If CalExit happens, will you fight the separatists?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

So California is one of the two states (the other being Texas) that seems to talk a lot about succession from the United States.

Anyways, how feasible would it be for separatists to hold out against the United States? Today I learned that a blockade of california would work against aggressors of the new California Republic

Are these guys brain damaged? California farms would be nothing but bone dry dirt plots if we didn't steal water from the Colorado River.

And why would the US military allow the ports to remain open if the state secedes? This guy is seriously fucking stupid.
>>
>>33612385
I'mma go over there and take that beautiful landscape the fuck over with my bitch.
>>
>>33612385
Man FUCK urban Californians. I will happily sign on to defend /k/ommando land in the event of secession.
>>
We should let them secede. See if Jefferson secedes from California.
>>
>fight the separatists
>implying anyone advocating California secession would actually pick up a gun and fight for those ideas
>>
I'd happily let them go their own ways. I would have more problems with fighting the socialist republic of cascadia. Not that i disagree with the movement, just the numales in Portland and Seattle that scream of plebbit.
>>
I don't see why anyone on this board would oppose a succession. It will mean 40 million fewer commies voting for gun control and other garbage at the national level
>>
>>33612385
I wouldn't feel bad about fighting on the side of the Union this time. However, to stop the problem happening all over again, we shouldn't allow Californians who stayed in the state over the course of the war to vote, nor allow them to raise families. Stop them spreading the idea that violent breakup of the country is somehow noble or justifiable.
>>
>>33612568
I could see them trying to sign some sort of petition to join mexico. I feel like that'd be the easiest, laziest way of accomplishing what they want.
>>
>>33612604
>violent breakup of the country
If any state succession becomes violent, it will almost certainly be the fault of the feds who can't stand losing any power
>>
Lol California gets very red once you get out of the cities, Jefferson state and most of the valley would die before they took orders from SF.
>>
Don't forget the substantial numbers of non-farming Californians who are against secession. (Myself included)

Between the huge military and national guard presences already here, the ability to control the state's water supply by taking a few key rivers, and the general gunshyness of the malcontents, I give Calexit: a 1 out of 5.
>>
>CA secedes
>"Haha, take that racist alt-right redneck pigs!"
>NorCal promptly secedes from SoCal, taking all its agriculture/food with it
>Silicon Valley breaks off too since there's more money to be made in the Union
>SoCal is left starving and in serious debt
>"F-Fucking rednecks!!"

Yeah I don't think it will take much for that particular revolution to go down in flames chief.
>>
>>33612385
Why would we want them to stay? If they want to be hopelessly fucked, so be it. America is better off without Commiefornia.

It also means the 8th largest economy in the world would no longer be a part of the United States. Not to mention the largest and most diverse agriculture production in the country and most of the ports on the western seaboard.

The US would take a huge hit by losing California.
>>
>>33612385
Califags please secede. You commie fags can have your own shitty country with socialized health care and gay marrige and no guns and america has a place that they can deport commie fags to.
win win
>>
>>33612598
Secession is treason, and I don't want their big economy leaving the Union. Screw losing western ports, and allowing a new major and economic military power to coalesce on our border too. They'll turn to the Chinese for protection if we let them secede, and then we'll end up with PLA tank """peackeeping""" divisions on our border.
>>
>>33612634
Normally I would agree with you, but I feel like that's not entirely true anymore. Remember these are the same people who believe that assaulting someone for their political association is "defending themselves". These are people who believe that rioting and looting a college campus because they didn't agree with a conservative speaker is somehow a victory for free speech. These are people who shut down one of Americas biggest cities and destroyed its poorest sections (with the mayors implicit approval) because of the death in custody of a known felon. This new breed of militant liberalism isn't like anything we've encountered in recent memory, and it's characterized less by shrewd manipulations and more by outright opposition and sporadic violence. At the rate we're going, they may very well decide that armed violence is simply pre-emptive self defense, and therefore, justified. So far, the biggest saving grace seems to be a lack of cohesion and organization of priorities, leading to a huge population of malcontents, all worried about different things and none being able to unify the group. This makes them easy to manipulate against one another, but once someone comes forward with a message that every snowflake can get behind, we may start to see a dangerous level of organization amongst a much more prone-to-violence group. I don't think I need to tell you why that's a problem.
>>
>>33612696
An economy that relies of the rest of the US to function, fuck wit. Agriculture? The state steals almost it's entire aquifer from other states, so there goes the farms. Ports? You really think those ports will mean shit when it's no longer a US State? Shippers will begin shipping to Portland or Seattle, since CA won't be US land anymore.

