Still might have lived, thus proving that anyone owning an AR15 in .223 should bend over and present their anus, along with your weapons, for men with more effective rifles before we just kill you all.

Or maybe realize a bog-standard 55gr JSP through the top of your heart means your blood pressure is going in the shitter in seconds.

Actually in that particular instance the xm193 didn't hit bone. It shredded the quad muscles and cracked the femur in half from hyrdostatic shock alone. It was a clean break too.

.22 is the best round. It's used by hitman because if you shoot someone in the head, it'll bounce around inside their skull and scramble the target's brain!

That's more of an issue with shot placement rather than the bullet itself.

It's not exactly replicatable in some gel and plastic/rubber.

>>33677255
What this guy said. It's about energy transfer, and the effects that has on surrounding tissue and bone. The steel core isn't exactly what you want to use on unarmored targets anyways, if I could choose between 1000 rounds of m855 and 1000 rounds of horandy red tips I'd go with horandy every time.

No, my word choice is not what makes my point, my point was a wound like a hemo/pneuomo is considered an immediately life threatening wound. Acute is acute no matter what way you put it. It may not need immediate attention like an artery or airway issue but you will die without treatment.
>>

They said the bullet hit the lung. Regardless of what they think happens, a fucking hole in your lung IS life threatening. Have fun bleeding into your lungs and struggling with that 50% lung capacity with your "non-mortal wound" for the next minute at most

This is what I was trying to say when the dumbass said it was not immediately life threatening.
>GCS to Lung
>Hemopneuomothorax
>Above causes decreased tidal volume, decreased cardiac output and increased respirations to compensate for the build up of Co2 not getting blow off
>Increased respiratory rate will eventually lead to respiratory arrest if left untreated
>Cells arent perfusing adequately and shock sets in as do the effects of anaerobic cellular metabolism
>Blood volume is decreased due to bleeding into thorax leading to hypovolemia
>All of these are immediately life threatening
>SpO2 and EtCO2 levels drop and patient becomes unconscious
>Patient probably gurgling, spitting up blood, aspirating more in the process, needing intubated and a chest tube
>>
>>33678105
>GCS to Lung
>Meant to say GSW
>>
>muh energy
>muh hydrostatic shock
>muh what if I hit a bone
Friendly reminder 5.56 was explicitly designed so people could carry a shit load of ammunition so that smaller numbers of men could put out more battle rattle
Also friendly reminder that every gun using nation in the world knew a hard hitting heavy rpund did more damage before America rolled up in the 60's with "hurr durr lets make space guns that shoot a lot of only maybe lethal ammunition"
Also reminder that if 6.5mm long rifle rounds were deemed by an entire country to be way too weak to even stop a malnourished 5 foot tall chinaman, that stands to reason a 5.56 is too weak
>>
>>33678105
If it would be so life threatening why is it illegal to hunt with .223?
Can't be because of lethality huh?

>>
>>33677807
A collapsed lung is different than taking a high velocity rifle bullet to the lung.

If you've ever opened up an animal that's been lungshot, the lung(s) looks like a bag of red jello and the chest cavity is full of deoxygenated blood. The heart rapidly pumps most of the animals blood through the pulmonary artery into the destroyed lung tissue and out into the body cavity. It tends to incapacitate and kill faster than a direct heart shot.
>>
>>33678591
Nah, thats a tacticool/fudd myth
Legitimately the whole trial requirements were it needed to be a small caliber round with a high velocity
Something like "have the wounding ability of a .30 carbine and the accuracy of a .30-06"
And it was originally only the Air Force bought into it, after an absolutely stupid marksmanship test by airmen, and the Air Force just said "less recoil means more shots accurately meaning more dead gaiz!"
>>
>anyone saying that any bullet can't kill someone

Is /k/ retarded? Even .22 LR can kill you in a single shot.
>>
>>33678860

5.56 is too weak to kill which is why the U.S. military hasn't killed anybody since the M-14 got replaced in 1967.

I blew the guts out of a coyote last summer with my AR. Had to shoot him a 2nd time through the lungs. He was just standing there with his intestines dangling on the ground. It was cheap armscor ammo.
>>
>>33678123
because it still takes a while to kill the animal, for one. You don't want to have an animal running scared after being shot and dying for 1-5 whole minutes before it finally dies of blood loss or complications with the injury, you want it dead now, because that's humane.

.223 is a lower fucking pressure than 5.56 too. This kind of logic belongs in a fuddlore thread if I'm even understanding it properly.
>>
>>33678123
Correction, it's only illegal to hunt with .223 in some states. I knew a guy who hunts deer with .22 Hornet here in Texas. Totally legal.
>>
>>33679993
And what's your take on the oh-fuck-imma-gonna-die cascade?
>>
Back when I was your age we used to hunt. We'd shoot something- once, smoke a cigarette, then go looking for it. Sure, you can shoot it six times if you want...follow the trail right to the crash site.

And .223/5/56 fucks shit right up. Big hogs and deer all die from it.

In my state it's legal to hunt with a 38 special but not 9mm. It's legal to hunt deer with a 556 but only with 10 or fewer round magazine however you can use any size magazine you want for calibers .30 and up like an AK or M1 carbine.
