May have to add a Vetterli to my eventual arsenal checklist for when I have more space and disposable income, I'm already in love with K31s and knew there was something to that weird looking bolt the second I saw it.

Maybe because I live in montana its different but even the mega-hipsters in my apartment are pro gun.

Its probably a regionally specific thing but this apartment complex full of queers and hipsters are all pretty decently armed.

They run around $450 in really good shape.

that's pretty cool mang. I'm in nyc and I'm the only person in my social group who's ever owned or handled a gun. Very few of my friends even like firearms much less want to go shooting. At least my girlfriends are ambivalent.

From my perspective they are more interested in them than their parents are. That may be because I'm in a rural area. Here, their parents own a rifle and shotgun but the millennials own handguns and AR15s.
>>
>>33638877
It's a good theory. I def don't shoot my 10/22 much. I got it when I was 16 back when the ammo was plentiful. 20 y/o with 6 gats.

Also they're expensive for millenials, we don't have big bank accounts.

I'm 24, live in California, own a Corvette, play guitar, and own a 92FS. My next gun will be a 357 revolver or a 44 revolver and then a Remington 870 after that. Yeah, they're kinda "basic", but at least they're tried-and-true, reliable, and not made of plastic like a "LOL WATCH ME BLOW MY OWN FUCKING HAND UP XDDD" polymer Glock. Not all millennials are bad and not all Californians are bad. I hate our stupid laws as much as everyone else does. A lot of us want them gone, but it's getting tougher and tougher to get guns over here with such a small roster and a price hike on everything under the sun.

Took me until senior year of high school to be interested in cars. desu, most millenials who grow up able to afford said cars are drilled to think about college all their school life. Basic car knowledge isnt too hard, but building one as a project or pointing at random parts and asking its name is hard when your father never laid the foundation during the age where knowledge is easily absorbed.

It would explain why poor people have all the tricked out mazdas and shit while rich chad buy ZL1s or Cobras and, at most, add a custom exhaust or rims. Or they never touch it.

They don't, just pointing out that you don't need to spend a terrible amount to have a collection. People here seem to be shocked that a 20 year old can afford so many guns, when in reality most people aren't dropping $3k on a custom AR for every purchase. Hell, even Ian only buys things that are both interesting and exceptionally good deals at the time. He seems to avoid buying popular rifles when they become popular.

Your "point" is irrelevant because there aren't any fresh imports being hocked online anymore, period. They're old surplus rifles. You might as well be complaining that you can't find needle rifles any more for under $800 because Cabela's and Classic Firearms don't sell them online. I can't say anything about your local market, but obviously there are still deals to be had, and realistically, Classic probably still sold $400 K31s when >>33638640 bought his

But they are interested in firearms?
Video games and media have created a huge resurgence of interest in firearms in that generation, which had previously been waning from the boomers onward.
This rising trend will probably continue into generation Z as all data suggests they are going to be the most conservative generation in at least 60 years. A telling sign is that the gun grabber's much loathed "assault weapons" have largely become household items or at the least, common place.
The left is focusing on the LOUD minority of ultra leftist millennials for a reason.

Got a job that pays well, so I used to take the extra spending money and buy milsurp investments. Buy, sell, trade. I've gone through maybe 60 surplus rifles.

Since prices skyrocketed a couple years ago, I quit dealing with milsurp. This is all I have left. I can't bring myself to pay today's prices.

This doesn't include my few modern guns. Or milsurp pistols.

They are interested in firearms. FPS games are easily the most popular among American men. It's like a ritual right of passage to stick a plasma grenade to your friend or play online team death match with your neighbor.

I guarantee every kid on my block over the age of ten could load and shoot an airsoft pistol in under 60 seconds their first time handling it.

Seriously. Give them guns and they will be stoked as fuck. Jews gave them porn and drugs first so you now have to compete with those cheap thrills.

I smoked weed way before I ever got a firearm. I always loved guns though.
>>
>>33640752
Right, I feel you. My thing to ask is "where were you on 9/11?" If they can't answer that in anything but abstracts, I'm not going to be able to identify with them.

But we sure as hell ain't gen X. Most of our youth was spent without technological mediation, true, but it came around early enough that we took to it with ease. Compare that to some late 30s/early 40s fucks that legitimately have trouble navigating e-mail in (current year). We fundamentally understand the degradation of privacy in a way GenXers have trouble with, but we're not as comfortable with it as millennials.

Like I said, I think we're that uncomfortable in-between. To the hipster-americans, we're insufferably old-school. To the GenX, we're entitled millennials. We don't even have a word for where we fit in.

If it's true that we fit in society based on how society accepts us, we're Schrodingers' millennials. Simultaneously millennial and not.

Keep in mind generational classification is a pretty big generality, there will always be people who identify as seperate sub-groups.

I didnt get my first cellphone until right before I shipped out for MCRD in 2010. I grew up with tech available and posessed an understanding of how it worked but im from a small poor rural area in Montana, it was always something occaisionally accessible but not personally owned by most.

