Let's say you are a marine, and you killed someone from ISIS using a VSS.

Can you loot the dead body just like in video games and use the gun?
>>
>>33741824
A good thread died for this.
>>
>>33741824
Yes but you can only carry 1 primary weapon at a time so will have to drop one, the armorer will love you for bring back rare weapons for him to finger fuck.

I imagine I would if said weapon had an application that I needed right at that moment.
>>

Yes, but be sure to suck in extra ammo through your feet. Simply step on the enemy's corpse and you will top off your ammo count.

Depends on your unit. Some may have you enter a pocket dimension to enter the enemy's inventory and manage things that way.

Take a moment to think about this. How would the military handle the logistics of supplying every soldier with the special snowflake ammo needed for whatever gun they pick up on a whim? What if that soldier is a dumbass and picks up something worse than what they were issued because of rule of cool? How would they service guns in the field if everyone has something different and there's no standardized parts? What if the enemy sabatoged their discarded weapons and you ditched your issued rifle for broken dogshit?

Draw your own conclusions Captain McGraw.
>>
>>33741927
Make sure to take the food, cigs, alcohol off their corpse as well, and consume it all at once. And don't forget the gold coins, you'll need them to buy more bandages to patch up your various lethal wounds.
>>
>>33741824
Yes but you have to be level 30 and get the killstreak first.

Well, there was that one guy who found a ppsh on a dead fighter in Iraq and managed to get it's use approved by command. IIRC he used it for about a week before running out of ammo.
>>
>>33742067
this

even if OP seems underage b&, this is a legitimate question

if a soldier who ran out of ammo, or his gun got damage during a fight, is able to take an ennemy firearm and use it to defend himself ? and finally, is now a soldier able to bring back an ennemy captured weapon home from where he was deployed ?
>>
>>33742067
>can I use this sir?
>who fucking cares, nothing matters anymore
>>
>>33741824
>Can you loot the dead body just like in video games and use the gun?

Yes. Just left click on it with your penis. After demonstrating the proper technique for that in front of your platoon we will move onto the phase of PTing the stupid out of you by seeing if you are physically able to vomit faeces.
>>
I doubt any of those fags laughing wouldn't cry if they found an original STG-44 from a dead body and the higher command told you to toss it away.
>>
>>33741824
>can you pick it up and use it
I dunno Einstein, do your hands work? If so loot the fucker if you need to.
>still using scavenged weapon post firefight
No jackass! Command would have you turn it in to be destroyed or reallocated to friendly forces. Then stock you up on ammo for your service weapon.

Also in case you didn't know kid, you lose an issued weapon that wasn't completely destroyed, your ass gets reamed. Turns out Uncle Sam doesn't like it when you throw away their property.
>>
seriously though

What is the US military's policy on looting dead guy's stuff? I imagine it is frowned upon.
>>
>>33742160
War trophies are illegal now. No one is allowed to have fun.
>>
>>33742097
Now and days it is exceptionally rare to bring back captured weapons. Most times weapons are collected and destroyed in a controlled explosion, or given to local forces to protect themselves.
>>
>>33742121
lol
>>
>>33742097
In the heat of the moment? Yes.

As a dedicated weapon he takes out with him at the outset of a patrol? 99.999999% no. It needs extreme exponentiating circumstances to happen.

>and finally, is now a soldier able to bring back an ennemy captured weapon home from where he was deployed ?

No. You can't have personal bringbacks.

>>33742160
You take weapons off dead bad guys all the time. As much as possible you don't want to leave weapons in the field for his friends to pick up later.

Weapons usually get photographed and tagged as evidence, then either put up in the local TOCs as trophies or destroyed.

>>33742130
Found weapons usually get kept in some form, just not carried into the field.

You never use an enemy weapon in combat, good way to fuck with your own guys.
only instance it would be acceptable is survival / special operations, and even then, western and first world countries are usually better equipped than the enemy.

there is no way you could hide a long gun to get it back to base, and you would certainly never get an opportunity to use it.

Maybe if you hide it in-country and go back for it as civi, but it would be a struggle (not to menton probably highly illegal) to get it home.

Short answer, you are probably 12 years old.
Most adults have common sense to know what is illegal most of the time.
>>
>>33744014
Generation Kill had an US officer picking up an AK, and I remember some coalition troops in Afganistan trading weapons to harmonize squads.
But usually you try not to get in front of a photographer when you're not up to reg. GOs are unfunny like that.
Also I wouldn't trust our current opponents with weapon maintenance.

>>
>>33747228
>Serious question do SF forces can do a wishlist and give it to the armorer to get the stuff or they just get issued with whatever they get?
Yes, they can generally take whatever they need for the mission and some of them even get to put together mission specific kits in advance. There was a thread on that recently.

They're not stupid enough to want to take unique shit though, they need their ammo to be compatible through the squad so you can borrow a mag or whatever. So, they could do what you're talking about but they know better than to actually do it.
>>
>>33741824
It's always a good idea to pick up an enemy weapon. Store an AK in your truck. That way, should you shoot someone unarmed, you drop the gun next to them to prove self defense.

But use the gun? Well fuck, if you're about to die and black on ammo, I guess. Just hold X and pick it up.

technically, yes. You cant loot bodies, It's seen as digraceful. Although if no one knows or says you have a flag or piece of jewlery and you hide it then your GG. Getting weapons is a bit more of a hassle. Getting it approved to keep by the military, find a dealer to legally ship it to, assuming it's a full auto you have to ship it to a special dealer and have a level 3 liscense, etc.

Pretty much just hide your shit.

Now, I know this a dumb question, but it raises one of mine.

How hard would it be for a unit of guys to strip down captured and undeclared weapons, and bring them into the US undocumented, piece by piece?
Does it happen?

I ask because my Grandfather and his mates did it during WWII - they brought back a Type 92 HMG in pieces, minus the tripod; they reassembled it and my Grandfather bought it off the others afterwards.
This is all sort of family legend though, because it was confiscated in the 60's due to a nosy neighbour.

Let's see, use a gun of unknown quality, maintenance and mo supply or use a gun that you know has been maintained, has a known manufacturing standard and you can get ammo for it?

That said, I know of a gunsmith friend of a friend that was allowed to use a Thompson submachine gun he found in a Vietcong weapons cache and then restored (with surplus parts from mainland US) during the Vietnam war after some complaining.

I've seen reports of Taliban using old henry martini's left behind by the Brits, would be pretty dope to find one of those probably worth a bit too.

They really are worth crap. I have seen pictures of the bring backs and the really poor condition. Add on top The fact the kypher pass fakes are more common the actual martinis and you should advoid them unless you really know your shit. The only redeeming quality is the novelty of the guns history IMO.

It's not uncommon for the sand people to use random shit like that. I'm pretty sure there was a recent video of ISIS using Yugo Mausers for example.
