Anyone here have PLCE or a similar setup? I know in 'Merica we've gone for that sexy direct action raid look, but there's a lot to be said for getting that weight back to the hips and below the lumbar spine.

Peltor is coming out with some real cheap ear pro
either the peltor sport rangeguard or the tacitcal 100
just add the gel ear cups and you're golden.

I hate wearing Foam ear plugs and I need to be able to hear people for training classes and my hearing is not that good so I want some decent electronic ear pro.

I always double up.

foam ear plugs and have the electronic muffs at full volume to hear people.

Again I've heard good things about the Peltor budget line, and the huge advantage the peltors have over the Howard lieghts, is that they're compatible with the gel earcups (so I've been told)

DO NOT BUY PLCE POUCHES WITH THIS SHITTY CLIPS

They are fucking horrendous and will get you fucking killed

Seriously, take it from someone who's had to use it on ops, I also speak for countless other bods who've had the unfortunate luck to be issued this crap which by the way is older than most squaddies out there

Fumbling about with these pouch clips with gloves on, or trying to fasten it when you've just changed your magazine is a major fucking chore, get pouches with plastic clips or proper velcro straps, they will save you precious time when you need it
>>
>>33598884
that's the way it was with all webbing from back in the day.

PLCE gave you the luxury of the Spanish fly and velcro closure

if you want to know the struggle try some alice m16 magazine pouches.

Looks like your knees are locked out and your weight is on your heels. This produces a back-and-forth rocking motion under recoil. Try setting your feet wider apart from front to back and bending your knees slightly, which makes them act a bit more like shock absorbers. Not that 5.56 recoil is a huge problem for someone your weight, but doing this should help you shoot cloverleafs at 5 yards even at a .25s split shooting cadence.

>>33602994
When doing drills like that its good to assume kind of a mix between a boxing stance and beginning of a squat. Bending at the hips takes stress off the spine and transfers it to the glutes. Bone support is ideal for just about any shooting position except where you're relying on the spine and possible shearing forces acting on it.I have a longer torso also, which is why I've been looking into a belt based kit.

Boots count as gear right?

Well I got some of those Austrian boots from ivan and while they are honestly comfy as hell, they NEED new insoles.
>Current insoles look like leather that was soaked in salt water then left out in the desert sun for 20 years

Are these things a meme or do they actually work?
If so, what one would yall recommend from experience since there are like 5-10 models of these fucking things.

I'm trying to make my boots comfy enough to hike all day in with my gear.
Figured the fatty fat fat one for "people over 200" would be best since a heavy ass pack and rifle puts me well over 200

And if these are shit, I'd love some recommendations.

Want to be able to switch between a complete rig and a more basic one without having to sit there fiddling around for 10 fucking mins.
>>
>>33604919
whats going on the basic one and on the complete rig?
If you're using m4 mags i would consider putting a mag insert into the kangaroo pouch for the basic setup and then having a swiftclip placard with whatever you need on it for the more complete rig.

When I said complete rig I meant a completed chestrig that uses the swiftclips like the D3.
And the blank slate for my shotgun loadout most likely, will probably get 2 or so just so have them all set up and easily switchable, just seems convenient as hell.

But back to my main question, you know of the best bang for your buck one to buy?

>>33605159
its made of like rain jacket material. it doesn't have the ridged top that most dump pouches do. so it could spill and it will abraid or get torn if you mistreat it.

i personally think it's too expensive for what it is. it's neat that it's so small tho.
>>
>>33605205
It looks like it would be nice to just have on your belt in case you need more room since it folds up so small.
>Not for $45 though

>>
>>33605159
I like mine a whole lot. Blue Force stuff is good to go, but time will tell how long the elastic will last before it gets stretched out from use. Most of their original elastic stuff is still in circulation, though, so it's not like you'll need a replacement anytime soon.

>>
>>33613459
Was on a joint operation with some Navy guys who carried flags in just this way. They were quite large definitely, probably 4'x6' or therabouts. To be honest it (along with talking to these guys) was that I was not impressed. Their loadout was really geared towards "rule of cool" and they had many impractical or dubiously practical things going on with their gear. Their reason for carrying the flags was to cover dead friendly bodies, which is a sort of institutional silliness I'm sure was just part of their unit culture.
>>
>>33613728
I thought the thing with the flags was that they were brought back as gifts as a "this flag was in iraq yada yada yada"
>>
>>33613804
I heard from two seperate guys that's what the deal with the flags was. There are some pictures somewhere of a unit actually covering their dead with flags in the field, so I'm sure it's just one of those things certain units do.

>Tbh I'd carry a flag just for cool factor. In terms of actual kit not a fan of form > function. Always function > form but whatever.

