Okay /k/, I wanna know how the kraut space magic gun works
>>
>>33685061
Shit, don't ask us, we barely know how the you-tubes.
>>
>>33685061

There is a highly intricate clockwork mechanism in the back of the gun, that uses the power from the fired round to wind a spring, which in turn runs a mechanism that cleans the chamber following the firing process; it also uses blowback to chamber the next round. This mechanism must be pre-wound prior to firing the first shot.

The remains from the "caseless" rounds, having been removed from the chamber, are pushed into a second compartment that uses the heat from the barrel to power a miniature 'diesel generator' (conceptually, there isn't an actual diesel generator in the gun), which winds a second spring that cocks the firing mechanism to SA mode; it also powers a mechanical "turbine" that cools the rear clockwork mechanism.

magazine go back, three bullet comes out.

seriously though I haven't seen anybody do a teardown video of it yet, here's a picture though.

These parts must all be stamped too, I can't see machining being practical at all

Just like every other gun. Firing pin hits primer, ignites powder, drives bullet through barrel.
Only in the G11 every movement is forced to achieve the high rate of fire and the entire mechanism sits movable in the housing so that the recoil reaches the shooter's shoulder only after the third bullet has left the muzzle.

>>33685999
Is this complicated mess really necessary to shoot caseless ammo?

Could you simplify it down to the operation of a p90?
>>
>>33686043 of course not, they just wanted to go fucking mad with it
>>
>>33686043
It's necessary for the 3 round burst.
Also check out AN-94 witch is also fuking complicated to fire 2 round burst.

Silver bit behind the magazine well is a lifter which uses recoil of the previous round to lift the next out of the mag and chamber it before the barrel even recoils, really convoluted shit

Fucking pullies and 3 different spring mechanisms. Good luck getting some slav peasant to maintain that thing.

Is the joke about people who have to service this thing needing to be certified clock makers just a joke or is there some truth to it?

No that's actually he things guts
>>
>>33685061

Basically the firing chamber is on a rotating tumblr and the space magic is mostly just a load of arrestor springs and gears to lock it into the specific angles it needs to be for each part of the firing sequence.

>servicing that
>realise the jam is caused by dirt getting into a cog in the center of all the other cogs
>get the jewelers' screwdriver-set out
>five hours later, cleaned everything off, reassembled it all
>there's somehow 2 screws and a cog left over

EVERY. FUCKING. TIME.

M16 had a 3 round burst. It doesn't have to be THAT kooky.
>>
>>33685981
>stamped
Wat
You mean... forged?
>>
>>33686887
>M16 had a 3 round burst.

Which by the way is utterly lame & shit tier.

It doesn't reset if fewer rounds were fired. So with a 20 round mag, you'll be shooting 2 rounds in your final burst, reload and then your next "burst" will only be one round.

What a fucking idiotic piece of shit. Nearly no other assault rifle does this. The others reset through each pull. As long as there is ammo, it will always be 3 rounds (or 2 rounds in case of a 2 shot burst group).
>>
>>33686887
>>33686080

Always been a little curious how burst firing worked, didn't realise it used a little mechanical computer.

Wonder if you could rig up a load of M16s in such a fashion that the 3 round burst mechanisms could cause a final gun to output the answer to a basic calculation in the form of shots.

There's a lot about it that I don't understand, but I'll try to explain the recoil buffering arrangement for you.

Underneath it all, from a physics perspective recoil is an impulse. The equal and opposite impulse to that of the bullet (and propellant gasses) being launched out the muzzle. And as impulse, it's the product of force over time. The shot itself occurs in a very short timespan (thousandths of a second) and very high in force, and for a rigid firearm with a rigid stock, this impulse is transferred almost as abruptly and intensely into the shooter's shoulder.

However, this recoil impulse can also be buffered in the form of momentum, and spread out over time to reduce the magnitude of force and thus felt recoil following the shot. The simplest way to do this is with a rubber buttpad - when the shot is fired, the gun absorbs momentum from the shot briefly, recoils aft while compressing the stock, and gradually transfers this momentum into the shooter's shoulder over a longer period of time at a lower magnitude of force.

The G11 takes this to an extreme. Instead of a rubber buttpad with less than an inch of compressive travel, it contains all the heavy mechanical components inside a lightweight plastic stock/enclosure, where they are free to recoil several inches, arrested only by a soft recoil spring. This spreads out the recoil impulse over the entire duration between rapid-fire shots, essentially "blending" distinct, hammering shot impulses into a gradual, consistent and gentle recoil force, almost like one would feel spraying a hose.

>didn't realise it used a little mechanical computer.
It's just an escapement, really.
>>
>>33685061
It doesn't. There.
>>
>>33686987
No I mean stamped. Well more like blanking and piercing. A lot of tiny parts like that (watches, etc) are typically blanked in a press
