Getting dat 100% is a bitch.
>>
>Why aren't you getting your warlord boner on?
Because that game is fucking ancient and there's like a single decent mod for it.
Same reason nobody talks about Stalker anymore, there's only so much to be said about decade old games.

Been alternating between This War of Mine: The Little Ones and Metro(both).

Quite fun desu senpai

When I got my gaming laptop back in 2010 the first two games I got on it were Far Cry 2 and STALKER. I still play them occasionally. Great fucking games especially with mods.

I need a gaming desktop though. Too bad I spend all my money on guns.

People with no imaginations are sickening. Make your own story outside the mission role playing as different people, you're the reason there's more focus on long shitty story lines and side missions about collecting rubber bands under a timer instead of more gear, functions, and better AI.
>>
>>33609281
>People with no imaginations are sickening.
It's not MY JOB to make a game fun.
The devs that made farcry 2 and many others are lacking any imagination.
They just want to "fill hours" for console poorfags with delusions of 1000 boring hours being somehow superior to 20 hours of amazing and replayable game. Or indy games that can offer hundreds or thousands of hours of intense fun for cheap like Faster than Light or Binding of Isaac.
Give me a game like DOOM any day, where the actual content is fun, and I don't have to force myself through it using mind-tricks to pretend I didn't waste my money.

Can you blow away giant scorpions with a trench gun loaded with dragon's breath in Far Cry 2?
No you fucking can't.
I guess New Vegas wins again.

Men have this idea that we can fight with dignity, that there's a proper way to kill someone. It's absurd. It's anesthetic; we need it to endure the bloody horror of murder. You must destroy that idea."
>Show them what a messy, terrible thing it is to kill a man, and then show them that you relish in it. Shoot to wound, then execute the wounded. Burn them. Take them in close combat. Destroy their preconceptions of what a man is and you become their personal monster."
>When they fear you, you become stronger. You become better. But let's never forget: it's a display; it's a posture, like a lion's roar or a gorilla thumping at its chest. If you lose yourself in the display, if you succumb to the horror, then you become the monster. You become reduced; not more than a man, but less - and it can be fatal."

While it doesn't use real weapon names due to licensing issues, I do think PD:TH has some of my favorite shooting mechanics in any FPS ever.

All the guns feel very different and all of them are extremely fun to use.

>popping 3 heavy swats with a single shotgun shell and listening to all that glass shattering from their visors
>mag-dumping a fully upgraded NOT-MP5 and not getting any recoil at all
>the bronco noise
>reloading the AK in the most tacticool manner

You guys should try it out.

Does anyone still play it or has everyone already moved to PD2?
>>
>>33609649
The playerbase is very small nowadays but you can find a player or two with some effort.

Also it's dirt cheap right now so you can gift it to some friends and have them play with you.

Or, if you're like me and just want to have some fun from time to time, you can download a mod that makes the bots not suck so much and tackle pretty much any mission by yourself.

Dead game, ruined sequel. Though its gradually regained its pre-crimefest 2015 numbers, the old community is gone and replaced with CSGO skinshitters that dont learn how to play. This hasn't affected pdth, since pdth has no community. Lucky to get 50 people playing outside of NA.

Might I interest you in something a bit unconventional? Children of a Dead Earth, you can make your own conventional guns, railguns, coilguns, lasers, nuclear and flak warheads all based off of real equations. Then you can mount them to your own ships built out of completely custom components which also use real engineering to build.

I absolutely loved Farcry 2. So much in fact that I did two straight playthroughs as soon as it came out. Weapons-wise it's not very realistic, but the mechanics and the AI are good enough to render an atmosphere that is believable and yes, /k/ as fuck (we've already ruled that Africa is the most /k/ place on Earth). It has every weapon you want in a FPS : from the flare gun to the mortar. The weapons are fun to use and can do pretty big damage thanks to the incendiary mechanic. If a game where, as side quests, you can plant IED on a road in the savanna and ambush a truck convoy of gun traffickers, and finish the driver with a Mozambique Drill doesn't tease you, I don't know what will.

>enemies panic and funnel into my kill zone, start blasting them
>a few try to flank me, rush to rusted train car for cover, run along track to unoccupied vehicle
>jump in, flank east, jump up to the m36 mount and open fire with the vehicle lmg
>buddy calls, tells me to meet him at the airport when i get the defoliant canister
>hang up as a sniper's round flies past me, dash for cover in the warehouse
>enemies at nearby checkpoint heard the firefight and rushing down hill to investigate
>administrative reload, quickly check map and gps
>grab canister in warehouse and sneak out back to get the drop on the new threats

I will NEVER uninstall this game. It's a shame we'll never get another Far Cry 2, it's too politically incorrect for modern Ubisoft. This Steam counter isn't even accurate because I did a complete wipe and fresh reinstall of my OS and everything else in August of 2016.

The game is good, but it could have been so much better. The constantly respawning outpost AI and malaria infection were very annoying.

Far Cry 3 could have improved upon FC2's mistakes but instead they went for a generic island setting and generic ubisoft gameplay.

I think the respawning checkpoints were devs being lazy or saving time. The checkpoints should stay unmanned for a few day/night cycles until APR or UFLL reinforcements could retake them. At the very least, checkpoints serve as an incentive to go off road and explore as well as putting the map and GPS to more use which was fun and operator as fuck.

