We're basically Canada with a few months off License approval time, and even then I bet you could get in trouble for owning an SKS in certain parts here if they deem it an "Assault Weapon".

I live in Mass. Literally too much of a hassle to get into guns. Something like $1,000 in licensing, safety courses, and other miscellaneous fees before you even buy a gun or ammo.

Also, things done as a minor don't count (unless really severe like murder, and even then it has to do with whether you got charged as an adult, etc).

MA is still less restricted than CA and I would say NY too. We can have preban high caps and CCW etc. No bullet buttons etc. My class was $85 and the fee for LTC is $100 for five years. Everyone at my range shoots AR or AK. Last weekend someone had an ACR. Tavors, ACR, M1A and mini14 are all legal to buy. I got my Glock 19 used for $350. Too many lazy people in this thread

The reason is our state didn't make any new gun laws. Instead our AG reinterpreted (she claims she's just following the law as originally written) the AWB from 1994s text. It originally said copycat AR15s and AKs were banned but no one interpreted it that was federally from 1994-2004 and then in MA from 2004-July 20th 2016.

Tavors, among other MSRs that are legal, hadn't been thought of yet in 1994. But if our AG had her way they'd be banned too.
