New Russian UAV, Altius.
>>
>>33669920
uav test bed/recon? no way thats for combat
>>
>>33669971
Its a Global Hawk equivalent.
>>
>>33669971
Why? Its quite a bit larger than the MQ-9. Probably faster due to the two engines, or can carry a larger payload. Pretty large fuselage; wondering what kind of shit it has onboard. Different design than we're used to but it seems like it'd be a pretty decent platform. Curious about the onstation time with those two engines
>>
>>33670088
Lack of any sensors or external hardpoints.

>Its quite a bit larger than the MQ-9
For reference its roughly 12 metres long with a wing span of 28 metres.
>>
Also it has two 500ph diesel engines.
So lower power to wight ratio, but quite efficient.
>>
>>33670119
>What is the MQ-4

With the size of this fuselage I'd imagine it's got SAR and SIGINT capes rather than FMV
>>
>>33670066
ha!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_Condor

same service ceiling as the Global Hawk.

I don't think that Slavshit is going to perform as well.
>>
>>33670066
but why make it so big? lack of tech skill?

>>33670119
they could add hard points, but the wing doesnt look like its designed for them. then again it has a 28m wing span. so who knows what the. crazy russians might try
>>
>>33670217
MQ-4 has FLIR, and also isn't capable of strike missions.

So..
>>
>>33670249
Fuel and lift. The global hawk has a jet engine, this has two low power diesels. More fuel means more on station time.
>>
>>33670249
>but why make it so big?
Its significantly smaller than the Global Hawk.
>lack of tech skill?
Yes, on the part of the Americans apparently.
>>
>m-muh american air superiority
step it up, usa
>>
>>33670249
>but the wing doesnt look like its designed for them
Probably fuselage points, it will aparently be equipped with Khibiny and Borisoglebsk-2 EW/SIGINT pods.
>>
>>33670249
>>33670329
It's probably not designed with strike points because its not designed to carry munitions. You guys do realize that, contrary to what CNN would have you believe, RPA's do more than carry missiles around.
>>
>>33670302
fuck, i never realised how fuck huge the G. Hawk was.
>>

Kind of has to be for its ridiculous range
>>
Kind of sad to see them trailing behind China

It's size is that of a Reaper equivalent, Global Hawks are fuckhueg.
>>
>>33670066
>>33670088

Russia can't properly operate MQ-9 equivalents, GLOSNAS is too patchy atm to provide a reliable geolocation system for any onboard flight software, and the comsats are too few to provide decent uptime unless they use local control stations for all of them, which adds a fuckhuge logistics footprint.

Literally the only good thing about this is that it's not named something as shitty as "Skat" like Mig's prototype drone was.
>>
>>33671385
MQ-9 doesn't necessarily need GPS. It has a fully-functional inertial navigational system, as do most combat aircraft.
>>
>>33671424
By internal navigation do you mean "fly in circles until signal reacquisition"?
>>

Please stop pretending the Tu-95 is anything but a glorified flying shitpost at this point.
>>
>>33673535
Its still pretty much a long range missile platform at this point.

Why not? They are very effective if you don't need to go supersonic.
>>
>>33672748

>using non-prop for anything but supersonic flight

It's like you don't want maximum loiter time for your CAS/intel gathering drones.

???

Soviet equivalent to GPS

Says fucking who?

Skat means manta ray, moron.
>>
>>33670550
What an odd looking plane.
>>
>>33672748
Look up the bypass ratio. The larger it is, the more efficient an engine is. Props have 100% bypass. Turbo props are 90%. Commercial jet engines are 70%. Fighter jet engines are 0% (no really, they are).

They're really, really not

GLONASS you mean then.
>>

>rear prop drive
I bet that ricer pilots would dorifto that thing
>>
>>33674186
> I read the Wikipedia article, now I know everything!

A- prop engines, especially turbo props do not have a 100% bypass ratio, unless they are somehow burning internally stored oxygen.

B- bypass ratios vary hugely depending on the plane, but even fighter engines have some bypass these days. 0 bypass straight turbojets haven't been used in frontline applications for decades.
>>
>>33671385
GLONASS is p nice now desu
>>

"No."

Can it drop bombs?

So they put 2 engines on a IAI Heron?
>>

>New Russian UAV, Altius.

O look they copied an old burger design again but shittier and without the accompanying tech.

Where will Russia realise it is Italy 2.0 with a vast amount of icy swamp and muslims attached.
>>
>>33674102
>GLOSNAS

Ah yes. More copied burger tech but shittier. Useful for collars on escaping prostitutes da?

Italy 2.0 strikes again.

I'm guessing your from either eastern europe, or one of the Baltic states. Only they can get this butthurt from Russia being talked about.
