I've never had something take more than 3 days and I've had about 10 small packages in the last 2 years. (scope, stock set, things like that)

There are guys on here that talk about getting stalled in customs for months, but I'm not sure if that's US or Russian customs, and I think it's very rare.

I know this is an ak thread and not a stupid shit thread; but this guy at my work will not stop boasting about how he has an authentic ak74. Lets not even start at posturing, but he claims it was semi auto and 'his uncle filed down the firing pin to make it automatic'. This is call of duty tier shit comrades.

I guess the reason for this post is help and guidance on how to deal with mentally disabled people and/or dealing with misconceptions in general about aks.
>>
>>33652805
design isn't easily defined, its like art. They represent specific epochs, and are a physical manifestation of the state of mind of the designers. Even the state of the society itself. Russian technology and thinking was so different than what are surrounded by in the US.

basically you aren't paying for a magazine to feed rounds per se, and the price itself is lol market capitalism
>>
>>33652905
>filed down the firing pin to make it automatic
I wish I knew the origin of this meme. I hear it often.
>>
>>33652914
So aesthetics. Your pretty words can't hide your nonexistant point. 100 dollars for a flat looking magazine that has nothing special about it. 50 dollar for stamped magazines... Come on.
>>
>>33652936
Here we go again. Have you ever heard of a collectors market? It doesn't need to make sense to you to be a reality.

There are people who pay extravagant prices for fucking spoons, wine, cards, etc...

Think of this as the high end world of the AK market. Go buy your shit korean and functional euro steel mags. I happily pay a higher premium for mags that function, are unique, have incredible history behind them, look fucking awesome/beautiful, are vastly different than any other rifle magazine array, etc...

This along with other reasons has the RUssian market for items very high. It's supply vs demand. Look at the price of Chinese gear and its on par if not exceeding most of RU prices in comparison.

Have a photo of a NK quadstack instead.

And people collect 91/30 mosins too, doesn't make it not stupid.
Hundreds of thousands if not millions of them produced in most cases and you think they're rare lol
Them looking good is your opinion, so what it comes down to is aesthetics. Fuckin' millennials spending their parents money on overpriced shit.
>>
>>33653035
wtf they don't look like they've been starving have I been lied to?
>>
>>33652993
You're normally not an ass. But your collection fucking sucks compared to most of the posters here. You have nothing unique or interesting besides the bizon mag. You and the other mag dealers think they run shit because you've all worked deals with Russian anons to not sell individually and have first chance at anything rare thus driving up the price for your average collector. It's funny I've been watching from afar as who brings in what and time after time it's the same group of jackasses.
>>
>>33653045

Haha I am not speaking of bakelite mags of the run of the mill. Talking the actual rare prototypes. Sure there may exist more over there but prior to a year or few ago some of the mags (steel 7.62 quadstack) were not even known to exist.

Also the guys who have bought mags for $1,000-$2,000 have been well past their 30's, generally. Sure some younger guys are collectors but not on the high end level.

>>33653064
I don't give a fuck about a collection as I am not driven to impress people with mags that will never see use or a range. At one point I wanted to have said mags but I got over that a long time ago.

While my collection may suck I can say I have got to handle and play with the majority of the rare mags that have come into the country. Can you say that?

My contacts sell individually on the regular contrary to your apparent knowledge. Rare and Regular mags so maybe check that fact again. Next, prices being driven up? On the contrary every mag proto and rare has seen a downshift in market pricing. There is no instance of mags rising in price in the last year to any great degree. I don't bring in many protos unless asked or on the DL I don't need to display all I bring in to the world my friend. =)

The group of people bringing thing sin may be small to you but it beats next to nothing coming in 3-5 years ago. Remember when what are considered normal mags now were $200 a few years ago...
>>
>>33653083
Oh that? You see that allowed me to not only sell the that drum but I sold the 2nd I had laying around for my sale price instead of the lower raffle price.

It's all a game my friend. One way or another I know how to get the $ Sorry that upsets you so much.

Finances come and go, I am sitting good but thanks for the concern. I sold more than enough back stock to feel good again. Also 175x bake 30 7.62 mags coming my way shortly. All is well.
>>
>>33653082
>>33653070
That's not at all what I was saying and you know it. Way to show your hand instantly, as soon as someone disagrees with you they're on the opposite side and you ball up your fists and start crying. Fucking children.

A 5 dollar hungarian magazine works just as well as your 100 dollar magazine, you just want something that looks fancy that only you and 1/1000 people will recognize.

Depends on the bottle. Not that anon but here in new york my brother goes around every year looking for them; most places don't have them because of the waiting list but occasionally you can find them for their normal price of around 140 dollars, and then he sells them for 1600. There are like 8 different kinds of pappy, for example the bottle in your collection is on their low tier and sells for 120$ at stores, anyone can buy it and put it on the internet for whatever price they want.

I think that's what the anon was saying half way up this thread. Just because you're dumb enough to pay what you think it's worth doesn't mean everyone else is.

True there are several Pappy offerings. The Pappy 20 is $150ish retain and then $1000-$1500 resell.

The Rye is around $100 retail and $1000-$2000 resell. Only higher value Pappy is the 23 year old.

I have 2x 20year bottles and 1x Rye. The empties along with bag still sell around $100. Its nuts!
>>
>>33653371
40 bottles wouldn't fit in that tiny nightstand.
But you're right anon, you've got me. Hey what do your friends and family think about your entire life savings(apparently) being invested in piece of plastic that are worthless? You can get bakelites in russia for like 3 dollars a piece, but here you are 'investing' in them as you've said.

