Frankly it'd take extreme stupidity or an extreme lack of care to start WW3.

In all likelihood, if WW3 starts in the next couple of years, it'll happen thanks to the work of some ultra-nationalistic soldier or commander who decides to shoot down a US aircraft over Syria, or decides to start shelling Seoul, etc.

Kim Jong-Un doesn't want his little kingdom to be destroyed and he grew up in Europe, so he knows his military is shit; only chance of him starting something is if there's a coup attempt that appears to be the work of the CIA, South Korea, etc; Assad isn't on a strong footing and owes quite a bit to Russia who don't want a spicy world war either, so he wouldn't be dumb enough to outright engage the US while half his country is already overrun.

Maybe Iran (because they're having an election soon) could start some shit, but I don't know how that would turn into a world war.
