North Vietnam used these too. They loaded a bunch of AN-2s with rocket pods and three 12.7mm machine-guns each, and drifted very slowly through Laos bombing US air control positions. On the way back a helicopter shot two of them down in a dogfight. This was the first and only time I know of where they were used in combat in Vietnam.

Ferry tanks are a thing, though you'd need special waivers for them. You can also pull the wings off and stuff it in a shipping container too. Whichever way you go, you'll need either a special airworthiness certificate to get it registered with the FAA, or otherwise fly it under European registration with a European pilot's license (which would probably mean hiring European-certified mechanics to maintain it).
