Daryl Greenamyer experimented with nitromethane in his Bearcat.
Axis powers used ethanol and methanol due to petroleum shortages.
Come to think of it, a lot of the German -Stoffs were prettty nutty.
Same for a lot of other rocket propellants. X-15 used ammonia and liquid oxygen.
Do you count JATO rockets too? 'Cause in that case aluminum, polyurethane and lots of perchlorate oxidizer are the reactants.
I've heard a proposal for a magnesium-fueled turbojet engine for use on Venus and Mars, since magnesium's reactive enough to combust CO2, but obviously such an engine has never flown.