While the millinials were "finding themselves" in college and transforming into SJWs as politics devolved into polarized tribal conflicts I wasnt even in the country. For most of it I was either on a combat deployment or home and training for another combat rotation.

I was gone or not available for long enough that the damned country I left behind was gone by the time I EASed. Came home to find out the timber mill had died, the pleasant insulated community around it had dispersed leaving behind only white trash meth heads and a few stubborn die-hards who refuse to admit the good old days in our pocket of what used to be near rockwellian americana are gone.

I dont identify with these blue haired facial pierced crazies, but im also very definiteley not an EXer. I guess its pretty normal for vets to feel displaced and unrelatable but I just really dont meet anyone I feel I entireley see eye to eye with.

Also, kind of like how in america a guy making 20million a year will swear up and down hes middle class like being upper class is a dirty insult, millinials tend to refuse identification as such. Its pretty telling you can walk up to the faggiest nu-male with neon pink hair and a dozen wifi connected devices stuffed into his pockets and he will argue with you for an hour about how he was born in 1989 so that makes him part of generation X. Even the most millinial millinials dont want to be called a millinial. I prefer to call it "the turd in the punchbowl" generation. Nobody wants to deal with this shit.
>>
Born in 98, don't know what the fuck generation I am, me and mates all own at least a deer rifle, shotgun and a 22. As for most people I went to school with, I think they'd rather spend their money on cars and iPhones.

I've been interested in firearms for a long time because anything mechanical gives me a boner, especially seeing slow motion gif on this board. But i don't have any because my parents aren't liberal but aren't pro gun either, I guess you can say that they merely tolerate guns. But there have been multiple shooting and gun shots around my area sof maybe I'd be able to talk them into one. I also live in socal so I'm pretty sure if I mentioned guns in a public area I'd be swatted.

I grew up being told i was Generation X and was already out of college by the time i was somehow shoved into Generation Y because easier to label market demographics.

All that shit about coddled school kids and helicoptor parents? Didn't really exist and we were still referred to as latch key kids in the 90s.

Generation Y was an ever creeping term as time went on
>Authors William Strauss and Neil Howe are widely credited with naming the Millennials.[1] They coined the term in 1987, around the time children born in 1982 were entering preschool
> and the media were first identifying their prospective link to the new millennium as the high school graduating class of 2000
>In August 1993, an Advertising Age editorial coined the phrase Generation Y to describe those who were aged 11 or younger
Now even people born in the 70s are Generation Y
>Synchrony Financial which describes Millennials as starting as early as 1976
>MetLife which uses birth dates ranging from 1977–1994
>Nielsen Media Research which uses 1977–1995

Historically democrats have always been the racist party and Republicans the party that does the most for black people. While there are some Republicans that might be considered racist, for the most part their platforms have always been either neutral or beneficial to minorities. It's just a meme that Republicans are racist and I think that the whole "minorities only vote democrat" thing started with LBJ and since then democrats have used every meme in the book to make Republicans out to be this evil band of white racists keepin' the black man down. However it's arguable that democrats in modern times are the only ones actually doing that, and has to do in large part with their irresponsible pandering and policies towards minorities.

Fun fact, southern Democrats were historically racist as fuck. However, when the south started to become less racist, there was a proportionate rise in the Republican party's popularity. The most racist people you can find in the south are generally older folks that still adhere to "southern democrat" principles and will vote democrat until the day they die.

Thomas Sowell and Dinesh Dsouza both tough on this, if you'd cared to look into it more.

If you are up for a few years of bullshit look into active duty airforce re student loan forgiveness. Not sure what it is now but around 60-80k when I was in the army a decade ago. Then instead of going out to get drunk use your pay to pau off the debt while having no rent, utilities, or food costs that are not discretionary and getting work experience and job training. If you are already working a viable career reserve or national guard and can still get a lot of debt erased they will just have you longer but if air force who gives a fuck

That's true, and there are a lot of worthless courses out there. But at the same time you still need to study and have a career in something you tolerate at least, if not enjoy. There's no point in spening so much of your waking life doing shit you hate. I just left a job that afforded me fairly good, well above average for this commie shithole, financial independence for someone in their early 20s. Because I hated it. I'm going to do a course that will get me into land management and conservation because it's something I enjoy, but I'll be lucky if by 30 I am earning what I was at 24, much less what I would be had I stayed in my previous job.

Today's economy is not conducive to having lots of spare money, the 80s and 90s were a gift that's rarely been seen in modern history. Every other period of time has been spent going in and out of financial crises and recessions of varying severity.

You might strike gold in the US territories. I know PR is literally full of wildlife and undeveloped land, with at least 1 or 2 National Park Tropical rainforests like El Yunque. Our laws may be retarded in terms of getting a renewable permit (Some can be expensive. Also registration and ammo registration but you can bypass that with online sales), but what makes us better is that we don't have the mag and features restrictions of firearms. The local community is also willing to help you out in the process and our firearm store employees are bro tier. Also if you work for the government (National Park employees are included in this), you'll be able to get an automatic shall issue CCW from the court without paying a lawyer to prove you are eligible for CCW.

