I've seen too many car and truck break-ins at the local camp grounds and around the city here. It's a bad idea to leave any weapon in a place where it's not always easily monitorable and accounted for.

If a Redguard forced the window open with a piece of rusty rebar, I doubt he'd have the lock picking skills to bust the lock without smashing it.

Also, a lock box would be an extra step in putting your weapon into action, which if it's the case in many truck gun scenarios, would be too timely to make them worth it.

Still a bad idea m8. Cars are easier to break into than houses and are less likely to be investigated as well.

This, maybe the trunk gun meme works for rural people but it's a really good way to give Tyrone or some other idiot a free gun if you live anywhere near a city. Really a CCW on your person is more useful then only keeping it in your car which is vulnerable unattended. Ideal truck gun should be a shotgun anyway, I imagine it's a gun with actual utilitarian value in the countryside anyway. Just get a $100 break action shotgun or something and you're good.
