After cleaning my guns, I have been wiping them down with a rag that has remoil on it to prevent rust in-between range days. Should I keep doing this or switch to break-free CLP?

>Rem oil
It's like you dont care about your guns.
>>33748994
What would you suggest using
I don't really trust it which is why im asking. I have pitting on the barrel of my old wingmaster but that might just be because it spent three years in storage.

motor oil should work, visual check your guns monthly

What are your thoughts on break-through clpb for the outside. I want something more on the lighter side and I feel like motor oil would get gummy
CLP is great. best IMHO. Remoil is shit tier. Along with lots of other namebrands.
Some /K/ommando post the pic of the gun oil washer rust test for this fag.

Cum.
Impregnate a rag with this and wipe your shit down before you put it up. 42 years of life in the SE USA and I've never had a spot of rust on any gun I own. Accept no substitutes.

what is this? a scientific display of rust proofing for ant soldiers!?

What it usually boils down to is how thick the grease or oil is. The thicker it is the longer it stays on before running off or evaporating
So
Grease will always be better than oil for protection.

My gunsmith says rem oil can melt plastic.
I now use G96, which is what he recommends.
>inb4 he upsold me to buy something
He didn't even offer to sell it, I actually bought mine from another store in liquid form.

He also used Miltec as a protectant, while the G96 was CLP (but mostly for lubricant, not so much cleaning).
If you're long term storing a rifle, you should consider grease or similar.

>remoil
insert into garbage
get some pure mineral oil and some white lithium grease
>>33757622
>white lithium grease
>mineral oil
Why's that senpai? I've heard about mineral oil for protecting metal.
>>33757613
I doubt it would be sold if it was that bad

theyre both simple cheap and dont stink.
oil exterior uncoated surfaces and things that rotate or pivot and grease things that slide...thats the common wisdom anyway
I just grease the guts and oil the skin meself
Also salt the wound.

oh and if you get a new gun and youre too lazy or fucking stupid or you dont have hands and wont smooth it up yourself lube it with engine break in oil for like the first 1k rounds
run it dry for the first couple hundred and dont clean out the oil break in fluid just add more until youre tired of the stink and switch back to normal.
I'm confused why people buy these name brand oils, you can get a massive can of 10 weight oil for cheap, just regular machine oil for lubrication and maybe a heavy grease if your guns are just going to sit in a safe for years

For God-Tier rust resistance, use EEZOX.