This was on actual deployment mind, so while minor little cool factor things were neat, taking it too extremes was fairly cringe. Not to mention the guys doing it had the kind of prima donna attitude thinking that everybody was there to support them instead of the other way around, and certain comments like having a "couple of missions a week" was considered by them to be high op tempo that they bragged about. It rubbed people the wrong way.

Ok so yeah just wannabe Seals.
You gotta be type A to get higher than enlisted Grunt in a combat role, though for the most part. So kind of understandable but strutting at all is kinda gay. If you're top shit then you're supposed to be more of a guy of integrity than anything and don't need to dick measure with everyone. If you're not some buff seal or green beret then you probably shouldn't be dick measuring since you're not even close to top shit anyways.
>>
>>33616199
Overall it was a weird experience since they seemed to think we were massively impressed by them when everybody was more dumbfounded. They weren't say, aggressively dick measuring, they just sort of walked in and assumed everybody was impressed and they were the coolest guys in the room. Very weird, very off putting.

I've got many weird gear queer type stories from military guys making a big deal out of gear for kinda no reason.
>>
>>33616263
>I've got many weird gear queer type stories from military guys making a big deal out of gear for kinda no reason.

What do you mean? Like one guy has multicam crye's and thinks he's TF 141 from cawadooty or what?
>>
>>33616287
Basically yeah.

One thing that sticks out at me is just getting back from deployment and having a guy transfer into our unit. The guy was a neverdeployed NCO that had spent all his time in a highly funded unit. He came with all the goodies; Crye clothes, LBT PC, PCU stuff, etc. He showed it off as much as possible while also bragging about "working" with such-and-such unit. By "working" he meant doing stateside training, but his story telling often mudded the line to imply he had done combat without outright stating it.

So, cue this dude showing up to join our unit fresh out of a deployment. I remember him for some reason calling my personally bought chest rig "Gucci shit" in a weird attempt to I assert his dominance or something. He then asked if I had really bought my own (triangular) NOD shroud. A SNCO that had deployed interrupted to tell him that everybody that deployed had been issued one, and said that if he'd seen combat with us he'd know that.

*

A different, shorter incident was on a deployment when a line guy asked if we felt safe wearing our (unit issued) minimalist plate carriers in stead of the GI KDH carriers. We were confused. He pointed out the KDH covered more of the body. We tried to explain, but gave up that plate carrier fabric doesn't stop bullets...

I kinda wanna see an Esstac Kywi shingle to replace the BFG Ten-Speed.

Would probably run the bleeder pouch on the left cummerbund, not directly behind the radio but behind it.

Would just either stick a GP pouch on the right cummerbund, either where the bleeder pouch was or close to the back panel, to keep it out of the way.

A lot of people give you shit for the same pics, but its still one of the posts I like seeing sometimes. I was just rambling on about what I'd do in a dream world where I could actually afford any of this stuff, so pay no attention to that.

Alright well since you're here time for some hand holding. I want a chest rig that is comfortable and well made and can handle real plates. Call it SHTF or home defense. I want it just in case and just in case means getting shot at. Primary weapon would be an AR-15 with a Px4 side arm.

I was eyeballing the Warrior DCS rig since it is hovering around $220 and looks pretty well made. After that I have not a damned clue about inserts. Thinking front and back since sides would get kind of heavy. I'd like to keep the total cost under $500 if possible. I bought this Condor because it was only $20 but now I am certain I want something I can wear all day that won't dig or itch.

Front plate only anything was an idea toyed with at the opening stages of the Iraq war. In my experience it's unbalanced and not very comfy. Go straight PC which will be easy to don but unconcealable, or slick PC + chest rig.

>Call it SHTF or home defense
I'd strongly suggest soft armor as well, the extra coverage is nice and home invaders typically won't have rifles.

For chest rigs Mayflower makes good stuff, TAG has a few chest rigs for less than $50. Beez is good but they treat customers like shit. Or you can always go Molle and load it up with pouches.

For armor there's plenty of plate carriers and soft armor carriers, but many concealable option that hold both. Perroz makes both and you can probably contact him for a custom carrier. CAD is weak atm, now is the time to buy Canadian.

I have one with the whole whooplah
personally i hate it, i was so disappointed, especially considering how good brit gear tends to be
It's just so poorly made, both vest and pouches, a weird plasticky shiny fabric and shit tier press studs, it feels worse than many airsoft tier shitgear
design wise it's okay, i like the fact that it can be set from ciras like to full blown makeshift eod suit tier. Over reliance in velcro highly annoying in my book, but that's just personal preference.
Only thing in the entire set i was genuinely impressed by was the IFAK pouch, that one is awesome, it opens whole and detaches for ease of use, neat stuff.
IMO, unless you're going specifically for the whole brit loadout, i'd avoid

More so for securing bandages so I can >dynamically move without fear of them falling off. Also the gauze bandages don't secure on themselves.
>>

shit, do i look like one?

