According to the Foreign Minister of the United Kingdom, Russia could "join the coalition, which unites more than 60 countries, to fight against Daish and preserve its strategic interests in Syria, with the prospect of a more productive relationship with President (USA Donald) Trump.

And people STILL don't realize that NATO is the only thing that is preventing war in Europe and that the actual WW3 (which everybody is SO excited about whenever there's minor day-to-day events in third world proxies) could happen if NATO went full-retard.
On the other hand, the EU can't even stop 400 africans to drown in the Mediterranean: a bunch of somalis could probably take their AKs and march on Bruxelles. Let's be honest, peace in Europe is not thanks to the EU, it's thanks to NATO, Warsaw Pact and the fear of MAD.
And of course, today is merely NATO, that has declawed all Euro militaries to useless level.

Well yes, and NATO.
President Donald Trump during his upcoming visit to London expressed a desire to ride around the city in a golden carriage of Queen Elizabeth II, the reports The Times, citing anonymous sources.

People have short attention spans, it was exactly the same with the initial campaign for the east of the city, lots of coverage for ~2 weeks then near silence until it was over when you got another brief flurry of coverage.
Telling people "Fighting continues, a couple of blocks changed hands and X claimed Y losses while Y claimed X losses" every day (or even every week) for months doesn't sell papers or generate views, I wouldn't expect any significant coverage to resume until it's virtually over again and they can run "The Iraqi army are now moving in to clear out the last few pockets of resistance with over 90% of the city now liberated, look at these grateful people returning to their homes in areas already secured" stories.
Real classy massacre of women and children at foua and kafraya. What kind of weird POS do you gotta be to be driving that car. Obviously work of JAA or ISIS
>>33661184
OH NO... ALL of the rebel gainz in Hama have now been reversed and the rebel offensive was all for naught. All of those dead Jihad niggers with nothing to show for it.
Why do they even bother? It's going to be the same thing everywhere else.
The NDF and SAA are instructed to retreat when under heavy attack, letting the heavy Russian firepower and artillery make up for the manpower shortages.
SAA retreats, heavy bombardment ensues, Jihadists bleed out holding scraps of land, premier units are moved in and finish them off.
Rinse and repeat.
5 Star Jihad Nigger was having a good day yesterday when the buses with kids were blown up, but he must be having an absolute SHIT day today..
>>33661573

You won't see a lot about this in the MSM in the US. The White Helmets were there to help after the blast? Perhaps a head count of White Helmets before and after the explosion might be revealing of the identity of the culprits.
There is a consistent effort in the US MSM to write and speak only of the ISIS enemy in Syria and Iraq. I heard Bernie Sanders talk today on the execrable Tapper's newsie TV show of the ISIS enemy. Trump does the same thing. This is really evidence of success in the "slicky boy" technique of ignoring parts of reality that do not fit the image one wishes to project into the public mind. In fact the AQ derived terrorist groups that now control Idlib Province are every bit as vicious and treacherous as the ISIS ones out to te east around Raqqa, Deir Az-Zor and Mosul. The unfortunate truth that we and our coaltion allies like; the UK, France, Denmark, Saudi Arabia (what an embarrassment to be their allies!), Qatar, etc. have sponsored these creatures against the cause of multi-confessional government does not make groups like Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham any less the enemies of humanity. But we are managing to delude ourselves into believing that a post-Assad government that includes these medievalist fanatics can be anything other than a theocracy based on Wahhabist principles of intolerance.

Absolutely agree with you here Mandic. HTS and IS may be at war with each other but they only differ in approaches. HTS is trying to play the long game, muh guerrilla warfare, embedded in Syrian rebel groups internally while IS is outright hostile to everyone. HTS has no problem bombing whoever they see fit, especially Shia and especially since other groups (like Turkey) are trying to sideline them.
Mapp is SAA advancing after prolonged bombardment into Souran. The lines have been reset to pre rebel offensive in northern Hama.
>>33664932
I agree it could have been IS too but HTS is a strong possibility. Both have reasons.
>>33664976
Sectarian attacks aren't too much in the AQ playbook anymore after AQI kind of overdid it. If I had to wager IS makes more sense due to that reason.

>>33665382
yes, sorry I just jumped in the thread thinking it was Mandic.
>>33665583
They could push all the way up there but than they would have to freeze another front be it eastern Aleppo, western Aleppo etc.
It's a good idea for them to push rebels away from Hama city now if they are willing to risk losing territory elsewhere. This has always been the SAAs main problem.

