My gun shop just called me and said they got a Vepr 7.62x39 in should I buy this? I need opinions on this /k/.
>>
>>33721078
Depends on which one.
>>
>>33721078
If you don't have an AK, then fuck yeah.

Veprs are great and if that gun isn't retardedly over priced, you should pick it up.

If you don't own ONLY ARs in 5.56 and polymer framed pistols with above a 14 round capacity in 9mm, you're a hypocrite.

>>
>>33721082
the one in the picture

>>33721092
As far as price it will be around 1000 out the door
>>
>>33721129
Well at 1k, you're paying about the same price you'd get online minus shipping and transfer fees.

But you aren't getting a really great deal either.

So do you have a bunch of AKs or will this be your first one ever?

Do you have the money on hand or are you going to finance?

And do you want an AK or just noticed you didn't own one?

I wouldn't buy it if you just saw it and thought, "I don't have one of those yet."
>>
>>33721078
If it is the one in your pic, then I would look a little deeper into the rifle itself. That one in particular does not have a slot for the cleaning rod, or a bayonet lug. It also has a heavier barrel than a standard AKM. This rifle is more in a sort of cucked RPK setup, with a heavy barrel, thicker RPK receiver, RPK rear sight, and RPK style handguards. I have never held one before, so what I know is minimal. From what I hear they are solid rifles if you don't mind the cut features.
>>
>>33721126
>gas tube rail

Fucking idiot
>>
>>33721078
If you don't have a 7.62x39 AK sure op go for it.
If I didn't have a converted Saiga already I'd be planning on grabing one.
>>
>>33721147
I have a vepr 12
I've been waiting a AK in 7.62x39 for awhile. I have around 5k to spend on guns. I just want a really good AK for the money.
>>
>>33721172
I really don't care about bayonet lug. Is it a big deal to not have a cleaning rod on the gun?
>>
>>33721208
If you have that much to spend and want a good AK, then I would recommend checking out some rifles from Arsenal. Other than the peeling paint meme, they have been really good quality AK rifles.
>>
>>33721078
Yes, but I hope you've been lifting. If you're used to ARs or even standard AKs, the Vepr is going to seem extremely overweight. For some reason, they think the general public wants to buy a rifle with all the weight of an RPK, but without the RPK long barrel, buttstock, carry handle, and bipod. No idea why they aren't importing those.
>>
>>33721208
Buy a pre-89 ban rifle.
>>
>>33721208
Well you're going to be hard pressed to find a better AK for the same price in the same time frame.

I'd certainly go it.

Also post vepr 12.
>>
>>33721242
I've thought about that but I really don't want a milled ak

Arsenal makes plenty of stamped AK pattern rifles. You must be thinking of their SAM7 line of rifles that were on milled receivers. They should have a new AK-74 rifle out right now for $850. I haven't looked into the reviews for it, but I scarcely see a negative review for an Arsenal rifle.
>>33721208
Another option is to do what this anon >>33721250 sugested, and buy a pre 89 AK. The Chinese ones were built very solid, however any AK rifle from this era is more of a collectors item, so be prepared to pay a higher price. That being said, the quality from these older rifles is said rival anything produced today.

That's a nice image.

Have an original yet slightly saved snek.
>>
I have the vepr ak. It's front heavy because of the thicker receiver but a good gun. Only takes rpk furniture so that limits your choices. If you had ever considered a non converted vepr to convert it's a no brainer as all the things are done for you at a good price. Square back, bullet guide, threaded barrel.

I like mine. Solid damn accurate for the platform and that rear sight is balls sexy.like others said it is heavier and beefier because the extra reinforcement so take that into account. I traded my WASR ( 500$ with all parts and the rifle ) for a VEPR and I like it , sure it looks like a abomination now but waiting till I can get the funds and get a RPK front handgaurd set , my triangle stock is shipping and should be here monday and I have another muzzle device but I like the one on it now even though it's heavy.
>>
>>33721309
Yeah I want I can use and abuse so I don't think 89 per ban is for me
>>
>>33721433
You can use a pre-89 rifle. They're not much more expensive than an Arsenal or similar
>>
>>33721442
Couldn't I just get a slr 107 instead?
>>
>>33721469
What? Are you asking for permission? You've been given a lot of information in this thread. Do some more research, read some more reviews, watch some more videos. I reputable source of reviews is the AK Operators Union youtube channel. We also have an AK general, so you can ask specific questions there.

Go for it OP, it's built like a tank, and has incredible quality/workmanship.

Lmao dude. You're the one that got so offended that someone DARE suggest that VEPR's don't have "incredible quality/workmanship.". I'm not going to play some stupid games where you do

or

Simply pointing out that you're delusional is enough for me.

That depends on if it's a generic Type-56 or a Polytech Legend brand rifle, the former is acceptable, basically Yugo tier, but Polytechs are indeed very finely made.
>>
>>33721241
Not really, boresnakes are way better, and a bayonet lug really only matters if you actually intend to use a bayonet or if you're a collector type.

The heavy barrel and receiver means it can be shot a real fucking lot and just take it.
>>
>>33721243
It's key to accuracy (being rigid), and for the Vepr-12, it allows them to overgas the gun and it doesn't give a shit because it's built like a tank, thus it can eat the meekest birdshot shells.
>>
>>33723297
Can confirm that my vepr 12 eats everything that I throw at it
