Yeah, supposedly water repellant and they have multiple mounting systems be it MOLLE or belt clips or paddles etc. I just need something that can do STANAGs and G3 mags.

Are these shoulderpads a good upgrade for the Mayflower APC?
They look decent, are cheap, and on sale. I'm a jew.

Just looking for some more comfy pads for long term wear.
>>
>>33671057
Do you not like your current shoulder pads?

If they rub try wearing a collared shirt. Otherwise the hsgi shoulder pads are alright. If you keep the straps closer in then those will cut into your neck or ride up on the sides of your neck.
>>
>>33671768
>Do you not like your current shoulder pads?
They are alright, but it's noticeable that more padding would feel much better on my shoulders after hours of wearing it with plates, but not really required by any means.

Seemed like a cheap quality of life upgrade.

I have those on my SKD PIG PC which already has somewhat padded shoulder straps, and they're pretty comfortable. Haven't had much of a problem with the pads rubbing on my neck like the other anon, but I guess that's gonna depend on your physiology.

If they don't work out for you, it's not like they're super expensive and you could probably put them on any shoulder strap so, there's that to consider.

So I paid through a Russian guy on the gear threads. They shipped to him and then he sent it to me. Made shipping a bit cheaper but I did this because I was getting stuff from gearcraft too. Rkarbid is going to take some time. All their stuff is made to order. They aren't going to rip you off if that's what you mean but they have a lot of FSB orders to fill first so be prepaired to wait.

Repro you have to step around especially with waterproof things, because most repros are inherently lower quality. Quality repros tend to go for 80% of their real world counterparts, and at that point what's the point.

NIP Patagonia L5s can be had for 150-170 if you look in the right places, and that's what most people pay for actually quality soft shells.

Quality soft shells cost three/four times as much, and the PCU is definitely NOT waterproof.
It's just a glorified windproof piece of equipment and the price is so high only because of airsoft babbies and gearwhores who want to feel like real seals or rangers.

Something for building raifus, full load outs, etc. Preferably with pretty pictures and the ability to pew-pew. The rest of your post is spot-on, but that's a load of shit and you know it. There are quality softshells that aren't way up in the Arc'teryx price range. I've been wearing a North Face one that I snagged for $100 on sale for over a decade and it's held up fine, even in extreme weather.

Wildlands is fun. Gun customization is pretty sweet and close to spot on. Clothes and shit is good but since 5.11 put a chunk of change in the game they get their shitty shit put in it, but it does have crye precision stuff. Hopefully we'll get a lot more cool pc's and chest rigs in the future. And I would throw money at them to let me get rid of this drop leg, my suppressor is getting too dirty.

lol I have a ronin because I like that system. It's not about what I LIKE or don't. The guy asked about a battle belt that was easy to don. So unless you are always wearing your velcro inner(which I have been lately), it's not an easy donning belt, it takes much longer to put on an inner through your belt loops and then put on your ronin than it does to just put on a padded battle belt.

Ha. That's not going to happen. TFM is apparently very selective about who they let in and they definitely only want correct, real gear; Eagle RRVs and CIRAS vests aren't expensive, but it's going to be expensive for an entire kit.

I think they go to Western games as well, but I could be wrong. Nothing is stopping you except for people who would be asshurt, which does include me, mostly because the only options you have would be doing an older, farb kit like 2007 Rangers or doing a modern National Guard kit.

Thanks, I was already using that for reference, but it seems that the connector is too far gone to save. I was able to figure out the wiring, but the soldering job is too complex with how close the pins are. I'm going to have to complain to the seller for a refund, but they'll probably try to say I tampered with it. When I got it, the wires were basically only held in by tension. I got ripped off.

hi /gq/, I know nothing about gear, is there a backpack with MOLLE on the inside? or something similar? I work out in the field a lot and everything goes to shit since I only have a bag with one big pocket.

I have to carry lots of glass vials and plastic sauce cups and trying to engineer something to not crush them is a fucking nightmare when you have to carry several notebooks and metal equipment. Also I carry a lot of ethyl acetate, is that something i need to take into consideration when looking at bags? I don't want my shit to burst into flames.

pic related is what I'm looking at mostly, the condor compact assault pack. I know its condor but I'm not beating the shit out of it, I just need something to organise everything.
>>
>>33683313
Yes there are several packs that have organizers and internal molle or Velcro fields. I am not really sure on brand names but if you googled it you would probably find it.

Entomologist. I have to carry a ton of collection shit like huge canvas nets and several containers so live specimens won't kill each other. I love the idea of MOLLE since I have to paint in the field a lot so if I need gouache instead of oils for something I can just take off a pouch and attach a different one without sorting through a bunch of supplies. It's hard finding a pack that isn't fucking huge, though.

Already have one set from Crye, and also one from CR. Kind of crazy price tho, so may save it for another time.
>>
Ops Core, Crye, MTEK, Team Wendy, or ACH. Which one and why for a ballistic helmet? Ignore politics.

