I'm not sure how furniture and the like would be treated, but a friend of mine who studied in Russia sent me back 30 mags without any problems. It's worth noting that he would mix it in with other gifts and never sent more than 3 at a time. Theoretically everything besides the barrel and receiver should be fine to bring over, but CBP can be dicks about the most random shit.

Yes, you could pour molten lead around it but 1) the heat would fuck up the tempering of the steel and 2) the weight would be too light and draw attention, as steel is obviously much lighter than lead.

Here are some big reasons as to why Africa is flooded with cheap guns.

1. The Bush Wars. Many of the rebel groups were financed by the Chinese, Soviets, Cubans, and even the North Koreans in some cases. So the rebels were getting a metric ton of equipment thrown at them for free. AKs and RPGs or whatever else they could give with ammo to match. After the conflicts ended the guns started floating around because there was no real way to control that market with weak governments.

2. Decolonization. The newly independent nations of Africa were looking for arms and again the communists were willing to provide. Many of those nations experienced civil war and turbulence and a scattering of their stockpiles of arms.

3. Collapse of the Soviet Union. Most of Eastern Europe found themselves in dire economic straights with mountains of leftover military hardware they didn't need. Selling weapons and equipment to African nations or warlords was a quick way to get some cash and unload surplus. The methods of payment could be a bit questionable but hey, at the end of it you're still getting paid. Just don't think about where that diamond came from too much. Both private and national parties did this.

I've been to Rwanda couple times and the locals told me of how people from congo would cross the border and steal their cow/crops. Nobody is willing to fight them because they're armed. Sometimes they even attacked military/police outpost

Not sure if that's the case currently but I think the rwandans already strengthen their border with all the guns and artillery are pointing towards DRC and recently, Burundi

So, as much as I've cringed at all the burned AKs, breaking them with machine would take too much time and there's ni guarantee the gun would not go back to circulation (in any way or form) if they're sent to recycling plant.
