Hmm...
>>
>>33743269
It's not the prettiest but who cares as long as it's a shooter.
>>
>>33743278
What's wrong with a carbine gas system on a 16"?
>>
>>33743269

good basic bitch carbine. Check out the aimpoint PROs when you're ready to step up in the optics game. Usually $350 during black friday.
>>
>>33743327

Carbine gas system length was designed for the 14.5" M4 carbine. The 16" rifles are a bit overgassed with a carbine gas system although it works. Midlength gas system is ideal for the 16" barrels. Less recoil, less wear on the components, basically.
>>
>>33743355
The gas port is in the same place on both the 14.5 and the 16 how is there any difference in pressure?

? Am I being rused?
>>
>>33743875
He doesn't know what he's talking about. Fwiw, having an extra long gas system for a given barrel length (dissapators) gives you smoother recoil, but lowers reliability. Not a whole lot, but that's the downside
>>
>>33743924
I thought dissys have .090 gas ports like rifle length tho dont they?
>>
>>33743731
>what is dwell time
>>
>>33743924
I guess I should add that on a 16" barrel, carbine length gas is by Far the most common, but like in the other anons pic you can get mid length. Or you can get an adjustable gas block and really tune it.
>>
>>33743965
I dont see what this has to do with dwell time.
>>
>>33743731
That's not the point the point is that you should get the longest gas system your barrel can fit because it just makes everything work better.

Riiight.
>>
>>33743942
I couldn't tell you that offhand, but I do know that it varies because you can a dissapator on several lengths. My AR pistol is a sort of dissy, it has a 10.5" barrel and carbine length gas tube
>>
>>33743989
I agree, I just dont get how a 16 is overgassed while the 14.5 is not.

>>33744002
Ok

>>33744018
Oh
>>
>>33743269
Not big on bipods, but that's a nice little starter gun OP. Strikefires are good for their price, I have one on my AR safequeen while my levergat and SAA are the only ones to escape the safe.
>>
>>33744038
>I agree, I just dont get how a 16 is overgassed while the 14.5 is not.

The barrel after the gas port is longer so the bullet is building more pressure because it's 1.5" longer. It's not a huge deal it's just /k/ being autistic but a midlength is a more proper gas system for a 16" barrel.
>>
>>33744090
Neat thanks.
>>
really dumb question:

if a red dot is described as "4 moa" does that mean 4 moa is the smallest group size one should expect to shoot while using it?

/k/ is all about aesthetics but since 16" barrels are civilian as fuck not even a mid length gas system make them look any better. 14.5" with a pinned flash hider looks best without a tax stamp desu~
>>
>>33744134
Means that the size of the dot is going to cover that much of your field of view (4 in at 100 yds, 8 in at 200 yds, etc.)
>>
>>33744134
size of the dot
>>33744138
legal issues aside, 16" is objectively a very good jack of all trades barrel length
>>
>>33744134

It's how big the dot will appear on the target

>>
>>33744134
No it means the dot will appear 4" at 100yds.

Or pay $50 more for the smaller and lighter MRO's.
But past that pricepoint, aimpoint has the market.

>>33744038
In theend of the day, it doesn't matter really.
Carbine gas system on a 16" barrel will really just give you a little bit more wear on your parts and a "touch" more recoil.

The former being that you actually shoot your ar to the point where you notice the accelerated wear, which means you're either very very autistic or have enough cash to shoot that much ammo.
The latter, you can correct by putting in a heavier buffer and stronger spring.
>>
>>33744249
Relax sperg
>>33744272
I respect that. But I shoot that rifle the most.
>>
>>33744249

it's not an "A2" if it has a flat top upper
>>
>>33744282
Oh, I forgot, if you're going carbine gas on a 16" barrel AND you have a fixed front sight post, you will have a shorther rail. Unless you go for those rails that extend beyond the FSP.
>>
>>33743942
My dissipator has a carbine length low profile gas system under the handguard

That's how they do them now. The originals were chopped M16s and were undergassed
>>
>>33744286
>I respect that. But I shoot that rifle the most.

I get you senpai, I have large hands and i never cared to replace my a2 with magpul shit mostly because i hate magpul fanboyisim so i try to keep magpul shit to a minimum. but i recently put one on a 9mm build and i love it i kinda wanna buy more and put them on all my AR's.
>>
>>33744318
Usually fanboys are there because a product is good. The magpul grip is excellent at an excellent price point. Dont disregard shit because it's popular.
>>
>>33744343
I actually like the BCM gunfighter mod 3 better than the MIAD
>>
>>33744282
>Carbine gas system on a 16" barrel will really just give you a little bit more wear on your parts
Theoretically. Nobody has produced hard data on middy 16s vs carbine 16s in this regard.
>>
>>33744812
That's because no one shoots their rifle enough for it to matter.
