Would any old steel plumbing pipe work so long as it has the right diameter and isn't rusted to shit?
at least you'll pick up a cool nickname stumpy
if you're a tard you'll get standard welded pipe and it will blow up in your hand... or best case go off a few times before the "barrel" bulges and force fits itself to the pipe it's nested in.
If you are slightly smart you'll get some black pipe thats pressure rating while several thousand PSI below the proper saami specs for a 12ga will at least handle high brass birdshot with a reasonable level of safety Mr. Bubba
Or if you aren't an idiot you'll buy a shotgun barrel blank for $20 like I did off numrich that actually can be turned into a safe firearm. Make a cobray terminator clone or philipine guerilla slambang
>>33693991
>firing .357 out of a 1/2" wall thickness plastic barrel
WEW FUCKING LAD
that is literally a pipe bomb. with low pressure .38 cowboy loads you might get 10 shots off before the frame cracks along a print line. no one has managed to make a 3d printed gun that takes advantage of a steel barrel, normal springs, and metal reinforcements placed in the print because of the "muh 3D print a gun anywhere" meme for trying to cram the square peg of additive manufacturing into anything other than the square hole of rapid prototyping.
the bastard child of a marigold glock kit and a 3D printed gun will be the first step to actually making 3D printing viable

It certainly looks similar. I actually came into this thread to ask a question very much related.
Is there any practical way to cut a chamber to fit locking lugs without a mill? Assuming a triangular bolt for ease of manufacture.
Otherwise, maybe the easiest way is to lock it into the receiver frame, kinda like the roller delay system in the CETME, but as a gas system...
Also, I got an idea, but I'm not sure how practical it would be. So in (((certain countries))) it's hard to get barrels. Imagine a roller delayed rifle receiver that comes with say four barrel trunnions that would fit the barrel from the most popular rifles in that country.
So you'd obtain everything minus the barrel, and attach your own barrel from a rifle you already have. The only tools you'd need are a barrel wrench (which can be incorporated into a wire stock) and the go/no go headspacing gauges, which you would use to get the right headspacing, then use as the rollers in the bolt.
The idea is, everything you need for a baby-killing assault/battle rifle, minus the barrel, could be packed into a small, shoebox-sized package.
>>33694553
That's cool as fuck
>>33694690
how does that work?
>>33695251
>how does that work?
You unscrew the end, insert the shell, and the handle acts as the barrel. Once there's a shell loaded, you simply pull the bolt back by that small charging handle and release it.

I personally wouldn't fire anything made from Home Depot pipe. You can get good quality stainless from a normal industrial metal supply place, and it's generally not hard to find a store that will sell small quantities to the public if you google around for a bit. (Or you can order from McMaster or whatever.)
I'm planning on homebuilding a prototype in the next few years myself, but I'll probably use an actual barrel blank and some other off-the-shelf gun parts, because I want it to be a proof of concept for a mass produceable gun. (A simple closed-breech blowback pistol caliber carbine with a traditional stock etc. for ban state compliance, picture a cross between a STEN and Fallout 4's "Combat Rifle" and you'll be on the right track.)

>>33694256
This is where sourcing non-critical parts from deacts or toy guns would come in handy. Not so much for looks, but rather because they are already good for gripping and general ergonomics. Example- taking the stock off a deact or toy.
>>33698393
It's probably from a Rook Rifle or similar small-caliber Martini style rifle. BSA made a bunch of small-action Martinis in .310 Rook, as well as .22lr for the Australians.
>>33707659
Yea I got an opportunity to see one and handle it, the pepper spray rounds were real low power so it didn't need to contain a lot of pressure but considering how light it is the baton function doesn't work that well
>>33695241
It probably wouldn't handle .308 pressures, but one idea could be re-using the design from the Winchester 59 semi-auto shotgun. This had a floating chamber that the bolt locked into. The nice thing about this design is that you can get away with a weaker barrel than otherwise. The Winchester 59 had a fiberglass barrel with a steel liner, for example.
This way, the only really critical strength parts are all fairly compact.
>>33699551

Don't .25acp casings have a rim? You could modify the design and use the same kind of barrel sort of. The rifling tool anyway. Unless you want it in .22lr mainly for the caliber, which is just fine too.
I'd just use a barrel liner inside of something else.

Get a small c clamp and clamp the trunnions in and drill using the trunnion holes as a guide.
If you start from flats do that to one side before bending then finish once bent

>I also got a ROM kit from apex
Not a fan of dongs though
This crazy chick is making a handgun from scratch. She's a damn good machinist.

Needs an SP1 style cut at the back, I think the original SP1 bolt carriers didn't have a shrouded firing pin, but DPMS makes a "commercial" spec one with the right cut for those devices as well as a shrouded firing pin.

That is sexy
It's called AK-22, and was used in the Dhaka terrorist attack. It's manufactured in the slums in Bangladesh.

>sarcastic response.
Couple of attempts at .22lr versions of a takedown rifle similar to the one in 'Day of the Jackal.' 32 and 37 ounces.

Why not use an extended reach lighter with the nozzle at the touch hole?
>>33711348
Step one: Cut out a piece of metal in the shape of the gun.
Step two: Build the rest of the fucking gun.

Plumbing pipe for the tubes. Plain steel rod stock for the bolts. Sort of Sako style extractors - the one with the CF sleeve JB Welded over a Redman bore liner extracts perfectly but for the earlier one I'll have to make a new part as it's iffy a lot of the time. Both fire 100% of the time with Remington, CCI, Fiocchi, Federal, whatever subsonics. Never fired supersonics in them.
>>33722858
For the earlier model I used a Chinese Industry QB brand .22" barrel so it's not quite as accurate, but decent. Both tubular stocks hold ammo, 10 rounds for one, 12 for the other. Butt pads unscrew. Springs inside prevent rattling.

Oh shit, that reminds me of a picture I saw posted a lot on here a few years back.
It was some kind of abomination of an SKS, G3, AKM, maybe some other gun parts all stuck together in what appeared to be an actual functioning rifle.
Does anyone remember that?
