Thank you for your service. Most states have laws against being armed at protests, so I would advise against that. Get a 1911 in 9mm, RIA or any other brand in your price range. Get lots of practice, once you gain a few levels get a pocket 9mm that you will cc 24/7, whether you are allowed to or not. This is your lifesaver, don't use it unless doing time is preferable to the alternative.
