I've got a buddy who is wanting his first AR/first centerfire semiauto rifle. He was looking into a Mini 14 but I convinced him to spend less money on a better rifle in an AR. He's looking into a Ruger AR556. Is the M&P Sport a better budget AR for a beginner or is the Ruger alright? Is there a better budget AR he should look into? I told him he could buy parts and I'll walk him through building an AR but he wants a factory rifle.

Just got this Colt Sporter Competition HBAR Pre-Ban (cuck state) with heavy barrel, researching what I wanna get for it. Are the knock off Trijicon ACOG 4X32's any good? I can't justify the 2k for the real one for awhile. I want a UBR stock, not sure what handguard with picatinny rails or foregrip to get yet. Consider canted iron sights too, might skip em and do something else though.