Please, give us more reasons. I need a good laugh
>>
A civil war pitting CA vs Fed would massively destabilize world markets, possibly to an unrecoverable level.
>>
>>33612385
texas has a good chance of surviving as a nation in comparison to california.
>>
as far as secession goes, it seems like the assumption is these former states would just be left alone to be come independent nations. if it ever got that far, i think the US would just invade and make them territories
>>
>>33612791
This. All the benefits of having that economy at your control, without having to let them vote.
>>

This. Macro 101. If shit ever got that far we would already be a point of no return. Global casualties would be the hundreds of millions.
>>

Only the federal government would. It doesn't hurt me, or almost anyone else not in government, while the lack of communist voters would be a huge benefit

Why the fuck would the US trade with CA when we can do everything it currently does, without tarrifs, taxes, and dealing with thier bullshit? The agriculture is easily enough replaced by other states. Oregon and Washington get new influx of cash from assuming the role of shipping ports. The US gets premium bucks when CA begs to buy our electricity and water.

CA is not equipped to survive on its own. You can't pay for trade goods with IOUs

B. What little water central California DOES have, comes from norcal.

No, I won't help fight.

The US will be a better place with the Californians gone. They can take Oregon and Washington while they're at it.

>To be able forcefully and threateningly to oppose this party, whose betrayal of the workers will begin with the very first hour of victory, the workers must be armed and organized. The whole proletariat must be armed at once with muskets, rifles, cannon and ammunition, and the revival of the old-style citizens’ militia, directed against the workers, must be opposed. Where the formation of this militia cannot be prevented, the workers must try to organize themselves independently as a proletarian guard, with elected leaders and with their own elected general staff; they must try to place themselves not under the orders of the state authority but of the revolutionary local councils set up by the workers. Where the workers are employed by the state, they must arm and organize themselves into special corps with elected leaders, or as a part of the proletarian guard. Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary. The destruction of the bourgeois democrats’ influence over the workers, and the enforcement of conditions which will compromise the rule of bourgeois democracy, which is for the moment inevitable, and make it as difficult as possible – these are the main points which the proletariat and therefore the League must keep in mind during and after the approaching uprising.

>So that's why, while the rest of CA is out of a drought, the central part of the state is still?
Because the drought caused increased groundwater extraction, lowering the water table, causing wells to go dry. Some areas, that were reliant on groundwater alone, are still feeling the impact of the drought.

>That's also why the entire stretch of the i5 corridor, which was once farm, is now dust bowl delapidated farms?
Those farms were always marginal. That was some of the last land developed into farms, so they have the most junior water rights, and the region was overdeveloped for the water supply it has. When droughts come, those farms go out of business.

>Such right crops, that Fresno, Stockton, and most of the rest of central CA has the highest unemployment rate and some of the highest crime rates in the state?

>Since Californians send more money to the Feds than they get back,

Because of the ports and farms. Which are now pretty much useless as in a secession scenario they no longer serve as a point of entry to the other 47 contiguous states (in the case of the ports) or export the large majority of the goods to market (on the case of the farms).

The funny thing about the whole "california gives more than they take" thing is that this is only true due to two factors that are overwhelmingly worked by christian conservatives. the very same people that the establishment and masses of the state loathe.

A starbucks barista with a sociology degree and sleeve tattoos stumbles across a statistic about revenue generation and California and she genuinely thinks it's powered by people like her. uhhh....no. It's not even the most productive and valuable agricultural land in the US, that goes to the prairie states and their $90 billion a year grain industry that's exported to over 80 countries and is the sole reason Eastern Europe can afford to have livestock.

Acre for acre the states of IL, IA, MO, NE, and KS produce more produce by weight and value. The difference is most of it is either turned into ethanol or livestock feed instead of being eaten by humans.

