Are they a meme?

I think they are wonderful when you want to have something cheap and durable military related to wear outdoors but don't want to go full sperg with wearing camo. Obviously this means only the two tone ones.

Anyone have any experiences with the rarer and more expensive Sposn/SSO gorkas? Compared to cheap BARS which ebay is full of they are more comfortable and the stitching is done better as well quality control. The colors are also more close to earth and not as contrasting, pic related on the right.

Also jacket vs hoodie anorak type with kangaroo pouch, which is better?

I like the plain color one, it looks like a diver suit. This is all I can say based on my uninformed opinion.
>>
>>33618616
I have an older generation SSO Gorka R and I fucking love it. I use it all the time for hiking in the fall and winter. I think is superior to the BARS versions everyone seems to be running nowadays. Better colours, better stitching and overall build quality...

I personally prefer having the button down jacket version as its easier to unbutton if you start warming up too much.

SSO stuff is nicer because they're a private company that designs and sells high speed Russian gear, while BARS basically only exists for Mil/LEO contracts. Buying BARS is essentially buying USGI while SSO is like LBT.

i bought a bars gorka 4 suit for snowboarding in warmer weather. it works really good and looks great, but the buttons are really easy to snap off. if you reinforce them the suit will last forever.

the Sposn gorkas are the overall best, an ANA are pretty good as well. the fleece lined gorkas are the overall best in build quality and duribility

however bars gorkas are the easiest to come by and are normally in the normal earth colors, not all the crazy camos like the other brands

i prefer the jacket type op.

Everytime I see gorkas I think back to my paintball days when everyone would get the flyest colors and best knee pads for better sliding and working in tight spaces. Kind of just want to wear a pair of raza pants. look you can even get them in tiger stripe. I've seen these pants and have used them for years before any problems. We're talking about actively sliding over concrete and brush, catching on glass moving past windows, pockets for squeegies and other shit...

I guess what I'm asking is what keeps someone from preferring paintball gear over this military gear? I understand gorkas arent really gearqueer levels of obsession but they're still pretty popular and they look like comfy pullovers.

Pic related, I used these JT sliders from the late 90s to early 2000s. Constant use as a ref and player, smashing the fuck out of them.
Not my picture, but the only think that's missing is a bit of orange sewing to resecure the left knee. The pads aren't as thick as you'd think, but thats where actual kneepads come in; and I dont mean hardshell.
>>

>>33619847
And to follow that, I used these GI sports knee and shin guards which fucking rocked. There is nothing like jumping through an open window, falling into broken glass and going "oh im fine, fuckin' nice"

So I suppose what is a good website to order a gorka through? Not trying to use ebay or etsy or some former soviet IP that will get me murdered in my bed only to wake up to a horse head.

>>33619089
Only time uniformity is important is for parades.
>>
>>33619828
Kk what about just basic use, like just usint the gorka as a jacket for walking around, is the bars that much worse?

And during any kind of UO where the rapid identification of enemy combatants is vital to the survival of your men. Or in any similar situations really.

Its also a discipline and professional pride thing.

SSO SPOSN > BARS

There's a reason the SPOSN costs more than the BARS.

As for being a meme? Well... depends. Are you a Russian operatin operationally? Then it's not a meme. If your play operatin with yer paintball or airsoft gun then ya might be a memer.
>>
>>33620413

For walking around you'll be fine with the bars. If you're going operating then I'd pony up the duckets and get the SSO.
>>
I bought me some winter Gorka when I was in Russia, granted I went for a shittier one for 2800pyб (about $40) as opposed to the better ones for 4500pyб (about $65)
It was nice, really comfortable and durable, although I kept having buttons fall off, but that's probably because it was a cheaper one. It's really nice for early spring, late fall when everything is brown and temperatures are between 30 and 50 degrees.
Ended up selling it to a friend for 800pyб because I needed the extra cash and I didn't have much space for it in my bags when I came home. Kinda wish I kept it tho.

This kind of shit makes the difference between cheap BARS and more expensive and harder to find SPOSN.

BARS are made by some commies akin to a factory that produces pairs of two left foot boots because no one gives a shit and SPOSN is a real private company with it's reputation in stake where Tatyana really pays attention to triplestitch the seams.

119 dollarinos, both shops know each other and compete with prices so they are identical.
But you are looking at like 50 bucks shipping so the 175 dollar ebay price is pretty accurate.

I have a BARS Gorka 4 which I use as a pullover suit over my regular outdoor clothes when I hunt, sort of like camouflage. I ain't ever been made, so I think it's working just fine.
Just, it's really not wind- or anythingproof, so I wear softshell under it and fleece under that and maybe cotton or mesh under that and wool under that. I'm looking to buy a Fjellduk for if it gets really cold or there's rain in the air.
When people say the Gorka is warm, I laugh so hard that my ass starts laughing too. Be warned, it is not very warm at all, and definitely not if you're posted innawoods for hours on end and it's late autumn.
>>
I have a SPOSN Gorka S. I have never held a BARS gorka, so I can't really compare. I do know that the coloring on the SPOSN is lesss "two-tones" than the BARS. it looks almost 1 color.

Because it's easily available from Russia via Internet.
Real question is why is no one buying them in large amounts from Russia and reselling them from US or EU so the biggest downsize of very long shipping times gets solved.

Boils down do you want a camouflage one or one you could wear without looking like a tryhard.
I would buy a non camo one first so I could use it more often in more situations.

Are the camo ptaches just normal camouflage cloth or reinforced too? In that case the camo ones may be little more breathable.

Gorka P = R, C = S, stores mix cyrillic and western letters all the time.

And I totally agree with the paintball pants, they were protective but most of all comfy, in the winter I used to wear them around my house because they felt so nice and I think that's why I was attracted to gorkas.
I have a splav and a sposn. Both are awesome. The splav is made out of layers of ripstop while the sposn is canvas and j actually like the splav more, while the buttons on the sposn are awesome

I love the aesthetics and presumed comfiness of gorkas (I don't own any).

But aren't they cotton canvas? Cotton loses much of its insulation quality when it gets wet and takes very long to try, so I imagine gorkas get cold and damp pretty quickly.

Are there any gorkas made out of modern synthetic materials?
