Are m1a's comparably reliable to fal and ptr rifles?
no

No. Their open top means the action is very vulnerable to debris.

i had one and the bolt chipped after less than 1000 rounds. its a sample size of one but its turned me off of them forever
So what's better then, ptr or fal

A .308 AR for ~$1,000-1,500
Their nice rifles but I'd rather have any other modern battle rifle as a fighting rifle.

I have a matching USGI built on a Fulton receiver and its tip-top, my friend has a National Match Springfield and its tip-top. However I prefer the FAL over it because of the godlike ergos of the FAL. I like the M1A over the PTR because the PTR has shit ergos and a weird recoil.
>FAL
>M1A
>G3
thats the official ranking.

PTR has the risk of high recoil, retarded shit happening with the assbackwards kraut proto-spacemagic blowback action. It is also cheap, accurate, and readily available. Also mags are cheaper than dirt per pound. Looks really cool. Best upotte.
FAL is pricier, but has no real major drawbacks. Mags cost more, but all mags cost more than G3 mags. Really, I have no idea how G3 mags can be so cheap. Right arm of the free world. Looks really cool. High tier upotte.
verdict:get whichever you like more because you're not going to be seeing combat with them anyway.

As someone with an FAL, and who loves FAL's, this guy's got it. You'll get more for your money, and the aftermarket is much better
>>33689992
you're thinking of the m16
>>33689992
under shooting yes, but if debris gets in the trigger or the action they seize rather quickly.
Some modern AR10 is pretty reliable too. PSA or DPM. or midwest ind
Being a typical /k/inderkommando, I have to say--even though I've never seen a firearm in real life-- that whatever gun is being discussed, it's a heavy piece of shit that blows up, shoots around corners, and hurts like a bitch when inserted in your ass.

>Good AR10
>For less than $2000
Lol no

Not including frills (Optics, gucci furniture, other misc mods) you can easily build a worthy .308 for that money.

in what conditions? for range shooting mine is just as reliable as my SA58 FAL