And if you wish to count the illegal markets, Afghanistan is right up there with its poppy fields and Colombia is right up there with its cacao plantations, which is a trillion-dollar globe-spanning empire.

What a load of horseshit. Grain's grown in the Midwest because it's a lower value crop, suitable for lower value land. The fact that there's a whole lot of it doesn't change the value per unit.

You're retarded. It's physically impossible for everyone who wouldn't support the succession to leave- it just won't happen. People locked up in jail, or rural communities who stayed to defend their farms, or loyalists who stayed to fight a guerrilla war would all be punished under your idea.
Not to mention that state constitutions decide the qualifications for voting in said state, and the main US gov't is not allowed to change a state constitution.
Furthermore, the Californian economy would be crippled from lack of population for a generation, which would heavily damage the US economy as whole as well.

>This new breed of militant liberalism isn't like anything we've encountered in recent memory,

I'm old enough to remember the 70s. We had over 1900 domestic bombings in the US in 1972. What we're experiencing right now is standard Left behavior- if they don't get their way, they pitch a tantrum. Hillary lost, which was apparently not fair.

Read this. It's lengthy, but well worth it.

the one difference today though is that social media will make a huge deal out of every fucking bombing that happens and people will actually be aware of it. The press tried their best to cover up the bombings in the 60's and 70's and there was nothing people could do about it. I think if twitter existed back then it would have turned out a bit differently.

I'd actually like more Republican victories. Not because I like their platform, of course; they're nuts, and the worst sort of traitors, since they want by and large to betray the constitution for religion and money as opposed to the lesser leftist betrayal on account of principle, however misguided. No, I want Republicans to keep winning because every further term they stay in power Democrats will become more amicable to compromise on the 2a issue, since it's the only wedge issue they can afford to budge on. Abortion? Nope. Healthcare? Nada. Entitlements? Uh-uh.

My hope is that, given increasing desperation after two or three terms of Republican rule, they'd give way on the issue of guns and get their own bitter taste of that "reasonable compromise" stuff they love to talk about.

Yes, I envision armed checkpoints at dinosaur point and at the top of the grapevines by the end of the first day, and a "fuck you sactown" checkpoint at flag city.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, california has the following problems if they want to secede:

>No professional soldiers.
>no internationally recognized currency
>No way to pay the mountain of debt already due their government workers.
>they would start with roughly a third of the military might of what is largly considered to be the most powerful military on the planet already within their borders.
>A very pro-U.S. insurgency from day one.
>Not enough power generation inside the state and a strong likelihood that they would lose access to the western grid.

Among other issues.

Almost all places get red when you leave the cities. One's politics are almost a direct result of the environment they grow up in. Cities always get whatever they want from the state gov because they are basically a guarantee for the politician's next term. Towns get leftovers and have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps or else receive welfare which is shameful in their eyes. People growing up in the city see gun violence. People growing up in towns see guns used in hunting and for fun.

>WHAT CALIFORNIANS THINK OF CALEXIT: POLL SAYS MAJORITY OF VOTERS DON'T LIKE TRUMP BUT DON'T WANT TO LEAVE U.S.

>The poll from the University of California, Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies found neither registered Democrats nor Republicans living in California would strongly support a statewide secession from the U.S. Just 44 percent of Democrats and 15 percent of Republicans said they would vote in favor of a succession. Overall, 68 percent of voters said they would not support a ballot measure calling for California’s independence from the U.S., while only 32 percent said they would.

Neither of those is a significant factor in the CA economy. Oil, on the other hand, is.

Or did you not know that CA is an oil producing state?

Because while they're retarded, they're not as retarded as you are. CA is a special brand of retarded that not even the most left wing states wish to emulate it.

If I was a liberal right now, I'd be telling everyone to hold over, wait for Trump to go to war with Syria (something that no Trump voter wanted) and play the Bush angle for 2020.

I mean, that's why I voted Obama in 2008.

While neither are directly involved in the economy like oil and food producers are, they (mainly silicon valley, idk how movies are even taxed. Presumably spending billions of dollars making movies and then making billions off ticket sales et al creates some tax revenue, right?) are large sources of tax revenue for the state. So infrastructure and schools and shit are reliant on them.
