I got these in a hippy dippy store, aren't these those knives that were "used in the ritualistic slaughter of goats, and other warm blooded mammals"? Wasn't that an old meme? Tranchete, I think.
Those are gardening billhooks

>billhook ≠ billhook
there isn't a proper term for those in English, but it is still a billhook, not a big one forestry, but for gardening

I've never heard of them being called billhooks, but they are definitely agricultural/utility knives. Best damn working profile I've ever used.

I've always been told they were used by Mexican farmers / herders to skin sheep with, plus be a basic utility knife. I mean I guess you could call that ritualistic sacrifice but it's kinda going out on a limb.

That's a linoleum knife. Very sharp. For skinning and carpet fitting.
I'd rather sacrifice someone with a more dramatic weapon.. like that red tent peg that takes 7 surgeons to sew up wounds inflicted by it.

They were a lot larger, but they followed a similar concept of the hawkbill/billhook design, as they're good as slicing deep
The pocket knives and smaller fixed blade ones are used for slicing various types of flora; you grab the plant/stem/vine in hand and slice with the blade.

In my country we use that shape for mushroom collecting and cleaning. I don't think they ever took part in any ritualistic slaughter, mate, sorry to break your fantasies.

What is fascine knife for $1200 Alex?
>>33639903
Nope, that blade shape has no business in slaughter or butchery. Trimming plant stems, or making straight draw cuts is their bailiwick.
No the knife you're thinking or is called sacatripe. Take out tripe. Yeah they're to gut sheep and shit. Tbh if you take good take of one it'll last you many slaughters. My grandpa gave me his after his hands got too shaky to do the job right. His hands were screwed already from a mortar in Guadalcanal but he had the steadiness of a surgeon. I've used it on three goats so far.
