No friend, this is a 5-ton. These are much bigger than their 2.5 ton counterparts. They are also not $3k. You can get them at auction for relatively cheap (a few thousand) but you will have to then fight the state to get a title (good luck).

I drive an 02 Yukon with 250k on it and it runs fine.

Cousin had an 03 suburban that made it 300k just fine, then sold it.

My boss used to tow the company trailer with an early 2000s suburban. That fucking thing made it 400k+ miles, many of which were accumulated while hauling a landscaping trailer.

The hard part is that the white has decolored enough to be a cunt and a half to match. Im waiting untill all bodywork and everything is done before spending the time and money to paint it. Still have to weld closed holes from the previous owner and such.

Pic is with old damaged door. Previous owner fucked the doors hinge mounts up somehow.

Honest I should have bought a 4Runner.

I'm seriously hating my Xterra. Slow as fuck, something is up with the throttle, it has very poor response. The damn thing keeps stalling out (I know how to drive a stick, this is my 5th standard shift car). Plus the timing chain went and that cost $1500, and the clutch is already going at 67k miles.

Seriously it is upsetting how incapable offroad it is. Just last weekend I was trying to go up a slightly steep dirt forest road that had maybe 3 feet of packed melted snow, and I could barely make it 10 yards up before losing traction and then stalling out trying to ROLL backwards down the hill in 4Lo.

The motor doesn't make enough torque, the drive train isn't geared low enough...

I would be happier if I had $6k to sink into it, but I simply don't.

>>33691934
The xterra has more torque than a 4runner though. Also lower center of gravity.

4runners built in the 2000's are underpowered, rust-prone pieces of shit designed to be kidmovers. They also (like all small SUV's) have shit-all for cargo capacity or pulling ability. A Sea-Doo trailer pretty much is the upper limit unless you wanna melt the brakes off it trying to stop from 20mph, and 2010 and newer 4Runners can't even mount Class 3 hitches due to a lack of frame so you're limited to 3500lb trailer weight/350lb tongue weight anyway.

Everything I've heard, read, and seen says Xterra's are extremely capable offroad without aftermarket modification. I have 2 friends with Xterra's and owned an old one briefly (had it all of 3 days before a tree fucking fell on it in my driveway because my neighbor hired the local handyman to trim limbs instead of an actual tree service). Conversely my 4Runner is a humongous disappointment, it has zero acceleration, zero torque even in low, zero towing capability due to microscopic brakes and no fucking frame to bolt a good hitch to, crap fuel economy, and it runs loud and hot.

Sorry to hear that Anon, but at least you're making me feel better.

I specifically sold my sports car WRX to get a vehicle more /k/ in the Xterra, and I'm pretty disappointed as well.
You have the 4.0 V6? Same size and layout motor as my Nissan.
Similar curb weight at 4600lbs.

The torque sucks so fucking bad. Miss my Chevy for this reason. Torque for days. Sad thing is we could all be driving little I5 turodiesel motors in our 4Runners, Xterras, and Rangers if the EPA wasn't a bunch of shitheads.
>>
Both my cars get 34 MPG, your trucks and SUVs? Afraid to ask about the Suburbans and Broncos.

Just something for thought /k/. Say something happens, fuel prices go to insane levels or just not available.

Some of you have a 2nd junker that gets great MPG and some have bikes. What about the rest of you? Will you make it to any destination you need to before fuel is out? Car pool the coolest of the low MPG vehicles?

One company sells a 0.75" front leveling lift and that's about it. I'd have to fab one from scratch, if it's even doable being awd

Any brush guard or tow hook I could even get on the thing would require a bumper replacement just so it doesn't fucking shatter the first time I have to use it.

That's the problem. Mine was 40k, but it was brand new at the time (7 miles on the odo) and it's the Trail Premium edition. They don't depreciate, pretty much any 5th gen will be around 30k, even if it has 50k+ miles already.

>>33692178
2015, and it's 4700 lbs tow capacity to be exact. But mine has the lower hitch receiver attached to the frame. It is lacking in power, but definitely not in torque in the low end. The gas mileage is pretty crap compared to some newer SUVs, but it still averages around 17-20 mpg, not too bad for a heavy-ish BOF.
>>
>>33692257
>Both my cars get 34 MPG, your trucks and SUVs?

my jeep gets about 15mpg it's just a weekend warrior and if gas prices get stupid i will convert it to run on propane.
>>
>>33692254
yeah mine's the 4.0. I swear it's geared for interstate driving, it has no torque or acceleration in first or second but comes to life in third.

