The Long Dark is one of the most innawoods games out there. I'm surprised it doesn't get talked about more here.

It's set in the aftermath of a massive solar flare that has crippled society. You're alone in the Canadian wilderness in the middle of winter.

You can hunt and trap, scavenge supplies from the very few man-made structures in the various regions, fight to survive murderous wolves and bears.

It's also one of the most beautiful games I've ever played too.

It's still in early access, so some stuff may seem a little barebones but it's honestly one of the best innawoods survival games you can get right now.

The needs decay rates are a little wonky still. Once your hunger/thirst whatever decays, you won't die instantly. But it's still not as realistic as it could be. But, it's a game. What can you do?

I've been looking for a hunting game innawoods where you have a decent weapons and get to hunt cryptids/dinosaurs and the like. I dont think this type of game exists. I believe they were called supply crates last I played. They were like $3 each and contained building supplies/pistol/ammo. It's been almost a year since I've been on so they might have gotten rid of micros. I remember if someone bought one, it would parachute down slowly and there were always battles there of people trying to kill the buyer and take it for themselves. Sadly the game is like I said before, another shitty sandbox survival game. Arma 3 is just so much better in every possible way

Open world game where you play as a fire lookout alone in the middle of a national park, someone is out there watching you and fucking with your shit. there's secrets government sites, abandoned skinwalker camps, all the fun innawoods things. its beautiful and tragic and spooky as fuck. one of those indy games where you feel empty when its over because you got so emotionally invested in it. Its a must play in my books

There are no strict PvP game modes atm so you're never really sure if someone is a bot or not.

Though bots will never spam rounds at you in panic, so there's basically that distinguishing feature and not much else.

The Long Dark is the one survival/innawoods game that really stands out as good, engaging, and difficult. I wish to hell it had co-op. DayZ can beat around the bush at what we really want from survival, but The Long Dark actually delivers. Just wish I could play with my innawoods minded friends

It's a pretty solid mixture of both, it has some absolutely 10/10 horror moments, you'll know them when you get to them. Shadow of Chernobyl is pretty strange and off putting at first because of how unpolished it seems, but if you sink a few hours into it, you should end up loving it.

Call of Pripyat is easier to get into, and has some awesome features added like modification tree's for weapons, so give that a try if you give up on Shadow of Chernobyl

It's just an FPS with elements of those. But it still has the same basic gameplay, shoot mutants/enemies to reach objectives, collect better weapons, etc. Not much "survival" as in using your environment or crafting or anything. And the only horror is in certain missions in labs or underground. Other than that it's pretty much Half Life 2 with some open world elements and set in Chernobyl

Miasmata is a really interesting innaforest game.
You spend all your time running around in a big forest navigating by landmarks, triangulating with compass, investigating flowers and plants and trying to find clean water, all while being chased by a horrible creature looking like a mix of a gnu, a tiger and carpelt mold.
While there are no guns, the somewhat realistic orienteering in the game and nice forests make it somewhat /k/ related.

Call of Chernobyl, which is basically all 3 games' maps folded into a single game that still sections them off with additional features like, hunting, side missions, Addons for more guns, sometimes crashes, more addons, STALKERS, uncut mutants that actually work, cowardice, 'such is life in the zone' where you run out of ammo and have to yank shit from dead bodies, addons that allow different knives, factions, a rehashed story mode, iron man, zombie mode, still only 3 regular food items now radiated mutant meat from everything not truely human, insufferable side missions not coded correctly, fast travel addons, and more with Console Commands

I got puking drunk at a friends wedding, after which I proceeded to drive up the wrong side of a divided highway for approximately 5 miles, then later through a barrier blocking access to a closed bridge with portions of the deck missing. I then drove OVER said bridge while miraculously avoiding the gigantic car sized holes in the deck open to the river below. Once across the bridge, I drove through the barriers on the other side, leading the responding police on a short chase through a small town, got away, and showed up at an ex's place where I managed to convince her to fuck me, despite smelling like booze, vomit, and cigars.

Now thats a drunken story.

I'm all for the very advanced-looking gunplay and weapon customization down to the internal parts, but in terms of level design and how the missions work it's looking alot less like any kind of exploration game
