What store? I had a employee tell me that he can't sell AR's to me because I'm under 21, because of the AWB... last year. Tried to show him the rulings over turning it but he literally refused to look and kept saying "nope, can't do it".

I then left, went to the store 1 minute down the road, bought my LE6920, and walked into the store with it and the bill of sale. He about had a melt down, it was great. (This was Bob Moates Sport shop, by the way)

The law used to be that to purchase a firearm in Virginia, you had to provide proof of residency. (IE voter drivers license + voter ID, car registration, bank statement, etc). To my understanding, that was changed over the summer. Apparently that might not be the case, though.

according to what I was told, cannot be from out of state (all my proof of addresses are for my Alaska address) and buy a rifle in VA, even though legally I am a Virginia resident because that is my home of record for when I joined the military. I still have a VA driver's license (does not have a VA address though), and pay taxes in VA.

This. You can buy a rifle in any state as long as you have ID showing that you are a legal resident of USA. I have a Ga. License and i buy guns in SC, AL and FL all the time. I only cannot buy handguns out of state.

The managers and owner had known me for a while. The guy they hired wasn't any older than me and I was 24 at the time, and he didn't really sound about what he was talking about. The higher ups actually gave me some store credit on the next rifle purchase so I special ordered a SR-25 after I got my first salary pay check.
