Red Dot Acquisition Thread
Hey guys, just looking into acquiring red dots right now for all my rifles because the market has never been better. So far I've compiled a list of small, T1 style red dots
>Aimpoint T2
>Trijicon MRO
>Vortex Sparc 2
>Vortex Sparc AR
>Bushnell TRS-25
>Primary Arms Advanced Dot
>Holosun, one of them god damn I don't know which
>Sig Sauer Romeo 5 1x20
Does anyone have any recommendations for the above?
My shopping list for Microdots and 30mm tubes is less complete, so if anyone has any recommendations I'd love to get those as well
30mm
>Aimpoint PRO
>Vortex StrikeFire II
Micro Red Dot
>Trijicon RMR
>Burris FastFire III
>Doctor Sight
>Leupold DeltaPoint
Things I excluded from the list
>EoTechs
Already own a few and the lawsuit memes say I shouldn't buy more
>Leupold LCO
Too expensive for what it is - why buy that when Aimpoint is better and cheaper?
>Trijicon SRS
Bad feedback and it's fucking huge, solar panel doesn't work without battery so it's useless and overpriced
get holosun hs503c
Obligatory.
>>33682251
>Sig Sauer Romeo 5 1x20
I'm 83.6% sure that Holosun makes those.
The Burris Fastfire 3 is pretty good, except the windage/elevation dials feel like they give no feedback, also the dials are really soft aluminum. When I applied the smallest bit of pressure to turn them, they got chipped. It's extremely low profile though.
The Deltapoint Pro mounts are jewy as fuck. It's 50 bucks for a cross slot mount for picatinny rails which should've been included with the aight in the first place. The adapter mounts for apecific guna are made of shitty plastic. The mounts+sight itself is tall as fuck, it rises almost 2 inches off my revolver. Aside from that the quality is nice.

If the Delta mounts suck I might take it off the list
I like the Romeo 5 even though everyone seems to incorrectly think its a rebranded Holosun. It's not. Plus you can get them really really cheap on sale
I just got my Vortex Strikefire 2 in the mail and it's essentially a cheaper version of an AimPoint. It's not as durable but if you keep your gun in a case and don't act like a retard it should last you years for sure. The red dot is super clear and it has a lifetime warranty that covers any kind of damage you do to it.
If it's not an Aimpoint it should be an MD-ADS. Maybe an MRO. Everything else can be disregarded.

What is wrong with the Vortex Sparc?
>>33687416
Why the fuck are you paying more for a RD with shittier battery life and a worse dot?
>>Primary Arms Advanced Dot
garbage don't buy into the marketing and weekend warriors who claim it's awesome. It was my first and last red dot. Kept it in a garage all winter and basically doesn't work anymore. Keep in mind it was turned off, the dot barely shows now. They claim the battery lasts 5 YEARS. I refuse to use red dots because of that garbage, they're fun but irons are timeless.
>>33687726
You're a fucking idiot.
>>33683779
This is the one you want. Le Reddit had a deal on gundeals for 176 usually 240
>>33682251
Bump fo interest
>>33687735
Not by much considering you actually have an EOtech.
>>33687786
Yeah, want me to tell you how much it fucking sucks you 'tard?

Weaver Tactical 1-7x 24mm Rifle Scope 34mm Tube Dual Focal Plane Illuminated MDR Reticle Matte
.1 MIL ADJUSTS
FUCKING LURVLEY
>>33682251
I've got the Holosun HS515BU, love it and the Eotech-ish circle dot is awesome.
>>33682251
I have the Holosun HS403C. It is the micro dot with the solar panel on top. I use it on a 16" midlength ar15.
I've run approximately 1,500 rounds through the gun with it mounted. Been through one "tactical" style rifle class, and some 3 Gun. So far it has kept zero and given me no problems. Dot isn't as crisp as on an Aimpoint m68, but better than a Bushnell TRS-25.
It can run without a battery, so long as there is enough light to power the solar panel. Since the battery compartment is on the bottom of the optic, instead of the side, the aperture is higher up than on other red dots. This makes it impossible to cowitness irons on an AK using an Ultimak rail (found out the hard way), and causes you to have a very small area to cowitness your sights on an AR15. Should come with an AR height mount, and a low mount.
Pretty good optic for the money. Going back to using it after having a Vortex 1-6x on the rifle for a while. Might go with an Aimpoint or some sort of fixed zoom scope if I could do it again.
7/10 would recommend

>Buying weaver glass
For what purpose? Isn't it shorter than Bushnell?
>>33682251
Just go for a LPV. Red dots are shit.
>>33682251
I haven't had it long but I've yet to find anything I don't like about the SIG Romeo 7.
Obviously time will tell but for now I'm pretty happy with the purchase.
this thing is great. the motion-detection activation is great.
>>33682251
don't be a poorfag, get the Aimpoint T2
>>33684554
Imo the deltapoint is really more of a rifle sight than a handgun sight. If you're willing to spend hundreds on a pistol red dot just get the rmr, which is like 100 more than the leupold.
I got a Holosun HS403A, it's still alive after being slapped on my semi-auto shotgun.
Honestly that's a good example of quality, that semi-auto shotgun has killed a few pieces of glass, made scopes slip in the mounts, and powerfucked an Aimpoint QD mount.
These 2 holosuns work very well for my purposes.

Shield RMS should probably go on the Micro list. Heard decent stuff about it so far, seems to be above the Burris and below the RMR and DeltaPoint Pro. Nobody uses Doctor sights anymore. Get the Vortex Viper and Venom on there instead for poorfags. Comp M4 is probably worth a mention on the 30mm list too. Not sure why you'd want it over a Comp M2 derivative like the PRO, but it exists. Also, Vortex Spitfire deserves a special mention for having an etched reticle that's much clearer for people with astigmatism.
Note that the old DeltaPoints are garbage and that you should only really be looking at the Pro model now, especially when they can be had under $400.
RMRs are tricky. I'm of the opinion that only the adjustable models should be considered, specifically the RM06 and RM09 (3.5 MOA and 1 MOA, respectively).
>>33683955
If it makes you feel any better, the feedback on the dials for the RMR is equally miniscule. Makes it super hard to do fine adjustment at a range. Also, the RMR doesn't come with a picatinny rail attachment either in it's stock config.

Mines been dropped a few times and has been on for something like 2 years straight now
Was in storage at maybe 5 degrees Fahrenheit average for 4 months
Maybe you just have autism
>>33682251
>Primary Arms Advanced Dot
>Sig Sauer Romeo 5 1x20
Both are just rebranded Holosuns.
Speaking of rebranded Holosuns, the Truglo Tru-Tec is a Holosun 403G, and you can get them for $100 (about half of what the Holosun goes for)
I think it's probably hands down the best value in RDSes out there right now.
Even if you end up not liking it, at that price point, you can just throw it on your 10/22 or whatever and enjoy it as a plinker.
>>33687726
One of the PA-branded Holosuns doesn't have the fancy battery management circuits and lasts only a couple thousand hours on a battery, the more expensive one does. Make sure you didn't get the cheap one.
Otherwise -- Well, it's maido en china, and so is the battery. Try a good battery first, and if that doesn't work, warranty it because it's obviously a dud, unlike everyone else's.
>>33687726
Mine rode in the back of a truck through a rainstorm, a blizzard, and below zero temperatures for an entire day. It still works and held zero. By the way it's a first generation dot, not even the advanced.
Pic is the dot literally frozen.
For the $65 I paid for it I am very happy. A couple years old and still on the original battery, and capable of hitting bowling pins at 100 yards with a 5.5" 9mm SBR.
