Op here, hard choice between 109's and the corsairs. Probably late war 109's like the G series and K.

>>33625434
my guilty pleasure.
>>33625549
is it just me, or do all russian ww2 figters look the same?
>>33625434
I do like the Ju-87. But if I could have any WW2 aircraft position I would want to be a Dauntless pilot.
A rugged plane that can dive like a roller coaster, two .50s to play with, a 1,000lb bomb, and flying over the beautiful waters of the Pacific. What's not to love?
>>33625575
jap planes
>>33625575
if i could be a pilot of any plane, it woul be a mosquito
>>33625593
Come at me bro.
http://www.aviation-history.com/airmen/coralsea.htm
>His rear gunner kept the swift Zeros off his flanks, while Vejtasa calmly leveled his sights at the Japanese fighters coming head on for the steady Dauntless. Again and again--three times--he maneuvered the scout bomber so that its two forward-firing guns ripped into a Zero. Three times a surprised Japanese pilot found himself spinning into the Coral Sea.
>>33625667
nice
>>33625593
Swede Vejtasa shot down multiple Japon planes with a Dauntless before transfer to VF.
>>33625182

Are you really complaining about images on an image board?
OC. Went to Evergreen airspace museum today I'll photo dump my WWII pics in a second.
will post some OC from EAA 2016

Probably because the majority of Russian fighters were derived from the Yak-1 and Russian designers were relying a lot on TsAGI data when developing the "modern" types available in '41, leading to really similar designs. Hell, even planes like the Yak-9 and La-7 had nearly identical wing planforms.
At least it's not as bad as Soviet fighter development in the '50s.

>>33628223
>>33628250
last one
fun fact, this plane actually got shot up over pearl harbor
>>33628250
At this point I consider them "once in a lifetime opportunity"
Paying for the ride was completely worth it and the only place off limits was the tail and ball turret. Took an hour long ride around the city from the bombardier's station.
Eventually they will all become static displays so you need to get in the air while you still can.
>>33628328
should've chosen the pilot seat.
super jealous though, that looks like it was a blast.
>>33628374
Not WWII related but my ass was in the pilot seat of the Spruce Goose today.
>>33628481
awesome, where at?
>>33628508
The museum is outside of McMinnville Oregon.
Has a ton of cool stuff and the goose so when you have a chance to tour the biggest plane ever built you have to go.
