The Deadfiit arms modifications made my AR such a more versitlile platform. Shooting the AR with the Deadfoot Arms stock folded was a complete breeze. The package was so reasonably priced that I couldn't believe it. Honestly it would still have felt like a bargain at double the MSRP.

the total length folded is supposed to be the same as a bullpup so im thinking i could create a bullpup kit.
a stock that goes unto that end cap and bullpup lever system for the trigger, bolt release and mag release that goes up into the front and attaches to a quad rail.

Even reloading bringing the cost way down, once you scale up to 100k or more rounds, the cost of the rifle per shot becomes much less a concern.

If you want a .458 socom, go AR. But folding stocks are less important than telescoping really. But both is nice.

an ar barrel will last just as long if not longer if the barrel is melonited vs chrome lined.

458 socom is fairly common cartridge now, you can get the barrels and bolts fairly cheap. i recently saw a barrel bolt combo for 225 on gunbroker brand new even. so i wouldnt say uncommon.

personal opinion, but i like folders.

The whole parts kit only shaves off half the buffer, making it like 3-4" less than a fully collapsed stock. Not worth the money or complications imo. I'm a fan of piston ARs with folding stocks but that's an entirely different gun, and you might as well go bullpup at that point.
