The Beretta M9A3 is so fucking aesthetic, how did the US army NOT take it?

What do you /k/omrades think they'll end up going with instead?
>>
>>33731416
Beretta's are FAT handguns, I have a G20 that's slimmer than a M9, Baretta's are trash/10 handguns.
>>
>>33731481
Ain't nothing wrong with a thicc girl
>>
>>33731481
well, they're definitely not made for manlet hands or anything with a vagina.
>>
>>33731416
>"Why did the army not take this, it looks cool"
>>
The triggers on M9s are hot garbage
>>
> thinks aesthetics are merit
> thinks the military is a meritocracy
anon...
>>
Hey guys lets have exposed moving parts that can get mucked up with sand and dirt. Our troops will love it.
>>
>>33731568
>doesn't know Beretta designed the pistol like that on purpose to let sand and dirt pass through it more easily, also to eliminate FTEs
>>
>>33731568
what parts are exposed?
>>33731550
I know that's not the end all reason to be accepted but that's just what I think of it. And I was under the assumption Beretta 92's were pretty solid guns
>>
>>33731597
Edit: besides the barrel, what other parts are exposed? and isn't that a good thing?
>>
>>33731481
DESU fame, you're human garbage and a faggot.

Instantly disregard of anyone in a Beretta thread who brings up Glocks, they don't know anything about anything.

Instantly disregard anyone who shoots 10mm, clearly doesn't know anything about guns.

Find that rare retard who has a Glock in 10mm and we should probably just prune this thread to kill the cancer.

>>33731416
But to you, OP, you are a kind soul with a good heart and a good eye.

I have an M9A3, it is a piece of work. Also to BTFO anyone who claims thicc is a problem, the M9A3 has a vertec grip, significantly thinner than the 92 and M9/A1.

But you're a few months late. The army has already selected the Sig P320.

But the M9A3 was never meant to be the Modular Handgun System winner. It was meant to be a gun that the army bought in the meantime, as a way of modernizing their handguns without having to pick something new. The M9A3 is almost entirely compliant with existing M9 hardware and gunsmithing. The cost would have been almost nothing. Beretta was going to get the M9A3 price to sub M9 price.

In between now and the P320, the army is just using more M9s and M9A1s, they ordered tens of thousands over the past decade.
>>
>>33731530
What guns have you ever even shot? The M9 trigger is universally regarded as good. Literally everyone I've ever heard talk about it, other than you, thinks its a good trigger.

>>33731568
M9 was as good as or better than basically every gun in the handgun trials.

Also keep in mind that in normal operation, you may drop or kick your gun on dirt, mud, water, etc, but it's not like the torture tests you see on youtube where someone buries it in mud intentionally and forces it into every crevice. That said, go watch all the youtube videos, M9 functions better than most handguns in those conditions.

I have a shit ton of pistols, my 92FS has been my most reliable, performing better than my 1911 or Glock or any other gun I've shot.
>>
>>33731597
it is pretty solid, but sig won the bribes game
>>
>>33731644
I fucking hate double action on the first pull. Single action only, striker, or get out
>>
>>33731530
I have one and I love it but this is true, miles of travel and a little gravel. Goes bang every time though and it always groups well.
>>
>>33731690
Cock the hammer back then. You never have to experience the M9s DA pull unless you want to.
>>
>>33731690
cock the hammer you fucking retard. you can cock it when you draw it too, its not that hard.
>>
>>33731690
Like they said, you can cock the hammer, or you can not be a bitch and just learn to shoot the DA pull. It's smooth with a good break, I can easily hit the 10 ring with the DA pull and follow up easily with SA.

People that can only shoot striker fired guns are the Apple users of the world. Don't want to know anything about how it works or how to use, just want to press one button and get a mediocre result.
>>
>>33731690
A modified DAO like the HK LEM or SIG DAK is actually the true way.

I was unaware they'd already made the switch, thank you for clarifying that.

I suppose the Sig isn't a bad choice, it definitely doesn't have that same appeal but it looks apt enough to handle any situation. Glad there's a fellow Beretta fan here, my dad actually has a beretta m1934 chambered in .380.
>>
fucking slide safety on a full size.

i have large hands and I still found that safety to be a bitch to operate.
>>
>>33731416
Glock is busy pitching a fit about the 320 winning. We may see more nonsense about pistol selection yet.

It is utterly bizarre how much people care about this. Pistols are pretty low on the relevance scale.
>>33731530
I would be interested to know what you consider a good trigger to be.
>>33731821
LEM light is very nice.
>>33732647
>Memes
>>33733031
Interesting. I wear a small or medium glove and have no trouble reaching the controls. Maybe I have long thumbs or something.
>>
>>33731497
My G20 is thicc, the M9 is FAT.
>>33731530
>10mm.
>Manlet.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!
>>33731613
>10mm
>Reloads 10mm.
>Hunts with 10mm
Enjoy your "aesthetic" slide through the face faggot.
>>
>>33731644
The military M9 trigger is nothing at all like a civilian 92FS's trigger. It's significantly heavier and grittier.
>M9 was as good or better than basically every gun in the handgun trials
>slide mounted safety/decocker
>2-4 fewer rounds even with the "available" 17rd mags the military 100% would never use because it's sitting on literally 10 million 15rd M9 mags
>larger in all dimensions
>did not meet all the requirements (not modular)
yeahhhh...no.
>>
>>33731612
The trigger bar, hammer, and firing pin.

So basically almost everything required for the gun to work.
>>
>>33731416

Army is full of manlets now, and their hands can't fit around it's girthy grip.
>>
>>33733163
I wear XL gloves and probably could wear 2XL if they made them.

I can't reach the safety without significantly shifting my grip on the gun.
>>
>>33733941
The worst injury a service member received due to slide failure was a chipped tooth. Five slides actually broke, and that was due to overpressure ammunition.

Memes shouldn't replace information in conversations. A Glock guy should know that better than most.
>>
>>33734033
Than you need to get that checked by a doctor something may be wrong with your thumbs range of motion. I have medium hands I can put it to fire with out changing my grip just putting my thumb up and flicking it forward resafeing it I do need to change my grip.
>>
>>33732647
Always remember that the slide mounted controls were REQUESTED by the military.

Also trigger pull is good, sights are fine on M9, but we're talking M9A3 which has enhanced tritium night sights.

>>33733031
You might have large hands but you have short fingers. Again, slide mounted safety was A REQUIREMENT for contract. I personally love it.

>>33733941
Someone else mentioned, broken slides didn't really cause injuries and was based on ammo. Either way, Beretta went out of their way to add features so that even if somehow the slide managed to snap in two and explode, it will never fly back towards operator.

>>33733984
If the military M9 trigger is shit it's probably due to lack of maitenance. Civilian M9 and 92 both have fine triggers.

>not realizing I was talking about the handgun trials the M9 was actually entered in
>not realizing the M9 indeed won the contract by being better than Sig, S&W, Springfield, etc
>not realizing the M9A3 was NEVER SUBMITTED to Modular Handgun Test, but as a stop-gap model
>>
Only members of S.T.A.R.S. like the M9
>>
>>33731416
>choosing a gun because of how it looks
Hello, Poppy.
>>
>>33731690
>Single action only or get out

The 92 is capable of doing this, dummy. Just cock the hammer or rack the slide like any other SAO gun.

Calling something fat just means that you tapped out of the thicc test sooner than someone else.
