I think I just hopelessly suck at shooting.

>Ruger 10/22
>Super Aguila 60gr.
>4X scope

At 100 yards I'm lucky to get a 4" group. And thats at a bench, using a bench and shored up with sandbags and shit.

I've read about dudes getting 0.5" groups from any position with any sights and I just can't believe how far behind I am. I can't even see the target with just irons at 100yd, the little ball is the same size as the target how am I supposed to get a 0.5" group when I can't get 0.5" of definition?

I've been practicing, I know about breathing, and slowly pulling the trigger, and not anticipating the shot, and waiting a second after the shot before moving...

What the fuck am I doing wrong? I put the sights in the exact same place every time and the shots just go everywhere. Maybe my rifle just sucks but I doubt that.

Don't even get me started on my groups with my SKS at 100 yards. Same deal, looking at about 6-7" groups. Terrible.

Practice. If that doesn't work, practice some more.

Look man, this performance stuff is all in your head. Next time you're at the range take some deep breaths and get all those bad feelings out. With your head relaxed and naturally gazing towards the horizon place the barrel against your chin, aiming up through the mass of your head at a 45 degree angle to ensure you get ti all out in one round.
>>
>>33660477
Try better ammo.
>>
>>33660647
Thanks Uncle 4chan
>>
>>33660477
Shoot at shorter range (a range where you can see the bullseye of the target) and practice everything you've been trying to do at long range. When you get everything inside the bullseye/whatever standard of accuracy you deem acceptable extend the range more and more.
>>
>>33660477
keep your head centered in the scope better then

Watch this entire video and your groups WILL improve.

There's your problem. No factory 10/22 is rifled for 60 grain bullets. Step down to 32-40 grain, or get a 1/9 -1/10 twist barrel

10/22 without work done are not 1moa guns.
60gr aguila's are not 1moa rounds.
4x scope should be plenty.
Sks are dinner plate accuracy with ruskie ammo.

Shoot more.
Buy better.

I learned to shoot as kid by killing rabbits and magpies, also did small bore club aged 10 through till 17 before I joined the army, I was once a retarded shot like you, took me until I was 9 (2 years since dad trusted me with the 22) before I could hit a can at 50 metres.

You'll be sorted after a year or so if you don't have Parkinson's or something, just don't focus to much on breathing and stuff just yet, get comfy with your rifles and learn to get your stances comfy and steady.

Just remember anon a lot of the good shooters you see at the range have probably been doing this shit since they were toddlers.

Any suggestions for good ammo brands? I usually just buy the cheap shit
>>
>>33660764
CCI Mini-Mag 22LR HP
36 grain
>>
>>33660764
Norma is decent and not too expensive.

I shot this with my 10/22 the other day. I wanted to sight it in but I forgot my screwdriver and my leather man screwdriver was to big. I was at about 50 yards though.
>>
>>33660764
CCI its only a couple extra cents, but don't worry about ammo just yet, focus on being comfy as fuck. You need to get monk levels of meditation before you make sub Moa without being on a bench.

I just put new sights on it.
>>
>>33660788
Good stuff, my 10/22s been a bit funny ever since I put a rubber bolt stop in it, been using my cz 452 and my dads toz way more often, might consider selling it.
>>
>>33660800
oooh fiber optic, nice man. Recommend a brand?
>>
Shit, a 4" group at 100 yards with a 10/22 is decent shooting. Almost any .22 will drop about 6" at that distance, and I'm not going to fuck with my sights or scope for distances that stretch the caliber's effective range.

I shoot paper so I can dial in varmit kills on my property. Anything past 50 yards, and I'll reach for my AR or my Model 70 in .308
>>
>>33660800
If you really want to grind that accuracy buy yourself a $40 old school single shot 22 and buy 1000 small bore cards, can be a little annoying outdoors at 50m but hey that's the real world. Also don't fall for the aperture Jew.
>>
>>33660691
This.

Also, the 0.5" you talk about is a fully customized bull-barrel, special bullshit tricked out 10/22. Normal accuracy should be ~2-3", especially when you're shooting sub-sonic at 100 yards. Wind has an effect.
>>
>>33660804
I like my .22.
>>33660807
They were just True Glos that noticed while getting ammo.
>>
>>33660858
Sweet thanks man now I don't feel like a complete fuckup.

I didn't know that rifling and grain/muzzle velocity were related, learned something new today.
>>
>>33660477
Did you lock tight your scope screws? Cause thay can cause issues also.
Had it happen with an old rifle I was trying to sight in, couldnt get the thing to group smaller than 4" at 100yds and was going to give up on it. Now that I've lock tighted it, I shurnk the groups down to less than an inch.
>>
>>33660965
I did actually, that was recently though.
