How do you guys run backpacks/rucksacks over a molle day pack or MAP?

My setup isn't really uncomfortable, it's just wierd trying to adjust the rucksack around the backpack.

How am I supposed to run a day pack when I need to drop my ruck? Carry it in the ruck?

The day pack won't be loaded until I drop my rucksack btw. The only thing in it then is a microfiber cloth and an ifak pouch maliced on the outside.

The it's irrelevant because the only gear and pack swapping you'll be doing is in your mind as you imagine the scenarios you'll never actually go through.

If you were an infantryman, however, you'd have a "rear" to stage your Shit when not in use. Best thing you can do is have a map/hydration pouch that you can attach to your fighting load, a day pack, a ruck/Alice pack and a kit bag. You bring with you only what is necessary for the mission/situation and leave the other two in the rear in a kit bag. There's no reason to ever stack two load carriers on your back at once, unless you're a retard.

Ok I think I've gotten my final two picks down to either the Warrior DCS or the Mayflower plate carrier.

Does anyone have any experience with both?

Also I am torn between straight black and coyote. I like the aesthetic of the tan a bit more but it does make you easier to see at night.

Tan is a better choice if you want to actually use it. Black is for aesthetics or if you belong to a department or agency that requires it. I went with black for my belt rig, but that's because it's just a padded belt for messing around in the woods with a pistol.

As opposed to black, an unnatural color that sticks out like a sore thumb at night? There's a reason why the color midnight is a shade of blue rather than black.

>>33633243
Depending on unit SOP
Yeah, keep the daypack in your ruck, depending on your unit and what you're doing but keep the daypack full of mission essential kit and on top of everything in your ruck.
Reason is for it to act as a grab bag when shit goes pear-shaped and you need to separate from you huge heavy pack.

They'll stop most of the bullets you're likely to get hit with if you get level "III+" plates (they're not actually NIJ rated). The downside is they're heavy as level IV ceramics and may send bits of lead up into your throat.

minus: I do not use the internal dividers. I clipped the sternum and waist straps.

plus: the mount for Streamlight Sidewinder all the time, but the light's normally elsewhere. Boat load of BFG pouches from other stuff that I was not putting to use.

You attach to the outside of ruck obviously. When you set up the orp you disconnect it. I always aimed to have it secured under the top flap of my ruck, but not in the ruck, that way the hydration bladder in it still worked and I used the little included clip to secure the hydration tube to my ruck's shoulder strap.

If it was too bulky I would just use carabiners to attach the molle together
>>
>>33633521
Ok killer. I'll hook you up with some advanced knowledge from being alive for the past 25 years.

Items at night, hold up, do not turn the color black. Black is not a naturally occurring color in nature. If you wear black at night you are darker than literally everything around you and still appear as a silhouette.

Wear the same naturally occurring colors, you'll be camouflaged equally in day and night.

Dude... I even clicked "Gun Belts" and they look generic as fuck. My little brother has a leather belt from Levis that looks exactly like the stuff they sell. His boyfriend wears a similar belt. My girlfriend wears a fucking BDU belt every day because she's a vegan and it was like $2. Nobody gives a fuck what belt you're wearing. Even if you were wearing something with a Cobra buckle or one of those BDU style buckles they put on rigger's belts nobody would really care. It's a fucking belt. As long as you're not wearing Crye pants and a jacket covered in Velcro you're fine. I just saw a ghetto black guy with his jeans hanging half off his ass wearing a Multicam Cobra buckle belt at the gas station the other day. As long as you're not dressed like an autistic wannabe school shooter you're good to go.

I accept that the price is fucking retarded. Drifire spends about 350 per set just to fabricate the material, because it's gold or something, plus Crye's manufacturing costs of 225 per set, things start to add up. The main reason it's so expensive is muh rarity. Thank the airshitters for that.

2 pairs of m81 (1 your size, one XL)
Use big ones for pocket material
Sew yourself
Homemade gucci pants that are "mostly" fire retardant for less than $50 (still less than $100 if you're including the knee pads).

You are the reason Arcteryx and crye get away with putting $500 pants for sale, because retards like you will buy them.

it has large plastic quickrelease buckles that dig into your collar bones in the front and a plastic fastener in the back of each shoulder pad that is annoying as fuck. the loops that dangle off the bottom of the plate carrier get caught on shit all the time. there is too much material which makes it unnecessarily heavy and hot to wear.

>why the fuck is she carrying two radios?
pretty common for leaders in certain SOF units or for JTACs

for a leader:
one radio for assault net (assault team leaders, assault force commander, recce team leaders, the TOC)
One for squad net (just the members of your assault team).

For JTAC:
One for aircraft
One for the squad net.

now 2 of a mix of either 152s or 152As
>>
>>33643449
interesting, i didn't realize you could just make radios better. I thought there was a point having large radios. Does it have to do with batteries being better and them being able to draw more power?
>>
>>33643493
It's not about that, mainly the one advantage was the GPS plugins(cant remember the PRC designation) and whatnot for the 117/118. But the 152A has a built in GPS module, so the need for that is gone. 152s just have better range and less impedence.

>>
>>33640959
If you want to go super fucking cheap IIFS vest with an ALICE belt. You can either use ALICE pouches or MOLLE pouches, although you would have to tie them down to secure them since it's two different attachment systems. The biggest problem here is that issued ALICE and MOLLE magazine pouches have button snaps and flop around a bit on the belt; the MOLLE especially will rise up from the bottom when you open up an enclosure since they don't technically fit onto the ALICE belt, so I don't recommend for magazine pouches unless it's friction/bungee secured.

