I don't have any stories of Merit other than people just dumping rounds down range and hitting our carriers or people walking out of the lanes with loaded firearms because they don't understand the basic rules of gun safety but I do have a couple of things that are just aggravating that I hear over and over again working by the counter

Case in point, a place I used to work required that your gun needed to be unloaded and in a case before you brought it in for any smithing. This made sense because we didn't have that rule until some retard brought in a gun that "was stuck" and managed to ND into a wall.

Alternatively, a place that my buddy frequents doesn't have that particular rule. Instead, they require that your gun can be in any condition so long as you show clear before handing over the gun.
So far, no issues there.

I truly believe that humans are the single greatest reason that we can't have nice things.

A lot of modern rifles do not have the same issue of shitty ergonomics (forward hand supporting the middle of the gun at a strange angle like you pointed out) because most of them allow for either a vertical grip (pictured) or a set of bipods (look like legs near the front for support).

That part that the palm is grabbing is not easily named, but it can be called the barrel, forward stock, forward handguard, or some such other name.

There is also a pretty significant difference between english and american. I grew up in Montana, and it was always a big laugh for locals when foreigners speaking perfect textbook english would use super-formal traditional brittish manners and forms of address to us.

I don't know too much about it, but AFAIK (my brother helped his partner learn for the exam and was a lot better than the guy himself) it is mostly just pretty difficult - a very broad range of subjects, and pretty in depth too. Comprehensive knowledge about any type of firearm and ammo used for hunting and self protection, proper killing and butchering of all sorts of animals, tracking wounded animals, working with dogs, wildlife protection, tons of legal stuff, you need to demonstrate you can build your own treestand etc etc. In Germany it is often jokingly called "the green college degree".
All that is not required if you just want to shoot for sport, you just need to be a member of a shooting club.

A little back story first. The range I go to is a free, public outdoor range operated by the Department of Conservation. There are a few rules, no RO's, and is mostly self-policed. It is broken up into three sections. First section has bays at 7,15, and 25 yards. Second section has two 50 yard bays and eight 100 yard bays. Third has one 200 and one 250 yard bay. Most everyone tends to get along pretty well. There are some old guys that show up during the day and shoot nothing but bolt action rifles.

You would literally have to make a fucking business to get a class 3. The atf doesn't allow kitchen counter ffls anymore. You would literally have to buy a place to do business. And your complaining that you would be buying a gun as much as a house and instead saying buy a gun that costs a fucking business plus atf fees which are in the thousands of dollars.
It's way fucking easier to go on to gun broker an pick up an uzi/Mac for 3-6k. Websites are dedicated to selling them.

And you think they'll just start a whole fucking business and then get the licensing which is 2-6k depending on the licenses. Again it's a fucking cake walk to buy a preban than start a fucking company.

At worst you'll blow about 25-30k on a full auto AR.
Still sounds cheaper than finding a place to buy we'we'll pretend that it's cheap as fuck and say 20k, getting all the licenses we'll go basic and say 3k, wait a few months and hope you don't get denied after all of this, find someone who will sell you the gun for a few thousand we'll say 2k cause fuck it we are already low balling everything and wait another few months to finish the transfer and boom you have a full auto for 25k, but wait there's more!
If you don't sell enough guns the atf will revoke your license and you have to get rid of your auto(s) and now you have nothing to show for your investments.

Again it's fucking retarded to look at it as getting a license to be the easy way. Preban is the only realistic way for most people considering you can pick up autos on the cheap side for 3-6k.

That's the summary of the most eventful shit I saw happen there.
Learned the guy she bit had to get shots. The lady snatched over $600 of merchandise, mainly cosmetics.
Funny part is, if she were to drop all the items before shit went down she wouldn't have been able to be charged with anything. She faced multiple assault and battery charges, a severe theft charge, and an assault on an officer charge on top of all the drugs she had on her.
