88m are called ied finders and suffered the highest casualty rate in the whole aor for a time during the war. Whatever you call them , brave better be in there with it

It all depends on the current situation in the current war. On my second and third deployments as an infantryman we drove all our own vehicles. The amount of outside-the-wire work that drivers get is completely based on the need for them.

Some of them might go on convoys in dangerous places, some of them might just drive fuel trucks around on post. Some of them might never deploy. It just depends.

Drivers of officers or higher enlisted can be from any MOS.
For example, if you are in a unit with only a few months left, your CO or 1st Sergeant might pick you to be his driver, if he likes you.
It's a chill position, no PT, no formations. Normally all you have to do is show up every day when told to your CO's or 1st Sergeants office when told to, and 90% of the time you will be told to fuck off, or told when to report back later to go wherever.