I liked the malaria system, it was a wild card during frantic firefights and helped give the character depth. You start as a nobody with symptoms that keep you from sprinting more than a few feet at a time. As the game progresses, you're feared and your symptoms are in check. By the end, enemies are terrified of you but physically you're falling apart, you're practically the green horseman incarnate.

The biggest mistake they made was not fleshing out the story and character backgrounds more. Even something as simple as trading rough diamonds for war stories at Mike's bar would have been entertaining. Imagine how much more interesting this would have been:

>finish buddy mission
>get paid
>by few rounds of beers as you both sit down and relax
>buddy talks more about his/her background
>you take over as that buddy in a flashback
>experience some traumatic event that served as a formal experience in their lives

They kind of tried that with Longines in FC4 where you would do a mission for him to retrieve rough diamonds. As you complete these missions, he opens up and tells you he was a warlord in an African civil war and sent men to kill and die for these diamonds. He was shot in the head at Goka falls but survived, was nursed, and converted to Christianity. He is now in Kyrat retrieving those diamonds that represent his sins.
>>
>>33610500
My biggest issue was the guys you fight in the first mission are the same guys you fight at the end of the game. About half way through the plot, the rag-tag mercenaries you've been fighting get replaced by a pair of high-end western PMCs, but this isn't reflected in improved gear (no body armor or plate carriers, just the same cargo shorts as ever) or vehicles (I dont think Ive ever seen AI using the DLC Unimogs, in spite of it being an appropriate late-game upgrade to the land rover). I realize that was partly the message of the game that they're all just fellow people when stripped of a faction flag, but I feel like they hammered it a bit too hard on the homogeneity. It would have been cool to see the final weapon convoy being escorted by AML90s or Ratels, but its always the same. As an side, it always irked me that the foreign special forces team whose supplies you blow up aren't wearing camo uniforms and use the same guns as anyone else. Wouldn't have been hard to give them all MP5SDs simply to differentiate them from any other enemy.
>>
Anyone play multiplayer of this?

I used to play on a server that was sniper only. It had the map divided in half with each side having identical buildings and what not. It was fun as fuck until I got banned
>>
Farcry 2 was interesting. I can't recall having started out a game before with a bloody flamethrower. And the sound, visuals and combat realism was good - for its time. However I tired fairly quickly of the constant respawning of enemies. If I clear out a whole compound it's a downer to pass by five minutes later and they are all back.
>>
>>33608851

In the west Stalker is dead, yeah. Still very popular in Russia/eastern Europe. I'm on a dev team that is translating the biggest Russian mod which has quests that are longer than the vanilla storyline.

I personally think Payday 2 is a lot better in terms of weapons
>over 80 guns compared to the first games 13
>much better models/textures/animations/etc
>actual weapon modding rather than straight upgrades
>better modding scene, modders have found out how to add custom weapons and attachments.
Haven't played the first one so I can't compare the gameplay, but I think Payday 2 is still a lot of fun with some friends and the dlc unlocker.

I loved Far Cry 2, but my biggest gripe ws that the game was supposed to take place during a fucking civil war and there are exactly two scripted battles that take place between the main factions. Outside of the firefight in Pala at the very beginning of the game and the insurrection in Port Selao, there are literally no enemies fighting ever. The only time you come across enemies already shooting at someone is when you're on your way to deliver passports to an underground safehouse, or when you finish a buddy mission and the enemies have him or her pinned down. Even when the APR and UFLL are in close proximity, everyone targets you as if you're the only threat they see. I thought the enemy AI were actually decent drivers most of the time, so why couldn't you take a buddy or two with you in a vehicle to drive around? Also, why weren't there any refugees in game? The only time they appear is at the beginning and end of the game during cutscenes. Even during the heart of darkness segment at the end of the game when you're supposed to escort civilians and clear a path for them, they are nowhere to be seen. I get that Ubisoft wouldn't want players or NPCs to slaughter women and children, but it would have been nice to see refugee camps in the grasslands and crowds of people walking on the sides of roads. You do plenty of horrible shit anyway without civilian NPCs; destroying a water pipeline, ruining medical clinics, bombing a town, and the Jackal and other characters talk about all kinds of shit (maiming children, raping women, massacring innocents) so why leave out refugees who would add more atmosphere to the game?

It was fun for what it was though.

It's a low-intensity conflict - the two factions are in a stalemate and have negotiated a ceasefire. Anyone trying to cross the checkpoints would be fired upon.

Although the storyline claimed that the civilians had already evacuated (or were held up in camps outside of the mission area), they were originally in the game but some moralfag executive didn't want players to shoot them. Also, they could never get civilian AI to work quite right.

>gun dmg doesn't have any basis in reality.
damage in the first game wasn't exactly realistic either
>M14 does nearly twice as much damage as the HK21, despite both being in 7.62x51
>AK also does more damage than the HK21 despite being chambered in 7.62x39 (if you believe the description for it) or 5.56(if you're basing it off the model, which is obviously using a 5.56 mag)
>1911 does more damage than the MAC-10
>The Taurus chambered in .44 does more damage than any other gun
I do agree that its even worse in the second game, but if the first game had as many guns as 2, I think it would be just as unrealistic. If Payday 2 should be bashed for anything it should just be the shitty way Overkill has managed the game since it's release.
