Then you do that, since he's obviously cautious and you really don't want to get shot over a wallet. It's more about the idea of removing the mugger from the world.

Wallets aren't that valuable, since you can quickly cancel cards, so you are really only losing some time, the cost of the wallet itself, and whatever cash you had on you.

Buddy of mine got mugged in Madison a few years back.
College town so all the ne'er do wells from Milwaukee and Shitcargo show up every autumn to take advantage of the incoming freshmen.
Buddy tossed his wallet and phone into the street from the sidewalk hoping to distract urban mugger.
He got pistol whipped in the temple and ended up with an oribital fracture that required surgery.