Damn satan bit salty in hell. Kidding aside lot of truth in college being pushed beyond it being useful paired with employers using a bachelors degree for a position that can be handled with a high school education or at most an associate's degree. This was useful back when you couldn't give iq or aptitude tests as part of the interview process without a lot of lawsuits and degrees were indicative of scholarly aptitude. Now with sjw tier degrees and colleges dedicated to rolling out numbers of questionable 4 year degrees the system is even more dysfunctional

Exactly. But it's like the auto industry asking why Millennials don't like cars. They can't afford them anymore. Most of the older ones migrated to large cities where cars and pistols are more difficult and expensive to own. They grab a light, cheap ccw for general use. >>33642759
No one should blame others for their own poor decisions but "If you don't have a four year degree YOU WILL STARVE TO DEATH" was pushed really hard in schools. If you are young and haven't yet learned or been taught by your parents that adults and authority figures don't always have your best interests in mind/often don't have any idea what the fuck they are talking about this message could have left a pretty significant impression.

The shittiest most hyporitical thing the boomers did wasnt even the conversion from hippy to corporate greed-cuck. They didnt just abandon thier ideals to climb the corporate ladder, they turned around and pulled the ladder up behind them as soon as they got thiers.

They destroyed american manufacturing and shipped it all to china so thier goods could be cheaper, they oblitorated the job market by refusing to retire, theyre living waaaay longer and demanding the generations below them pay for thier retirement, healthcare, and groceeies via social security and medicare

They fist-fucked almost half a century of the most prosperous era in human history just to line thier own pockets then blamed following generations and demanded to be taken care of in old age.

My kid-brother still goes there, theyre stikl telling these kids magical bullshit about how becoming a computer programmer is a garunteed lucrative career even though that hasnt been true since the 90's.

How difficult is it to guarantee that you get money for college when you join the military? Do they try to screw you over, or is it relatively hassle-free to receive tuition money? I'm assuming you're in the US
>>
>>33644574
Yeah, US. Its easy, the hardest part is getting accepted to a college. Then you go to Ebenifits and apply for the post 9-11 GI bill (ought to do this 6 to 4 months prior to school starting).

2-3 months before school starts go in to the campus vets office and give them your DD-214. Even if the payment doesnt clear until a month or so after school starts they still wont put a hold on you or anything.

Biggest pain in the ass is the housing stipend, the earliest it shows up is 30 days late, and for me I was already at midterms before I started recieving my BAH. Other than that nothin to it.

Well aside from completing two combat tours back to back and finishing an enlistment of course. Actually earning it is the hard part, applying it is easy.
>>
>>33644604
Sorry, forgot a step. After you get accepted to the school and your GI bill is approved ya gotta talk to a course planner from the school and enroll in a full credit load, then submit a letter of intent to the school vets office along with your DD-214.

Thanks anons. I've been accepted to 3 universities and started college right after high school, but couldn't keep paying after the first year. Worked for 4 years and went to a communtiy college for 2 years during that time until I couldn't afford to finish. Got into a university in a neighboring state and started working part time, but I (again) couldn't afford more than one semester. Trying to get residency in the new state, but even then with in state tuition I'd like to be able to go to school full time without working full time. I'm getting back into shape now to join the Air National Guard as soon as possible. ASVAB shouldn't be a problem when it comes time to take it and I'm fairly certain I can qualify for the jobs I've been looking at. Does this sound like reasonable plan? 6 year commitment to ANG while getting money for school and working part time?
>inb4 why don't you use FAFSA you moron
When I applied for FAFSA at the first schools I went to, I qualified for $255 per year, so it's not a feasible option.

Right attitude and make sure the state you want to work for gives veteran preference and credits your federal time in their retirement system. As much as NY irks me they keep me employed way better than Delaware, Maryland, or Pennsylvania ever could with a similar degree to yours
>>
>>33644948
Federal tuition assistance is 250 a credit up to 4500 for the year so time your classes. The national guard varies in tuition reimbursement but pass class C or better present paperwork and get what the feds didn't cover back depending on funds available. For Delaware I always got all tuition covered between the two
>>
>>33645320
Yeah, I could get hired on as a flat-foot next week if I wanted (entire family in the area have been firefighters or cops since forever and everyone on the force already knows me). Thing is, law enforcement is becoming a technical field, so just an infantry background isnt gonna be enough in years to come. In the next 15 years its going to be very rare to meet a cop without a bachelors degree in law, criminal justice, or criminology outside of podunk 12 man sherriffs offices.

I think long run having a degree will make me a lot more promotoable down the line. My wife is a rich german lady but I dont wanna be some cuck who lives off his wife's bank account. Probably exactly why she married me.
