Two shot microscopic pistols, with or without trigger guard. 2" barrels, 357 mag or 45lc down to 22lr.
Would you carry pic related? These seem perfectly reasonable for self defense against muggings or other short range encounters. Not every self defense situation is going to be a hollywood shootout with 3894147 spitzer rounds fired.
Convince me not to go to the gun shop and order one of these guys.
Two rounds of .38 Special +P or 9mm Luger isn't terrible, but that gun looks very snaghappy.

No get a LCP or similar micro. But you aren't old enough to carry much less buy a gun so this thread is pointless.

Not a bad idea if you're just shooting unarmed niggers. (Autocorrected from muggers) however, if your assailant is armed I'd probably go with a club over that thing followed by a small center fire revolver or Auto. Because bullets are terrible at stopping humans quickly unless you shoot the central nervous system. So more tries at hitting something that stops them is better than fewer.

What I don't get about derringers other than having a pocket shotgun is why not get a revolver?
You can get a firearm that has 3x the capacity, same size, same weight, and about the same price as a Bond Arms. Only difference is Bond Arms have the option to change calibers which is nice.
>>33651307
Yeah I'd carry a derringer. I don't really like the style of the over under derringers honestly. I'd probably carry something more along the lines of pic related.

>You can get a firearm that has 3x the capacity, same size, same weight, and about the same price as a Bond Arms
You will get them in .22 or something similarly puny though and that's the problem. Derringers on the other hand can have .45 acp if you want.
They are MAYBE useful as some kind of backup weapons for LEO's or something.
>>33651497
Because trash derringers sell for $150 and bix noods and joses have to enter the market somewhere.
I'm pretty well convinced now to stay away. It could be neat as a backup inside-the-ankle piece, but carrying a knife on your belt seems more useful. Looking at RIA wheelgats for cheap 38 fun.

>They are MAYBE useful as some kind of backup weapons for LEO's or something.
you are why police are so ineffective at literally everything
>>33651379
I don't understand why those are a thing beyond novelty.
>>33651533
Derringers have short barrels so have fun with that .45ACP
Meanwhile, something like an SP101, LCR or Glock 26 is pretty damn compact and can fit 5 or more rounds
>>33651534
The COP 357 makes me think one could make a pretty nice and slim .38 Special revolver with a 4 shot cylinder and possibly a folding grip (depending on how short you can make the mainspring, etc).
So basically a better gun. Maybe not as cool, but nice and nifty.

Anon...
IDEA!
The Cop Derringer, but scaled up to .45-70!
>derringer
>.45-70
Enjoy having not just a broken wrist, but all the bones in your arm liquefied.
>>33652322
Faggot, with a really short barrel like that very little of the powder will be burnt and it will be mostly noise and flash.
Recoil will probably be pretty brisk due to the weight of the bullet, but it will have very little time to accelerate (or spin stabilize), and a lot of the pressure just blows out, not even close to as much force comes back.
If I wanted or needed to have some springy arm gizmo that let me carry guns on my forearms and deploy them instantly, maybe, but the problem with that is you have to wear a jacket constantly.
>>33651307
I carry pic related with one hard ball and one snakeshot round when I'm doing yard work and don't want to lug around my FNS 9. It's pretty handy
>>33652322
No.

better than fists but I'd rather have a small .32 auto if size is an issue
>>33651307
>Two shot microscopic pistols
I prefer seven shots of .380.
there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to own a derringer, especially not for self-defense, there are better options in every possible way
that being said, they're fun little guns and better than throwing a shoe at somebody
>>33651307
Hell no. If you can carry one of those toys, you can carry a pocket .380. I wouldn't even feel capable of taking someone on with less than 6 rounds. Just imagine yourself on the ground wrestling with some nigger trying to stab you and how easy it will be to work that single action with your free hand.
If you need to carry something ultra-compact for some reason, say wearing tailored formal wear or maybe it's T-shirt and shorts weather, then a pen gun makes a bit if sense. A derringer is still bulky enough that you might as well go for an eensy Walther P22, but a pen gun gives you one shot plus kaboton functionality once it's been fired. Not ideal, but one shot with stabby follow-up ain't too bad for situations where a proper pistol just isn't viable.
>>33656524
its also an AOW
>>33656554
And your point is?
I carry one in my pocket literally every day. It's SOOOO easy to carry you forget you have it. Shoots like shit and beats the crap out of your hand though.
>>33656524
My seecamp fits nicely in the pocket of my swimming trunks/shorts
>two shot derringers
Those are obsolete in every measurable way.
Getting one for funsies? Fine.
For actual self-defense? Beyond idiotic.
>>33656765
The derringer is noticeably smaller, and fires a larger round. Completely recent for cc
>>33656323
>>33656636
What caliber is it?
>>33658058
nevermind im a retard
I have an American Derringer M1 in .44magnum. It literally kicks like a mule, I have had it since about 93. I carry it as a backup not a primary. The bottom bbl is accurate out to about 20 ft, the top bbl a little closer.

beat me to it. At least you learned something today.
