I'll hazard a guess that the bullet pierced his cheek or hit something on his sling as anon already said, but then the tracer component separated from the bullet and fucked off on a different trajectory than you would expect a bullet to take after impact.

So, you're seeing just where the tracer went, not the whole bullet.

Tracer elements love to fly off when the bullets strike. Their trajectory when loose can be pretty erratic as well.

Maybe only the tracer cup fell out. Happens often, so bullet went thru but tracer cup separated.

The part with the snipers is obviously edited in. Weather and lighting are totally different.

The tracer effect could be totally faked, or it could be the tracer element of the bullet flying off like other people have suggested.

Oviously the angle of the camera is jot the angle the shot is being taken at.

To me it looks like it hits his AK twice, it ricochets off the sling mount or something, hits the barrel and then zips off to nowhere.