You could also grab a FLC and get whatever pouches you want. I suggest either Army or Marine rifle mag pouches if you don't mind velcro closure. You can also get the Army 3-mag pouch and add bungee cords, since the button snap is shit. But for pistol mags get third party; again, button snap enclosures suck.
Midway is a good back-up when you can't find what you're looking for on Ebay or Amazon.

You can grab the IIFS and FLC for under $20 each. I actually have 1 IIFS and 2 FLCs (one woodland and one desert, with brown pouches to switch between) and each were under $10. It takes some searching on Amazon and Ebay to find them that cheap though.

>>

You can soften the kydex by taking a hair dryer to them and bending them outwards out of the pouch. It's just plastic. Kind of like forming a mouthguard.

Also might be a training issue or more likely that the lip of the pouch sags or comes inwards when nothing's in it so the actual open area once you've taken the mag out is smaller than the mag because of the elastic which makes reindexing mags a bitch.

Jansport might have some good offerings in that price range with a nice warranty, but I'm not sure how large they are.

You should take a look at Osprey packs as well, but they'll be more expensive.

We should get a backpack general going if it generates enough interest.

I already have a two mag panel from esstac so I'll probably try to fix those first.
Idiot of the month award goes to me for not realizing you can reheat and form kydex.
Should I take the inserts out before I reform them or keep them in the pouch?

you would be better served with more ammo for your primary. If you need a chest rig full of rifle mags then you don't NEED a pistol.
>>
>>33649582
B-but tacticool... Beside with if your primary jams or catches a round and is rendered unable to fire.
>>
>>33649630
>what if your primary jams

seek cover, tap, rack, bang

>what if rifle takes a round

then you are going to die anyway

if you want it just to be tacticool that is fine but if you think it will fucking matter if you ever have to use your gear for anything real it wont.
>>
>>33649678
>then you are going to die anyway
You won't have the range but if someone wants to flank your cover even if they have the range of the rifle a pistol is going to even the odds in the closer ranges they would likely find themselves in rounding my placement.
>>
>>33649698

The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. Why are so many things categorized as "you're dead anyway"?

Why don't you die when your rifle jams? What if you have a casing stuck in the chamber? You die anyways.

>>33649104
I don't think I would put one on a pc. I'm not sure why, but I guess I just feel like if I'm wearing a pc, I'm probably wearing my belt too. The only reason not to wear a belt is because you are having to ruck and you can always put the belt in your lid or strapped on top.
>>
>>33649816
I'll never understand why anyone besides sports shooters would have more than 3-4 double stack mag per pistol. Besides the whole "because I can" thing.
>>
>>33650234
Because of the idea that SHTF and from that point on every single bullet you can carry is more important then anything else. You might spent weeks or months in that carrier with nothing else and no reasonable way to modify or add to the rig.
>>
>>33649851
Well seeing as most of us don't have four guys behind us with guns I'd say having a second gun is pretty important. Not to mention, you can arm someone else as well.

You could always start out with a paddle holster and pretty much any belt.

How are you thinking you are going to setup your pc?
>>
>>33650443
Well current idea is holster on my right. 3 mag pouch in front. 2 extra with 2 pistol mag holsters on my left. Rip away medkit on back right.
>>
>>33650234
I have pouches on my belt rig for up to 7 pistol mags because my belt is for recreational use.
>>
>>33650465
I would stay away from mounting medical on your back. If you get hit, you are most likely going to end up on your back, making it obviously hard to get to. And if you happen to end up using it on someone, it's still hard to get to.

The rest of the setup isn't my cup of tea but it sounds fine.
>>
>>33650542
Well let us be 100% real here. If I am wounded and on my back. What are the chances anyone with any kind of medical training will be around? If they are around will they even recognize that my pouch is first aid?

Medical is after being plugged and most likely not the first thing you reach for in a real firefight. Having it first and foremost seems kind of wasteful. It is about putting holes in people not fixing them. If you get shot it is very likely you are dead as fuck on the spot. Those you can save you'd likely carry your own kit.
>>
>>33650576
Well if you are going with that mindset then you should know that your first aid is supposed to be used on you. It's meant for you, that's why it's on you. Go ahead and put it on your back, I'm just giving you the reasons not to. I'm sorry but I didn't really understand half of your post.

Tell me you are atleast going to have a tq up front.
>>
>>33650638
Right shoulder strap.

I want a all in one PC. Something that in the dead of night I can don and be ready to fire within 10-15 seconds. I want my armor. I want my AR slung. I want my pistol. I want a medkit that I might not be able to grasp instant but is on my person.

If I get shot I'd dead as fuck regardless. If a 5.56 skims my plates and connects there is not a whole hell of alot I can realistically do. A tourniquet is the most likely result but after that I'd be in too much pain and shock to do a proper first aid.

I want it on my rig but I also think it is far more likely I'd need my side arm then a first aid. Firer fights last for moments. The first person shot loses. Even if your armor catches it you're on your ass and out of breathe.
>>
>>33650675
So I don't really understand what this is for. Home intrusion? Civil unrest?

You're saying if you get shot you are dead regardless. So why wear armor? Why not spare yourself 15 pounds? A carrier and plates are going to lower your mobility.

It's beginning to sound like your ifak is a total waste. Why do you even plan on having one? What exactly is it for?

Want to get a pair of 5.11 Apex for range days and hopefully hunting/hiking/camping.
I wear 32/32 jeans and fill them out with muh quads and muh glutes (would describe the jeans as slim tapered w/ 2% elastic).
My question is, is it likely 32/32 Apex pants will give a fit suitable for mobility?
Anyone got a pair?
