Fighting a guerrilla war without an identifying uniform makes things really fuzzy in the "not supposed to shoot" catagory.

Japan tried that and all it meant was that most of them died in those tunnels of either dehydration or flamethrowers. Sure it slowed the US down clearing them out and they killed a lot of men in surprise attacks but it's not a particularly viable strategy. Now we don't even have to send men into them, just wait for a drone to spot activity then collapse the entrance with artillery or missiles.

A truly effective and long term guerrilla movement relies on the support of the populace, and that won't happen once we start feeding them.

That was my original thought as well, but if you look at the mount the rpk's arent even clamped on all that rigidly and there seems to be no method for remote firing.