THE FRONTS FALL APART
WHAT IT MEANT TO BE TO BE THE FSA IS A MEMORY OF A TIME WHEN-
I TRIED SO HARD AND GOT SO FAAAAAAAAAAAAR
BUT IN THE END IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER
OFFENSIVES FAILED - WE'RE LOSING ALLLLLLL
AND IN THE END, WE'RE BOILING IN ALEPPOOOOOOO
>>33665699

>>33662614

>>33667164
Yes, they rushed a ton of reinforcements to the point where they can make further advances but other fronts don't stop for the SAAs convenience. It's up to Russian/Iranian commanders to calculate the risk of resealing Hama.
>>33665699
Have you ever seen Mandic write something so coherent?
>>33667392
other fronts seem to be stable for now though, and the rebels have a much harder time moving troops around (i don't even know to what extent they do that with all the infighting and local militias). Daraa doesn't look to good, but aside from that i don't see where they are threatened at the moment.
They have to start moving against idlib at some point anyways.
>>33665788
isnt that something that should have been done like a day or few days after the chemical attack and not 13 days after it actually happend when all the heat is gone ?
>>33665788
literally no1 was talking about chemical attack anymore when this happend ,it was done story
>>33667499
I can't say you're wrong or the SAA is making the wrong move here. They are flatting rebels with heavy firepower but your example of Daraa is the prefect front once stable gone active. Off the top of my head Daraa city didn't move a inch for almost two years. I was one of the few saying this place is next up for fighting the day after Aleppo city ended.
Could anyone give me a rundown of what rebel groups operate in idlib province? Is it true that HTS is currently the biggest one?
>Nasheed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVoXVy2uG_8
>>33673078
A shitload of rebel groups merged into 2 big players: one is the """moderate""" Ahrar al-Sham, that has afaik a little more fighters than the second group: HTS, which is literally al-Qaida (Syrian branch, former JFS/Al-Nusra)
But even IF Ahrar al-Sham has more fighters, the morale and fighting skill of HTS is most likely much higher.
So in total strengh its (just a guess from a comfy armchair general) 60% HTS, 40% AAS

Running through quickly. There is a T-72 theme with a captured HTS T-72 in Soran and a destroyed SAA T-72 in Qabon , Damascus. Other things include minor SDF advances near Raqqa, continued fighting in western Aleppo, Daraa and northern Hama. Some YPG vs TFSA action around Mare.
Lastly even though the main news of Deir Ezzor is of US airstrikes causing civilian casualties near the Iraqi border there has been rumblings of unrest, major food storage in SAA held parts of Deir Ezzor city.

The Syrian Centre for Policy and Research was the one that declared the death toll hitting the +400K threshold last year, but I question their figures since it could be subject to government biases. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights might be more accurate with the 400K-450K range last March, even if it doesn't account for undocumented deaths.
Either way, we're either close or past the 500K mark at this rate. but accounting for attrition and IS getting ass-pounded the fighting could slow down. Assuming the war goes on it'll still take years before we hit the big 1 mil.

>Comparing nationwide government-ordered genocide to a messy civil war.
That makes just about as much sense as comparing the death rate in this war to Germany's efficiency gassing concentration camp inmates.

>The lines have been reset to pre rebel offensive in northern Hama.
Hmmmm didn't I state this would happen about 3 threads ago. Nonetheless, predictions are not meaningful. I could be wrong on the next one
It does seem like this same fucking campaign has happened 4 times now.
FSA attack, everyone thinks maybe Hama, SAA throws Shia bait at them, lines stagnate, airstrikes begin, Shia militia push them back, tow strikes, SAA shows up finally and pushes the FSA back, nothing happens for a year
What is his endgame?

Secure the country
Step down from power
Argentina
These threads have become complete shit since the cruise missile attack.

I get it, the SAA/Russians brought the hammer down to stop the rebels in Hama. I was watching it closely when it happened. What I was discussing earlier with anon ITT was the merits of them fully sealing up Hama by fighting all the way to Morek and such. It remains a open question.
New Tow video from Hama lines of a pick up truck convey (risky to ride around in soft skin trucks there but whatever) being hit. Troops visibility thrown off.

Well, there's the /pol/ posting chasing lurkers away and also that thing with Nork pulling attention away from the Mideast.

When Russia bombs civilians it's evil pragmatism but when America does it's unfortunate idealism. Just a normal day.
what's America's endgame in the middle east? control all oil sources?
I can't cleanly sum up today. There is heavy fighting near Raqqa with the SDF. Some new fighting in Deir Ezzor city and more of the same on the rest of Syria.
JAI put out two videos of a pre dawn raid on the outskirts of eastern Ghouta , I assume it's around Tishreen. They claim 55 SAA killed. I doubt that but they did kill some and a BMP.

I like the radio squelch. Really gives a eerie feeling of the aftermath.

Say what you want about ISIS, but they have the best of the best quality out there.
>>33696600
I'd say they should focus on pushing them back to Morek at least.
The rebels have lost A LOT of men and the amount of Tow videos has decreased exponentially. They are probably running low on ammunition by now.
I'd say the SAA might as well go all out there. Aleppo and other places are not gonna change much
>>33697273
Are they gonna connect to besieged parts of Deir Ezzor after Hama? Or they just gonna wait until base gets overran like Abu Dukhur?
>>33697615
The Palmyra entrenchments are still a long way off from DeZ compared to the SDF, which has already taken chunks off north DeZ province. That place may be way off from Kurdish interests, but at this rate the SDF may as well gun for that town after Raqqa since they're so close.
