Right now all I want is for someone to tell me whether a tack welded slant brake will hold. I've tried slipping my old A2 birdcage over the end of the muzzle and it didn't fit, so my thinking is that a CNC Warrior 1/2x28 slant will, with some modification, slide on and fit semi-snugly, at which point it can be welded to the barrel. The question is, will the weld be able to hold?

Nobody seems to pay attention to this question long enough to give it more than a second of consideration, much less an answer.

Yes.
I've tack welded two pieces of steel together that I was going to then fully weld, using the tack weld to just hold them in place. Uh oh, they're not quite lined up, better break that tack weld and start over. Well shit, that tiny little tack weld is strong as fuck and required a cutoff wheel on a grinder.

Fuck, my bad. It's not being welded to the barrel.

The way it was pitched to me was that the brake would be slipped over the muzzle, then the detent pin hole (which is currently empty) could have a pin slipped into it. The pin would then be used to "bridge" the FSB and brake with a weld to hold the two components together. Not my gun, obviously, but the area in red is where the weld would be.

In theory it sounds like it could work, but that's just one connection point taking the muzzle blast, which is why I'm worried the weld will break.

None of that black is factory though, the PG and HGs are Russian surplus and the stock is a secondhand Bulgarian stock. The factory stock on that gun was a Bulgarian triangle

My unissued stock came in from Legion. It's very light compared to everything else but I like the look. It was a pain in the ass to install, lots of sanding and fitting of the tang required in addition to drilling screw holes. I did replace the metal with some spares as the metal that came with it was globbed in piss yellow shellac. It has a [\] refurbishment mark on the side facing the camera.

I was really tempted by it but it was like $40 for just the selector and it isn't even that much of a cosmetic thing for the gun, just internal autism parts so I let it pass and lo and behold once it sold I regretted it

It's smooth, I honestly liked the Arsenal two stage trigger in my gun (I know I'm in the minority here) but I wanted a normal single stage so I swapped it out. It's definitely an improvement, but again I'm not in the camp that disliked the factory trigger so it wasn't like a hate it to love it thing

Thing I hate it the rear tang is shaved off to make space for a Ace/AR stock adapter. I wanted to put a club foot or try and buy a PKM stock type 2.

Since I can't unless I re-weld a tang I'm going the Ace skeleton or triangle stock route. Now idea is to re-do the original front stock or do a RPK front stock.

Pic related is a dream of mine. 5.45x39 and 7.62x39 are not reliably available where I live, though, because AKs in general are like hens' teeth around here (ban state...) and most gun owners in my area are bubbas who dislike the SKS because it's a "commie gun."
