School shooter memes aside, I was considering just getting a well made greatcoat or trenchcoat as outerwear for when mild/wet environments. Think it may work for a greyman setup?

Don't be ridiculous. Anon was kind enough to knock it down to only $500+ for pants.

No, I dropped way more on a lot more than a couple, going to skate out with about 2k profit.

I asked, no response yet. It looks like a smoke green paraclete something, just don't know what model.

That's a Gen 1 Diamondback Tactical Predator armor carrier (ranger green) with what looks to be assorted DBT pouches.
>>
>>33654500
pretty sure it's not paraclete, more likely its DBT or something

The 'clete RMV/RAVs don't have rectangular velcro at the top chest area, it's cut to angles where they meet the shoulders.

No

If by grey man you mean you don't stand out in any way, I'd suggest clothing that doesn't stand out in any way. Great- and trenchcoats look like, as you just indicated, something school shooters wear.
>>
>>33654211
>Is [piece of conspicuous clothing] greyman?

Ever time. You guys trying to be the greymen of the world manage to both over and under think how to pick out clothes.
>>
>>33654211
grey man means jeans and a tshirt. it means you blend in with everyone around you. it means you dont fucking wear military boots and 5.11 pants and fucking great coats in public.
>>
>>33654211
In a coat like this you'd look like you enjoy butt stuff, which is a different kind of grey man's activity

FYI SKD is having a 10.4% off sale this weekend and Slicksters are back in stock. What you do with this info is up to you :^)

Would /gq/ be interested in a massive info dump? I kind of did one a few threads ago but my shit was unorganized. I've since organized it nd sorted stuff that is relevant to /gq/ (about 100 files worth).

Recommend me an entry-level plate carrier that isn't garbage.

I have no idea where to look for reliable stuff like this, and all Amazon wants to sell me is cheap shit.

Now for medical!
>>
>>33657533
This is asinine. You want high sodium for strenuous activity.
Pissing, and sweat are the primary ways your body is losing salt. The salt is essential for your body to retain water, and not instantly piss it out. That's why products like Gatorade and other sports drinks exist.
There are multiple accounts of runners getting fucked up despite drinking non-stop water because they had no salt in their system.

Not sure if I'm a fan of all these half baked guides. I'm fine with guidelines and "how to get started" stuff but actual attempts at guides are far too simplistic, have too many holes and should never be a substitute for actual training or classes so imo shouldn't even be posted because then anon's might think they know how to use their IFAK contents now with a picture guide and then fuck up seriously.

Because I am not entirely convinced ceramics is superior enough to warrant the price difference. With the antispalding coating the primary reason you get ceramics over steel is pretty much matched. Plus then you end up with a plate that stands up better to multiple hits.

which ones the tiger stripe ones from cantatical? trllz is having them made. They are pretty much exact copies of cryes made of non super gucci fire proof materials
>>
>>33665819
They're Crye-cut Drifire pants in M81 Woodland, MARSOC style. The price is driven up because airsofters and collectors want what their favorite special operations dudes wear and because they're not commercially available regularly like normal Cryes are. OP was able to pull some strings and buy some wholesale or something like that, and he is just moving them. He offered them here at cost for the memes and intends to sell the rest at inflated prices to airsoft LARPers (likely in Hong Kong and Japan).
>>
>>33665725
You obviously didn't google antispalding because it would have came up as basketball equipment, because there is no such thing as antispalding. It's anti spalling. Spall is the chunks of metal that go flying when a larger piece of accelerated metal disintegrates.

Your saying that the ANTISPALLING coat(which is just a thin layer of lineX or any truck bed liner) on steel, combined with its multi hit capabilities makes it better per cost than ceramics. But what you are not thinking about is the fact that every time that plate gets hit, it's taking off that coating. And I'm sorry to tell you that 500d or 1000d, whatever your pouches are made of, probably won't stop bits of metal that are flying possibly at 1000 fps. You will see this argument every forum you go to, that has anything to do with armor, and we will continue to see this back and forth of "steel is heavy, spalling will fuck you up" vs "it's cheap and has antispalling layer" that's because no one who actually has a real possibility of getting shot will use steel. That's because ceramics are proven and make since in the real world. Ceramics can take multiple hits as well, you can see it in plenty of YouTube videos, but there are two big differences. Ceramics won't send shards of copper jacket and lead every where, and they actually absorb a lot of the bullets energy. Steel will spall(eventually, even with coating) and it will transfer a lot more of the energy to the wearer.

