you try getting into and out of a HMMWV, LMTV, or HEMTT while wearing body armor and helmet.

first deployment in iraq, I had an unarmored M998 HMMWV. they took the dinky hinges from the canvas doors and welded it to a piece of mild steel scrap for "armor", and then filled the foot well with sand bags. First thing I did once the convoy was moving in Iraq, was to toss the doors to the side as we moved. Blaming the loss of doors on them just breaking off. Then I opppsed away the sand bags too.

later I had a M1114 UAH. those doors were a fucking nightmare.
