I'll assume 300blk is a non standard "Calibre".
I loaded 10 rounds of 300 blk in palmetto projectile brass, 125 TNT Speer projectile, 19.5gr of 1680, with CCI small rifle primer #200, and the primers were damn near completely flat when I shot them.
Are CCI #200 soft primers? Or should I not give a shit?
I also loaded some 203gr projectiles with 11gr 1680, they didnt cycle properly, or lock the slide back. They had slightly backed out primers.

Have a contender barrel in .45 Winchester magnum. It's become so rare they're dropping it from reloading manuals.
If only they had chambered the Deagle for it, we might see some practical guns made for it.

Does anyone know much about the efficiency of .25-06?
Also, Daily reminder that both .30-30 and .45-70 are superior to .308 for hunting in the woods. The only time where hunting with a spitzer bullet is superior to a big heavy flat nose, is long distance over a corn field or doing something like elk and mountain goat hunting in the west.

The only one in that list that couldn't be found in literally every store that sells ammo.
Got a 7mm Mauser inherited from my grandfather. Gotta get more ammo for it. Only have 19 rounds and haven't shot it in almost 4 years. I also save the brass for when I eventually reload but my money is going to necessary guns first.
Keep hearing 7mm Mauser is an excellent deer cartridge. Can anyone confirm?
>>33678441
7mm Mauser is fantastic for deer, was one of the premier red deer calibers in Britain. Not too hard to get if you look for it, should be at least one LGS in your area that has it.

.25-20. The rifle is a pump action marlin, and its been in my family since my great grandfather.
Does anyone else only buy firearms chambered in common rounds?
It always sounds fun getting something in 300 blackout, or .17 HMR, or 22-250, but I never seem to justify it over a more common chambering.
Currently .22lr, 9mm, .38/.357, 7.62x39, .223, .308, 7.62x54r, 12ga, .410, 20ga,

Why do fudds have like 500 nearly identical rounds for hunting deer? (each at $2 a round)

being a poor fag i regret getting a .45 1911 and loving it. Shits 50% more expensive to feed than a 9mm. Cant even imagine relying on a gun that costs $.50 or more per round to practice with unless i was filthy rich.

Internet only, or do you see them on shelves?
>>33683373
>Enough to kill a sheep/goat?
at close range yes
>>33681438
They evolved differently and for different purposes.
You had old blackpowder rounds, different military rounds for every nation, wildcat experimental rounds that became popular, rounds designed for leverguns, autoloaders, hunting pistols, whatever.
Perhaps the biggest bunch of deer rifles are either military surplus or sporting rifles chambered to take advantage of cheap surplus ammo. Yes, a lot of that stuff like .303 British used to be cheap. In fact not too long ago, nearly all ammo was much cheaper than it is now.
>>33683373
You still see a lot of those. It's an old blackpowder round that was used in pocket revolvers. Still used in Cowboy Action shooting, can also be shot out of 32 H&R Magnum and 327 Federal Magnum revolvers.
>>33658734

>>33683419
>Works in .32 magnums
See, I didn't know that. I primarily know it from the Hammerli and Benelli Target pistols.
How best to compare .32SW to .32 ACP, and I guess, .32 HR?
My personal hell of..
.375 Nitro Express 2½" Velopex in a decrepit Lee Speed I'm going to inherit someday.
My current hell is tolerable though, got a bunch of IHMSA .357 Maximum brass to reload and a handful of two-piece Elgin Gates built .357 SuperMagnum brass. All for my .357 Maximum Dan Wesson.
>>33683446
25 and 32 acp were called "mouseguns". a step up from 22lr but still weaker than even 380 auto. Supposedly you can even shoot 32acp in 32 H&Rs because it's semi-rimmed.
32 S&W was an old, weak blackpowder round that came before the 32 S&W Long. So slow you can see the bullets flying downrange.
The 32 H&R came around in 1984 and makes for a decent small game or personal defense cartridge. It's around the 38 special performance-wise, but flatter shooting, plus its narrower diameter allows for 6-shot cylinders where most compact 38s are 5-shot.
>>33683641
Not your fault, I should have clarified that I wanted a comparison with .32 SW Long, not SW.
My takeaway is, it's on the powerful end of the varmint scale, but probably not enough for human threats beyond midget size.
The idea of a more powerful target pistol is enticing, though...
>Inherited a 458 win mag Model 70
>Want to shoot it
