Do they have battery-operated reloading in any rifles instead of gas-operated reloading?

If there isn't any why?

Wouldn't a battery-operated reloading rifle instead of gas-operated reloading rife be more effective?

Shouldn't the gas behind the bullet go 100% into the projectile instead of losing power by powering the bolt?

yes, they are called chainguns and they tend to be autocannon sized and mounted on vehicles where you don't have to worry about extra batteries.

As for infantry sized version:

If there isn't any why?
Because gas works fine and you don't have to carry batteries

>Wouldn't a battery-operated reloading rifle instead of gas-operated reloading rife be more effective?
no. The only reason to go with it is for reliability; even if there is a failure to fire, the round will be extracted, ejected, and the next one rammed in. This, at the cost of having to use a completely separate power supply.

This is, needless to say, a bigger deal in say, an autocannon in a turret mount, where you might have considerable difficulty manually unjamming the thing in an expedient fashion, if you can even get to it without tools.

>Shouldn't the gas behind the bullet go 100% into the projectile instead of losing power by powering the bolt?
the loss in power is extremely negligible.
>>
There is one upside - many laws define semi automatic firearms as using the force of the cartridge to cycle the action. If you live in an AWB commie state it could be a loophole

The gas is still expanding once the bullet has left the barrel. That's most of the sound associated with shooting a gun. If there were a gun that the barrel had returned to 1 atmosphere of pressure before the bullet exited the barrel it would be nearly silent.

That wasted gas is what is used to cycle the action, the gas isn't tapped from the barrel until very near the end.

>>33714483
A hole in the barrel will decrease the in the barrel even if there is still higher than 1 atm at the muzzle.
>>
>>33714483
>isn't tapped from the barrel until very near the end

it's called a gas trap and they suck. it was the original design on the m1 garand.
>>
>>33715910
*pressure in the barrel
>>
>>33711341
ok, lemme feed the fire a touch. what if the power needed to cycle the gun 30 times (one mag) was about the amount of power in a AA battery? then just incorporate a AA battery into the magazine. when you load new rounds in, you also give it a new replaceable little battery. Keep the batteries small, cheap, and expendable.
>>
>mfw no one realizes the gas that escapes during blowback doesn't matter because the round has already left the barrel and pressure doesn't matter anymore as it is in flight
Gee anons...
>>
>>33711341
I've thought of this before using a lithium battery pack to power a brushless motor, linear actuator.
The pros would be dial-a-RPM and possibly lighter weight.
>>
>>33715979
>blowback
what are you talking about?
>>
>>33714476
Hmm...
>>
>>33716001
>lighter weight
>with a lithium battery
Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
There's a reason that electronic cycling mechanisms are only used in chainguns where they have actual benefits to outweigh the massive weight tradeoff
>>
>>33716073
By the time the gas is pushing the bcg or piston back the round has already left the barrel. blowback in the sense of energy, not action type.

long recoil or delayed blow back is what you need
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d06hCqcuvsE

and what ever power is lost does not really matter
the bullet is already on its way
and there is still plenty of gas in the barrel
>>
>>33716145
But the VZ58 isn't delayed blowback or long recoil
>>
>>33716453
it is however slightly more efficient than normal kinds of gas operation
>>
>>33716001
>lighter weight
Retard
>>
>>33715942
You'd need some kind of capacitor to maintain rate of fire. A AA batter wouldn't give you that kind of output to cycle the bolt fast enough.
>>
>>33716453
Are vs.58s becoming a meme and do I need to go get one before y'all meme it's price up
>>
>>33716781
they already did meme the price up
>>
>>33716139
By literally drilling a small hole in the barrel you are reducing the pressure inside the barrel, this is elementary school logic. Now i'm not saying that this really matters because it doesn't but you are most certainly reducing pressure and therefore bullet velocity.
>>
>>33716980
And you think it being mostly contained during cycling the action happens before the bullet leaves the barrel? This is elementary school logic.

>bullet is pushed by gas pressure down barrel
>passes over slot and before the pressure can even drop or be redirected the bullet has already left the barrel
Dur.