>>
>>33620691
If you want to carry actual armor, osprey is really your only choice for the price range DESU. i would save up a little.
>>
>>33621224
It also seems like the soft armor pieces are a bitch to find but also looks like they might restrict mobility. Opinion on them?
>>
>>33621343
That's the problem, i could even recommend osprey as a cheap PC merely for the price, if it wasnt for the fact that it's completely non standard for the amor. finding the soft armor sets you back some 250 $ if you can even find it, at that rate you'd be better off finding something else, i recommend russian stuff. i have a 6b43 and am very happy with it
>>

>>
>>33620467
Ok, just giving an opinion from personal use and experience with the holster in actual, real use in actual combat. I won't bad mouth a piece of gear that has worked very well for me just because internet operators have a hate boner for it.
>>
>>33621484
Where'd you find that Russian PC? Looks pretty alright from a quick google but all the ones for sale are """replicas"""
>>
>>33621902
i got it from a friend, but anyways they can be found with soft body armor if you look hard enough. I tried to find them for you but nothing shows up atm. Anyways keep an eye on them as they do show up from time to time around the 300$ range. I think the regular version is compatible with standard sapi soft armor plates, but the army issue ones are better because they have neck and side protections.
>>
>>33622063
Thanks a lot friend, I'll be keeping my eyes open.

I want to do NATO, but none of the /k/ fags want to do NATO with me. I've only done militia so far, but I should be doing Russian next time I go to an event.

BTW were you the same anon who wanted an osprey? still dont recommend it over other stuff but if it really is your thing... i found this for you

I'd love to attend a proper milsim event, very few of those around here...
Loadout pic!
>>
>>33622160
I've heard that NATO factions in milsims are the Desert Fox tier tryhards.

Most people who are going to have fun and camp with fellow autists join greenfor or opfor because it's usually more laid back.
>>
>>33622248
From my single experience I say that Russia/Militia was way too unorganized and some units were just not useful because we had a shitty commander. There are a lot of Russians who have no chill as well. NATO's problem is how they just kind of stand around in open areas doing nothing while waiting for an attack so they telegraph everything for you.

That being said, a bunch of people who usually played Russians went to the US team and kicked ass at the last event. Probably the only reason they won.

Oh yeah and DesertFox killed me and put it in a montage, which I just found out about it, so I'm ANGERY.

>>33622226
I've not got any full loadout. At grozny I just wore a goretex woodland jacket with mountain flora pants and a 6sh112 LBV.

darntough, wigwam, and smartwool.

Fox river is pretty good, just make sure your boots will be able to accommodate the thiccness.
Not a big problem, but they will also get real sweaty if you're running around in those things.

Also, anyone have any recs for a good "battle" belt?

Keep booboo and trauma separate as they are two worlds. All the boo boo stuff you take out of there I would replace it with more gauze or a trauma dressing. Emphasis on the trauma dressing because you are average Layman or whoever is using your own kit on you will probably not know how to wound pack or fashion a pressure dressing themselves. Booboo can go in a pack or general purpose pouch.

I may be an internet operator, but I too, have owned a serpa. The problem with the serpa is, compared to other locked holsters, is that it's anatomically dependent. long fingers requires you to curl your finger or to depress the button awkwardly. Obviously, fingers that are too short need not apply.

Back strap locks(or whatever you call it) are much simpler. With the serpa, you can inadequately depress the button and make the firearm stick.

>tldr serpa is a P.O.S.

in warm weather stick to a softshell.

Pros and cons of the eagle pc? What soft armor, if any, do you have in it?

I really want to want it.
>>
>>33626441
Pros:
-1000 denier Cordura nylon, not floppy 500d.
-Has integrated 6 x 6 side armor plate pockets in the cummerbund
-Cummerbund has a sleeve for soft side armor
- Flared design offers more real estate on the edges of the front/rear panels
-Can run it without cummerbund
-has an integrated admin/mag pouch

Cons:
- Expensive as holy hell due to demand by Airsofters
- Didn't come with shoulder pads, which were also crazy expensive for reasons (see above). You'll probably give yourself nerve damage if you try to run it without pads.

I currently don't have any soft armor in the front and back, though I do run soft armor in the cummerbund along with 6 x 6 hard side plates.

You really don't want 1000D over 500D for lbe. Stiff chest stuff is just worse, when you already have armor in anything 500D it's going to be tight (if fit properly) but not uncomfortable.
