its a case to case thing. Some are design very akward where shouldering a long gun is nearly impossible and other have too much sticking out the front. For the most part they are pretty decent and were popular in the 80s and 90s in the SOF crowds but there is a reason everyone moved over to plate carriers with chest rigs.

I'd pack more radio or food stuff and usb batteries/batteries depending on if I'm staying in place or bugging out.

Phone is really for the packet radio apps I have for long range commo. Take off the antenna and replace with a jpole/rhombic/V antenna and I've got comms for the next few miles.

I have a .30 cal can that I can put on either the glock or the AR. Didn't add it in the pic because I thought it was implied. Load bearing harness stays in the ruck for the most part, as it's interchangeable with the chest rig. I usually rock the tac taylor harness when I'm on mission without all that shit on my chest besides an IFAK. Depends on what I'm out doing. Also, I picked this kit to be good innawoods for about 3-7 days so the cook kit is essential for preparing my meals and boiling water without creating a lot of smoke.

This is what I have on hand atm, haven't really tried to make a "bug out kit" I just looked around the house and this is what I came up with.

The skillet is in melee but does double duty for water purification/cooking, the knife is there for eating or stabbing, and the hatchet is for kindling, melee, etc.

I would prolly have 200 rounds of 22lr and maybe 50 of 9mm besides whats in the magazines, 120 rounds of 7.62 on stripper clips.

thx. I can live with that rating, was expecting 3/10. Glock knives are great blade blanks you can grind into whatever you want without feeling bad and they have the best sheath of any knife on the market.

Assuming all roads out of town are being blockaded, I guess I'd slip out in the night on my own two feet. I'm in pretty decent shape, I could probably hike 20+ miles a day with all that gear and some other basic survival stuff I left out.

You would be surprised how far a simple front wheel drive sedan can go off road. you would be better off, and you could carry more gear and equipment.

I've thought about doing just that, but I have a rule - I do NOT sell guns once I've purchased them.
I also suck at saving for long term purchases. That CZ was 750 take home price and it's the most expensive gun I own.

I'm also prejudiced against AR's for innawoods guns. I like them for HD or if I have a home base, but less so if I'll be tramping around on the run. SKS is easier to clean/field strip while mobile. I'd love to get a Czechpoint VZ 58 to replace that SKS though.

an AR has exactly 2 pins to take down, its super easy.

also my grandfather tramped around vietnam with his m16 without any real issues.
but if you are set against them get an AK instead of a of a VZ58 simply because of parts. I would much rather have a AR over a VZ and i would rather have an AK over an AR.

also SKS can go full auto if you dont keep that firing pin clean.
