Not really. It's kind of like cleaning a bigger AR, and if you don't have a good way to hold the rifle you'll end up shoving your cleaning rod down the cocking a time or two.

FACT: generals are always reports and circle jerks
FACT: generals should be avoided and threads should be made for actual discussion when necessary

Thats why you get KAC pattern.
Also helps from not having to determine which of three DPMS standards for top rail height.

Built my AR10 recently. Saw completed 16" barrel uppers going from PSA for $300 and grabbed away. Got one of their lowers too. Took it out shooting twice(80 rounds total) and it's been performing great, no malfunctions so far. Love it as much as my AK. Haven't gotten to shoot it past 50m though. Figured I'd post here and shill out for PSA's gen2 AR10s since they get a bad rep for their older models.

Looking to get a decent 1-6/1-8 optic for it, what do you suggest? Currently considering Primary Arms PAPS1-6X

Huh. Is your one of those weird hybrid inch/metric receivers that Century comissioned, or did Century import a run of regular receivers at some point? Inch or metric magwell?

Also, bren mags are common. If it makes you feel better, I have 3 others that I left alone and I just did this to the most beat up one to see if I could.
>>
>>33706960
The C308 is really not very well made in general, lots of QC issues and durability issues, if you can, I'd trade it at the soonest opportunity, an M&P-15 or NPAP could fetch a similar value while not being shitty.

You should have saved up another $100 and bought the PTR91

The whole thing about Israel's ragtag as fuck arsenals during their early days must have been real interesting to go through.
>>
>>33708118
Yeah it was a good find, aside from the 1964 produced Israeli barrel all of the other parts are matching original German parts circa 1942 or 43. Plus there's something neat about having a gun with both Hebrew and a swastika on it.

.308 HPs for HD?

I'm assuming they'll ruin someone's day more than a .223/9mm/.45 HP
>>
>>33708217
One could only assume...
There wouldn't even be any comparison between a 125-150gr soft point for hunting and 556 or some weak & slow pistol caliber.
>>
>>33708217
If your HD scenario involves killing a man on the other side of your 600 meter ballroom sure.

But if you live in a normal house or neighborhood a .308 will ruin the day of everyone in the next 10 rooms too.
>>
>>33708115
>Yeah, converted to 308
man that's nice, i wish it was more popular
>>
>>33708262
Even if it's a .308 HP? Houses here are made of brick so I assume over penetration will only apply to walls within the same house.

That was a big selling point for me, I wanted a gun with common ammo that I could pick up anywhere. It's just a bonus that you aren't at all limited to fmj either. I've taken soft points out to 400 yards with it, pretty accurate.
>>
>>33708305
If its brick over penetration won't be as big of an issue compared to drywall and wood, but a .308 is really just overkill at that point.

5.56 is more than enough to ruin a bad guys day, it would be much easier to get follow up shots on target. Plus a .308 indoors will fuck your ears much more than a 5.56 or 9mm ever would.
>>
>>33708374
This, even with electronic hearing protection, shooting .308 indoors will make you go FUUUCK from the concussive force alone.
>>
>>33708374
.308 and .223 do have the same sound level. And even if, the faster .223 will be louder, because it breaks the sound barrier much harder.

>>
>>33709250
See... the thing about generals is...
When there's identical threads every day, people get sick of posting the same crap to the same thread every day.
Eventually a lot of people just don't post because it all feels like a re-run and it feels like you are talking to the same people repeatedly.
A new thread both feels like it brings a new audience to chat, and it does bring a new audience.
That's the bad thing about generals. They're great for a while, but too much of a good thing turns a vibrant thread into a grey & unattractive place.

What receivers are KAC pattern? I thought DPMS was compatible with SR-25/m110 stuff.
>>
>>33700847
it can be hard if you fuck up and put the bits on in the wrong order, like trying to slot the bolt in after you've popped the trigger group on. getting the bolt itself back into the carrier is also tedious and obnoxious, but that's about it. I've probably only disassembled mine a whopping 20 times so I'm still a wee bitch, don't necessarily take my word for things.