Opscore tends to be the gold standard for high cut, mainly because of their lux liner. Honestly an ACH with wendy zap pads and a new brow liner is pretty comfortable, however still carries a lot of weight

If you just need earpro, Howard Leights or Peltor make electronic earpro thats decent and not too expensive. MSA Sordins or Comtacs if you hate your wallet and/ or need comms.

If you weren't around for the revolution of playing halo 2 on original Xbox online then you have no real context to go by. It's like saying black ops or infinite warfare are better than modern warfare 1 & 2. Were "improvements" made? Sure, but does that make the game better? Sorry but no. The stories are p cool, and it was made to be easier to play, but halo 2 was much better.

The 3M helmet is also PE which seems to be less rigid than the legacy aramid under impact, resulting in more BFD. The testing protocol they use on those doesn't take BFD into consideration so far as I know.

I believe the MTEK is also PE. IIRC the Crye Airframe and Ops-Core FAST are mixes of PE and aramids. (the ops-core used to be aramid only I think but am not 100% sure of)

The helmet world is the wild west of armor, the NIJ testing protocol is completely out of date, and none of the major ballistic labs actually do that test.

The Army's test is probably the most comprehensive but for obvious reasons most helmets for the LE and civilian market aren't tested and they don't release the protocols or the results so for helmets that were trialed but not selected you don't know why. Plus SOCOM has different test specs for hard body armor so it wouldn't surprise me if they also did for helmets.

Most manufacturers just do a NIJ-esque test for penetration and call it good without going all the way and using the clay and the headform that the actual helmet test require.

>real question is why are you wearing a pistol on your plate carrier?
I like having it on me and I don't want to get a battle belt. Plus this carrier would have the pistol already attached so if I have to put it on in a home invasion where I have a few moment I have a back up weapon in case my rifle has a malfunction I cannot clear. My current POS chest rig.

How important is it for the front to be slim? I mean it doesn't exactly hinder my ability to move around and only adds an extra pound or so to an already 20lb+ carrier.

if it's all just inside your house it's not as bad but for just inside the house i don't see why you want 6 AR mags. 3 mags on your carrier is plenty if you think about realistic threats. 3 mags on the carrier plus 1 in the gun gives you 120 rounds to work with. If you're placing your shots well that's more than enough unless your home is being invaded by a Marine rifle squad.

I suppose you're right. 6 is kind of overkill. Want it more for rule of cool and if SHTF ever does happen I'd want the most capacity I could fit reasonably already built in and ready to go. Cannot exactly order new pouches online if something that shatters life as we know it takes place. Does that extra 2 inches matter that much once you know you're going to be humping around plates?
>>
>>33693167
Sucks to go prone and be sticking out of cover by two inches
>>
>>33693167
> Want it more for rule of cool and if SHTF ever does happen I'd want the most capacity I could fit reasonably already built in and ready to go.
If SHTF you're going to want to be able to get low to the ground while prone or get close to a wall while climbing. Think low-crawling to avoid snipers in the balkans or hopping fences to avoid being seen moving down streets.

> Does that extra 2 inches matter that much once you know you're going to be humping around plates?
Yes. Get a plate carrier and tape a shoebox full of mags to the front and see.

I just put on that rig and hopped on the floor. I could get lower if I was not double stacking but the magazine in the rifle itself already forces my head/neck/chest to push up to get my eyes on the sights.

I guess crawling would be a mothering fucker though. Not unless I flipped over and crab walked. I'll think on it. Thanks for the input though. I am going full retard and getting 2 double mag+pistol and then a single double mag on my right side to give a bit more clearance for my rifle.

I am already going to get bullied for my carrier and my plates might as well fuck up the pouch set up as well.

not to push this anymore into /v/ but I also think ODST has the best story. You're not just running around in a near invincible super soldier outfit, you're a regular sof guy with basic gear and training. The Marines treat you like equals instead of some advanced super soldier which feels really sobering if you're used to Halo 1-3. Plus the fact that your team is actually relatable feels really refreshing

On topic: So what setup are you guys running and why?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017KQD1B6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it's got a headphone jack and i can plug it into my earpro with the two way headphone jack that came with my ear pro.

it's really not optimal or the best.

a better option if you have a communications headset like peltor comtacs is to get a kenwood to nato push to talk.

there is an airshit brand called z tactical that makes repros of them but i dont know if they have working noise cancelling.

it was originally made by LBT for Tier One Quality Solutions, who made a complete kit issued to SEALs. The original kit was vacuum sealed to keep the contents safe from water and dirt, and to keep everything together in one package when the pouch was release.

The TQS medical insert has:
Hemostatic gauze (Celox)
Chest seals (Foxseal)
H&H compressed gauze x2
Ace wrap
Izzy bandage
ARS decomp needle
NPA

So that's a fairly full-featured kit. the only extra thing one needs is TQs, which really should be placed in individual pouches for easier access.
