Mossberg maverick if you're cheap
>>33728035
This if you're not
Military to civie model weapons you can't really go wrong with, especially SOCOM's choice of standard issue weapons. If the best group of warfighters on earth don't know what the best modern weapons to use are, the who does?
>>33727985
Mossberg maverick 88 for 200$ if you want something pretty with a good safety then spend 100 more for the 500.
>>33728051
I should add, I don't think I'll ever buy another shotgun. This one can do everything
>>33728044
>870
too heavy, safety in the wrong place.

Okay OP if you should probably listen to the sane people in this thread and just get a Mossberg if you want to shoot hunt or shoot clays, it will really do anything you need it to do.
Or if you suffer from autism, you can purchase one of these fedora tier AK looking meme snowflake shotguns like this enormous douchebag.
>>33728035
this
>OP asks for best shotgun
>people suggest nugget-tier bargain bin mossmans
As expected of /k/
PPSH, Heck of a shotgun!
>>33728342
Unless you shoot competition trap, and are trying to LOOK more fancy, or you're some old rich fuck that wants a pretty o/u, any other circumstance it's the best. If you want your money to get the most precision, Save your dabloons for expensive RIFLES that are actual precision instruments instead of a shotgun where it's not going to make much difference. But it really comes down to spending your money, so if you want to spend 2000$ on some italian shit then just tell everyone to fuck off and go do it.
>>33728342
Name an objectively better shotgun and I'll tell you why you're wrong.
>>33728423
I already know how this will go. He will come back with a few over priced tismo tactical shotguns, and when we disagree with him, he'll call us all poorfags.
>>33728471
yeah, but it's fun
>>33728471
No I won't because I've been here long enough to know that /k/ is always full of shit.
Won't even bother.
>>33727985
Pre Freedom Group Remington 870's. I have a 1982 870 Wingmaster and it is the Cadillac of pump shotguns.

Okay I think the general consensus of this thread, Is shotguns are to each their own, almost just a matter of opinion. Just don't buy turk or chink shit
>want a 930 JM Pro badly
>live in Canada
>>33729208
This. I love mine it's unstoppable.
>>33728857
>semi-auto shotguns
grats. you now have a gun that can shoot faster than you're capable of handling and still stay on target. Sure, if you're using low-power-reduced-recoil-competition style ammunition, you can rap off rounds with a quickness.... but if you're using full power defensive loads, you're not going to be able to hold on target any better with a semi than with a pump.... which basically means that you can ACCURATELY shoot a pump just as fast as you can a semi-auto. but... now you have a more complicated, heavier shotgun that has increased recoil thanks to reciprocating mass. Not to mention, even your 3,000 dollar guchi semi-auto shotguns have serious cycle problems with certain loads, and styles of shell crimping.
the non-semi-auto shotguns you listed are either needlessly heavy or in some way more complicated than need be, with an unjustifiable price point.
mossman 5000 is simple, light weight, has a tang safety, and the shell lifter is tucked into the reciever... that part alone makes it infinitely better than most shotguns.
there's nothing worse than when the shell lifter pinches your fingers/gloves when trying to reload quickly. mossy makes it easy with tucked shell lifter and you can load faster by just dropping the thing in and slamming it forward.
tang safety fuckin rules too, unless you're a tacticool ninja retard that likes pistol grip stocks for shotguns.
I could go on.... but your list is shit. Yeah... they're all good shotguns that get the job done... but I have not yet encountered a 12ga that's really any better than a pump-action mossyoak900.
>>33730279
Oh hey, nutnfancy, I didn't know you posted on /k/
>>33730279
actually semi auto shotguns are slower than competent people with pump guns
shorter = better
>>33730315
I'm just a guy that has owned/shoots a lot of shotguns. Also, doesn't nutnfaggy shill winchesters?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5QTFvnENRc
>>33730366
you bring up a good point, one that I overlooked.
the cycle time on most semi-autos is indeed slower than a human can pump it manually. pretty crazy when you think about it.
but again... with full power loads, you're not going to be shooting at max speed and still holding target. semi-auto 12ga is impractical for anything other than competition shooting with low power loads.
>>33730413
>posts fuckin Jerry
I get your point, but shit man.... that guy and anything that guy can do doesn't count.... that guy isn't even human.
>>33730450
If the shotgun can follow him it's plenty fast enough is my point.
>>33730380
The only damage you'll do with that will be to your own wristbones.
>>33730450
This
>>33730459
But also a good point
>>33730459
sure thing. but my point stands that with full power loads, you aren't going to be able to stay on target at max speed, making superfast semi-autos pretty pointless.
Sure, jerry can stay on target.... but did you get a look at those shells? low brass as fuck, probably reduced recoil shells.
The speed of which one can fire full power loads and stay on target is well within what the average shooter can do with a pump. No use for semi outside of competition, shooting competition loads.
>>33730498
Yeah, OP should have provided context/expected use.
>>33730498
I think you should just cut your losses now.

>>33727985
Mossberg 500/590/Mav 88 is pretty good for what it is.
The 500 is fairly cheap and is quite good quality.
The 590 is nice if you don't mind spending more for a slightly better product.
The Mav 88 is a really nice budget shotgun.