When you don't have a lot in life and even less financially to work with, the last thing you want to do is invest in a stale market that gets you fucked. What are you going to do, open a store? Resell them? Armslist them? Ebay? lol you said you didn't want to 'invest' in something you just drink away but do you honestly think you're going to make a profit off ak mags?
>>
>>33653390

The chances of getting pappy are so dumb that is why the resell market exists, also recent hype in the last 5+ years.

Pappy also only releases twice per year, one big and a 2nd smaller.

There we go. Showing off how you blindly follow things you read on the internet when you have no idea what you're talking about.

By your original picture here >>33653285, no it doesn't look like 40 bottles could be put on this but as you've added another photo I guess you could? I'm still not sure if you're trying to show off your empty bottle collection or a thousand dollars in liquor you've already drank away....
>>33653543
This is what I'm thinking. Honestly not a lot of substance to this bakerus guy but everyone has to admit, he made someone else a nice chunk of change and has a lot of plastic to show for it.

>>33653608
True, just seems weird how many there are in comparison to every other AK74 model looking through the pictures. There's a lot of sexy wood+triangle 74s too

Various roles depending on the size of the venue, I am newer to the industry and like all things started at the bottom so to speak. Production runner/assistant work which in time translated into running my shows at mid cap venues around 400-600 people.

Today I am a gopher/liason/jack of all trades working at a 1,700 cap venue. I love what I do and who I work with, I don't make massive money and the money made from the mag game has supplemented my life style nicely.

For all the hate you are correct I have done quite well in terms of return on my investment. Since it's fluid I can't give an exact number but I know its a 5 figure addition to my income. America Fuck Yeah.

Live in TX. Work in Austin and Las Vegas. Possible we know similar individuals especially if they tour. I have never dealt with Henry myself, Glen Danzig was a prima-donna and upset when picking him up because we were late due to an accident on the freeway.

Mr. Danzig was not impressed with said reasoning.

I have no argument here, aesthetically you are 100% correct they are unique to each mag/mold.

What I meant to say is in terms that the mag will function mold #17 and #56 all the same. The only difference is the mold and thus the variations betweens the molds. I stand corrected and further expanded upon.

Sweet photo, thanks!

They probably just got their hands on some Russian guns and parts, it's not like 74Ms are exclusive to the Russian military and will disintegrate when touched by anyone else

I watched a documentary a while back about people in Africa who combat poaching and there were like a half dozen African guys with what appeared to be 74Ms (couldn't get a very good look for absolute recognition but they had black polymer furniture with a folding stock, smooth top cover, 90 degree gas block, long collar brake, etc) and that was weird. They're out there though and it makes sense that they'd be in Ukraine as their involved in that conflict

I know that but the most likely way they're getting long collar brakes would be off other rifles unless someone found a crate of just long collar brakes, so it seems weird they're keep the older rifle and move the brake to it. Or bother replacing just the brake at all

>>33654400
In an ideal world 100% is always the goal. This time last year that was possible. At this point it can fluctuate between 10%-50%+ on average. Multiple other individuals doing the same and also not every mag comes in the same condition. I may pay $25 for one set of mag and have multiple variations of condition from used-new. So I sell that $25 mag lets say for between $30-40 depending on condition. Also is there a unique cryllic or a unique mold that makes certain mags worth more.

Then take in to account potential bulk deals etc...

I go through and hand clean and sort/grade each mag and thus I price my mags on a sliding scale as opposed saying a flat number.

>>33654420
Cheers I will offer items there lower than I will otherwise, not on every item but for the most part. Feel free to post guns and ammo there, thus far no banned posts/users.

Bring in more people you can vouch for, I am almost always civil on there vs here also.

Looks great. Get a real side folder installed on that puppy.
>>
>>33658685
Thanks. The rifle is a Bulgarian 74. I'd like to put a 74m sidefolder on, but I'm not sure I want to fuck around with the trunnion and all that stuff. I'd probably prefer to keep this one original. I might get another fixed stock off kvar, the original is pretty scratched up.

The build was a ton of fun, I took my time to do it right. Especially on the headspacing.

I'd like to do an AK-74m for my next build

Would anyone be interested in .STL or .IGES files of any specific AK mags? I never thought of doing this before, but I have access to a micro-CT, and I can get micron-resolution scans of something about that size.
I've used it to 3D print things like small bony structures and ball grid arrays but this thread has me thinking we could pirate russian mag designs-specifically bakelite
>>
>>33660464
Problem is the recreation of the materials after the 3-D print is taken. Stamps/molds + the machinery.

Great idea for preserving some of the more rare/unique mags however. Also cool for those that want to have proto mags like the waffles/steel ribbed/quadstack etc to be recreated in multiple forms.

According to the Blue Book at 100% (new in box) it's worth $1850.
Now how that translates into the real world, it's up to the seller.
More likely it'll be a lot more, probably double that because of rarity.

As far as I know Zenit-Belomo is using original blueprints, or at least was at some point. Technically Zenit-Belomo doesn't exist since that was its name when the USSR still existed, it became just Belomo when everything split and they went back to Belarus. Zenit-Belomo produced military optics for the USSR and now Belomo makes the same optics for the civilian market since they're not under the same export laws as Russia

I think Zenit is also a camera company in the Eastern Bloc somewhere now

So apparently, after some googling, what I've found is that what I always called Belomo, is really Zenit-Belomo located in Belarus and they make scopes, cameras, binoculars, automotive carburetors, precision scales, and possibly other things. And Zenit is a different company located in Moscow and they make stocks and other gun accessories.