Biggest disappointment was that it wasn't available as a manual transmission, and the biggest reason I'd wave people off current-gen 4Runners (2010 and newer).

Rubicons are marginally better if you intend to keep it stock. The axles are not real dana 44's they have thin axle tubes and small bearings. The transmissions are shit and no one is ever going to make adapters to run something better than the junk 6 speeds jeep keeps using. Not that the engine is worth retaining the JK really needs an entire drive line swap. It's a shame they still dont sell budget 4 cyl models so you can gut them, but even then they are to big and bloated to actually give a fuck about building into a real 4x4.
>>
>>33692331
Interior of the Acadia is comfy AF, and the thing's got a shit-ton of cargo capacity for its size.

The AWD system is surprisingly capable, the LSD is actually limited so you don't just spin 1 tire. Granted not as good as an actual locking differential but I'm not trying to use it as a hobbyist mudder/crawler.

If I were willing to put in the work to fab parts for it I'd think it would make a pretty solid /out/ vehicle.

its only got 1500 miles on it so it is still pretty new. I mainly use it for getting to the back trails in the PNW when I go hiking, which with the washouts can be pretty shitty. you definitely need the air dam off though. you always scrape it otherwise, you get an extra 4.5 inches of ground clearance in the front with it off.

the diesel has plenty of ass. much more than the gas that I test drove. it will tow 7600lbs they say. the only thing available I found so far is a chip tune and a cold air intake but some people were having issues with it.

I know jeep owners are stupid but i dont think they are that stupid that is classic muscle car money. FJS's are generally cheap as fuck and i have seen mint condition AMC AMX's with 390's sell for $12,000.

Final editions sell for stupid money. I work for a car dealer here (not chrysler) and people ask about my wagoneer when I bring it in. Depends on the market. Mint examples in the rust belt go for more than in the southwest. Highest offer I got was 25k, probably should have taken it. outside a tired replacement motor, the body and the woody paneling is fucking mint.

Well, I'm working on it. I'm slowly trying to get over motion sickness even though I highly doubt that's doable. I'll take rides in vehicles, but I need to have the window down a bit for some reason and that kind of helps. I also can't go at night or I feel like I'm going to barf.

Plus, in my state you need insurance to get a license. Getting money for that isn't the easiest thing as a NEET who does random jobs for people rarely.

The Type R is going to be sweet. Way too busy looking for me though. The WRX STI and Focus RS look tame in comparison.
>>
>>33693941

It's just a TypeR. Meaning you pay extra for a flashy badge and a car that is still under 500 horse power, unlike a real race car.

Honda is late into the AWD game too. Maybe I'm being too critical but often I see people eat this shit up and it's like... yeah, unless you can afford the tickets and endangering innocent lives just because you want to go fast on a public road... no one cares.

I am going balls deep restoring my '99 hand me down XJ.

So far I've repaired A/C, replaced power steering pump + lines, replaced valve cover gasket, had alternator rebuilt, and am currently getting the front drive shaft inspected/serviced.

The next big hang ups after I get some more gaskets replaced are suspension and paint.

Should I do a lift?

Should I just sand all the old shit off and do monstaliner?

I'm going to be replacing rocker panels and rebuilding a small portion of the front passenger door too.

I never said AWD is for hoons.

And even oldschool spec b rally cars were tuned to be 500+hp. You're fucking mental if you're gonna argue that you can take a stock "performance" car (like the Type R) straight from the dealership to compete against purpose-tuned machines.

I'm not against people buying cars like the Type R civic.

I just think it's silly that Honda has finally made an AWD civic only to stay relevant in a world that been done ten times over already by Subaru, Mitsubishi, Audi, Volvo, BMW, ect ect.

I just got a new one of these (just over 3k miles). I recommend the grey colored one. Lesbian memes aside, it's a great vehicle. It's begging to be modded for some light off-roading though.

Two things you should know: it accelerates quickly but there's a noticeable pause between hitting the gas and moving/putting the pedal to the metal feels a little unresponsive. Likely due to boxer engine but this has its pros as well. Secondly, you'll have to consistently use your cruise control to get advertised mileage. Mine started at 26 something and it's up to 29.4 now (and climbing) but if I'm on the interstate I'm using my cruise control and I don't drive in town much.

And what really mulches my mangoes is their fucking Suzuki farm worker Utes, those cunts are fucking perfect vehicles and only go for about 20k brand spanking new, but they limit them to farm use. FUCKING WHY?!! They sell them in India under a different name perfectly road legal even by kiwi standards, the cunts even have blinkers and certified seat belts. Actually, the base model is a turbo 4 cylinder.
