Walther PPKS .380ACP, how good of a concealed carry handgun is it for selfdefence?
>>
It's pretty poor by today's standards (partially because most of the ones made today aren't that amazingly manufactured).

If you like that kind of style of pistol, the Bersa Thunder is very similar in conception but much better designed.

>inb4 leon vulva autism

Just needs to be

>one shot kill
>reliable in every way

>one shot kill
No such handgun.
>>
>>33643713
Unless you can find and older one, but new production PPKS' are piss flavored ass.
>>
>>33643835
Shot placement brah
>>
>>33643713
.32>.380
>>
>>33643767
Bersa seems really nice, thanka
>>
>>33643851
Shot placement is important, but handguns are ultimately just very mediocre at stopping, if you only shoot once, you'll have to hope that the guy realizes he's been shot and decides to fuck off or surrender.

It's really not unknown for people to be shot (even repeatedly) with service pistols and they either power through it with adrenaline, or they don't even realize it, sometimes it can take a few moments for the pain to set in and for the bloodloss to start making headway.

I think shooting a few times, centermass, regardless of what caliber you're carrying, is the best way to be sure with CC.

No.

For normies there's better and more convenient options nowadays. Nothing beats the aesthetic though.

>>33643869
Bersas are known to kaboom big time lmao
>>
>>33643713

Carry a full sized gun or you're a gay
>>
>>33643713
I conceal a ppk clone called a bersa thunder..hasn't had any issue after at least 2000 rounds..great hand feel and accuracy. .380 vs 9mm debate etc bullshit, but one possible fault is the safety maybe.
>>
>>33643713

no

25lb DA trigger pull

jam-o-matic
>>
>>33643713
I have an interarms ppks from the 70's. Nice gun, but its heavy for its size. Think id rather carry a glock
>>
.380 is obsolete as a CC round in 2017. You can get a single-stack 9mm in the size of any of the old-school .380 pistols.
>>
>>33643923
Yes. Making a .06 inch bigger hole isn't worth having way more recoil.
>>
>>33643835
>What is .500 S&W?
Fuck, I'd die just because he could hit me with the 500gr lead cylinder. But alas, you can't conceal that well... Or can you?
>>
>>33644061
t. retarded 20 year old tripfuck
>>
>>33643869

bersa total gamble on quality you might as well buy 3 of them and hope 1 of them still works after shooting 500 rds thru it

So are you just one person making this thread over and over or did someone use a PPK on TWD or what?
>>
>>33644771

.380ACP penetrates deeper and has less trouble penetrating bone.

Penetration is important as shit with defensive guns, there's loads that make .32ACP viable, but .380ACP will outperform it at any rate.
>>
>>33644061
Kill yourself faggot

>Bersa Thunder

My dad bought a Bersa Thunder and that thing bricked itself within 100 rounds because the barrel had a failure and expanded enough to stop the slide. Bersa's warranty process was such a pain in the ass that the gun's just sitting in the garage rusting now.

The grips were fucking great though, I'll give it that.
>>
>>33643869
I've carried a Bersa Thunder for over a decade now. Put a few thousand rounds through it. There are lemons from all manufacturers. Remember that /k/ hates anything from South America whether the hate is warranted or not.
>>
>>33644996
>.380 is better than .32 because you're too retarded to buy decent ammo
>>
>>33645289
The best .380 ammo will outperform the best .32 ammo
>>
>>33645086
Sounds like an aberration. Bersa thunders are pretty well regarded and tend to be fairly reliable. also that's a very interesting sounding failure to say the least, sounds an awful lot like a bulged barrel from firing after a squib.
>>
>>33645397
>sounds an awful lot like a bulged barrel from firing after a squib

That was the first thing I thought but the gunsmith I took it to found no obstructions.
>>
>>33645450
Your not going to find an obstruction if you fire again after having a squib the second round will push the first out and fuck up the barrel in the process.
>>
>>33645327
Yes, we've been over this, they'll be a whopping .06 inches bigger, and with way more recoil.
>>
>>33645482
>Your not going to find an obstruction if you fire again after having a squib

I once had an earlier experience with firing after a squib and that's precisely what happened so forgive me if I take your post with a shaker of salt.

That might've been an exception but that's also 100% of my personal experience with squibs, or at least what I know to have been a squib.
>>
>>33645490
It's not the width of the hole you mongonaut, it's the depth of the hole.
>>
>>33645490
Yeah except in the XTP, the 380 is able to penetrate to FBI min 12 inches while expanding.

If you're going fmj then there is no appreciable difference as both will make a tiny hole and penetrate all the way through
>>
The Bersa is absolutely not made better than the Walther. But it is lighter, more comfortable to shoot, and handles recoil better. The Bersa also has a very nice DA pull. The caveat is the thing is a budget South American aluminum frame blowback pistol. They do not have long life cycles and it feels kind of cheap, especially the grip panels, decocker, and finish. And it is Courtney Love levels of filthy out of the box. There are several models of it and I would bet they spend more time on the new CC versions, although those have the most complaints. If you can get a cheap one try it out and then go looking for an old Walther if you still have a boner for it.
>>
>>33643835
There is if you shoot them in the head or heart.
>>
>>33644324
>.380
>way more recoil

Are you a woman?
>>
>>33645531
And both hit 12 inches, so that's not an argument.
>>
It's fine. But there are better options. The polymer single stack 9 market is cliched and over saturated, however they're lighter and more powerful.

PPK can work fine if that's what you really want. It's accurate, reliable, and concealable. Modern guns do all of that better though.
>>
>>33643713
>Not at least 9+1 of 9mm or better
0/10 would never carry.
>>
Wouldn't carry.

Smith Shield in 9MM is as small as I'll go or a snubbie .38. 380 is too weak. Most rounds don't meet FBI standards plus ammo tends to be less reliable.

You can get a Smith Shield in 9mm for cheap now. Shoots softer than any 380 I've shot. More reliable. Better in every regard.
>>
Shoot what you feel most comfortable shooting.

Whether it's .32 ACP, 9x18 Makarov, 9mm Luger, or .45 ACP.
>>
>>33645520
>this thing happened once so that's how it happens every time

Bruh
>>
>>33643713
I heard the Germans didn't like the PPK in .380, they favoured the .32 Auto.

If you have your heart set on a PPK you can look up the POLISH P64 in 9x18 MAK. Looks very similar, similar design. I'd get one but ive never seen em for sale in Australia and CBF importing from states for the price of the gun.
>>
>>33646718
12 inches is of gel is the bare minimum, the .380 can simply perform better.
>>
>>33650448
P64 are fucking trash

Op just get a Glock 19 in all seriousness. I k ow they are overpriced and ugly as shit but you don't want to be a special snowflake when your life is on the line. Just go get a polymer wonder and keep the fun shit for plinking.
>>
>>33643797
Pistols are actually pretty shit at killing people.
>>
>>33644061
Except, maybe, Mauser HScs, Colt 1908s, and of the old FN pocket pistols, And, you guessed it, Makarovs

Hey guys
Found some Police issued .380 ACP in my grandfathers stuff while cleaning his things.
Not sure how old they are, or if they'll work, they were sitting I a garage that was subject to seasonal temperature change.
Think they'll still work?
>>
>>33653313
>Think they'll still work?

Yes. I've fired WW2 surp .45acp with one FTF after about 200 rounds. I'd use them on the range rather than in a carry situation, though.