I've watched you post for about the past week, and if you value your money at all, and want to have an affordable setup, that is quality and actually works well, then I suggest you cancel your order and lurk here longer and ask more productive and well thought out questions. If you just want plates and a place to put mags, have fun, run around your house and feel cool, then by all means, throw them plates in and get to it. But if you post your shit in here then, don't b butthurt when everyone tells you how retarded your shit is
>>
>>33665868

>>
>>33665866

>>
>>33665781

>>
>>33665988
i dont know when the ETA is but they should open for ordering soon. but they are usually around 130 for a pair
>>
>>33665977
These ones are made with Drifire fire-resistant material and are in M81 Woodland. Otherwise, they are identical to the standard Crye ones. Like I said, the price is driven up by collectors and airsofters who want them because they're not standard production, but just made on special order for MARSOC. The AOR1 versions are basically the same way as this, except it is SEAL fans that want them.
>>
>>33666102
Holy shit thats sad. People will actually pay double the price so they get fire resistant pants will a marginally different color scheme? I thought the basic Crye woodlands were M81 as it is?
>>
>>33666376
It's really no different than collectors paying hundreds of dollars more for a Korean War capture Nork Tokarev than for a Romanian import, or than collectors paying thousands upon thousands of dollars for a shitty Trejo .22LR machine pistol from Mexico when they can get an American-made MAC that is significantly more reliable for thousands of dollars less. They just want the rare things.

>spalling
Well now I feel silly. Someone mentioned 'spalding 'in here and I just assumed that was the correct term for it.

Thanks for the information but I will retain the steel plates. I've watched quite a few videos and the anti-spalling coating seems to contain the fragments. Any time chunks of it are taken out it the pieces are still captured going to the sides. I don't mind if some fragments bounce back forward. The energy transfer is a legitimate concern but I don't mind some bruising to save $300.
>>
>>33666496
>bruising

You are going to get bruised most likely with ceramics. My concerns with steel energy transfer is directed more at breaking a rib and puncturing a lung and possibly stopping your heart.

No one minds the steel spall bouncing back at the shooter, it's the metal that goes up and down. As I said, in the vid you posted, right after he fired the first couple shots, they had already broke the coating. If you watch slow motion videos of bullets hitting steel, you will see the bullet fragments and creates a ring of spall that goes up, down and both sides. Will the coating stop that first from spalling? Very much probably will. Will is top the second? Most likely. After that, if it hits near the previous hits where the lining was broke, then it's lost a lot of that protection, and it's not guaranteed to stop all the spall any of those times. Watch a vid of bullets hitting steel and it will really make you think.

The reason you saw someone say spalding is because it's a running joke. Because atleast once a month someone comes in here who has done their "research" for a couple weeks and the "know" lineX coated steel is the best thing for them to get in their price range. Sometimes they get convinced that they are wrong(because, trust me, they are) and decide against it, or they refuse to listen, or they don't get anything and knew in their hearts of hearts they weren't anyway because they couldn't afford it anyway.

Ceramics can take a lot more shit than people act and think they can. It's not fragile porcelain. There is a real reason that no professionals use steels.
>>
>>33666462
that's neat but i'm not going to do any mods on this one. I will use my more modern alice gear for that shit.
>>
>>33666376
There is no such thing as basic crye woodlands, that's the kicker. The only way to get crye in the M81/woodland pattern is the Cryefires, or chasing down the pre-drifire Crye ACs/G3s in 50/50 ripstop, which are far rarer.
>>
>>33664919
are you retarded? Should have asked here, you can get Hesco ceramics for like $170
